I use a desktop.

I'm a 3D modeler and animator, and having a quad core for rendering really speeds things up. desktop quad core machines are not only easily overclockable, but also powerful for the cost.

I use a desktop primarily, and i have a cheap laptop that I use to remote into my desktop, best of both worlds.

I like desktops. Theres just something about coming home to my 20" compy and all the power that comes with it.

I have a tidus that stays on all day for file sharing, folding and bollocks like that that I do real work on.

I also have a labtop that I take to classes with me so I can sit in the back and saturate the 10Mbit free internet with touhou related downloads.

Living room desk: 2 desktops, torrents/aim/other downloads which run 24/7 which would be bad for laptop hardware & another for gaming which also suck for laptops.

Bedroom desk: eee901 Laptop connected to a 20" LCD, wireless mouse & keyboard. Does all I need and plays music when I sleep. external DVD provides for movies & 1.6 atom is just enough to play most downloaded shows all over network shares.

I use a laptop because it's more convenient for now, but I'll have a desktop one of these days...one of these days...

I have a Macbook Pro that will do basically anything + boot camp for games. plus a big monitor with external hard drives for extra stuff when I'm at home. Also an older PC plugged into the TV for movies and tv shows.

I prefer laptops. I like being able to surf the net on the toilet, on my bed, or on the couch. I like that I can take it over to a friends house and play a quick game of f.e.a.r if I want to. It's just convenient. Also it has a MXM card in it so if I really wanted to upgrade my graphics I could. The cards go cheaply on ebay.
