Should I go to college or learn a trade instead? I'm being offered the chance to do an apprentiship with a local union, but I'm conflicted. Here there is a big demand for young workers so its good pay and job security. On the other hand it involves physical work as opposed to working in an office somewhere. Which do you think is better?
Is college even worth it nowadays? For collegefags have you been able to find a job in your field?
>>
Depends on the trade.
>>
TRADE TRADE TRADE

Office work is fucking soul crushing...

at least out here with us, you're building something.

We're the backbone of infrastructure.

Not that strong? don't worry about it. They'll make a man outta you, you will build strength as you go.
>>
tradesman here, I am the 1% of /r9k/ that is satisfied with life.
>>
I say take the trade.

Are you in Canada by any chance? I'd love to hop on that train too.
>>
Junior in college here,

Unless you have a knack for math and science as well as personally motivated to work in a STEM field, I would pick the trade in a heartbeat.

Sure, college degrees may be more versatile, but trades are secure as fuck and earn decent income. College education is hit or miss as far as career opportunities go.
I don't mean to pull jungian pseudo-science out of my ass here, but essentially if you are sensing-oriented than trade while higher education greatly favors the intuitive.

As for the work itself, if you prefer working hands-on as well as wearing a blue collar, than go trade. If you prefer working in an office/lab/hospital and prefer you work with your mind, then a STEM degree from college is the correct choice.

physical work sucks mad balls

don't listen to those unskilled faggots ITT who tell you that this kind of work is good for you
>>
Welder.
If I fuck up going for mechanism engineering, I'll head in that direction. Liked the small bit of it that I tried in the past. Also, jobs fucking everywhere, and pays bank if you're good.
>>
Trade all the way.

More free money, less fluff/filler courses, shorter programs and a shitton more job security.
>>
I'm thinking of going to culinary school and becoming a chef instead of university. Can't do science or maths and unlike other vocational stuff I won't be around #lads all day every day. Is this a good idea? I do still kinda want to go to university for the sake of intellectual fulfilment/the experience but I don't know

Industrial electrician here

My "physical work" consists of stripping some wires then turning 3 screws. Or changing relays.

I would estimate a nurse or medical assistant does about 3X as much physical labor as me

I sit on my ass for 7 hours a day and make $46/hr or around $133,000 a yr

Come to Canada people

Likewise. Working with your hands is a good feel
