Sup, arcanine, I just visited CNN.com and immediately raged. What is our news media DOING? This shit qualifies as "news"?

    pic very much related.

    Don't 'rage'

    Just stop visiting.

They are writing their own irrelevance. It will be obvious that no one takes this shit seriously if no one actually clicks on it. Their main goals in life are click-throughs which equate to page views, which equate to ad sales.

But I want to keep up-to-date about world events... I read indymedia but I'm not aware of any reputable, regularly-updated news sources (other than the obvious). Any recommendations?

honestly those 4 you picked were the worst, but I could only count about 4 total actual news articles.

and yes, you've hit on the #1 problem in modern society: our media is fucking worthless. not just "oh we made a minor mistake" worthless. I'm talking about "OMG I'M PANDERING TO A HIGH SCHOOL TEENAGER LOL" worthless.

I wish I knew how to solve the problem, but I see no clear answers. It'd be nice to have an intelligent media focused on actual facts and in-depth reporting, but I think it's safe to say they're also
a- protecting their own interests with shallow gossip
b- selling their shitty product to a market of idiots who are actually interested in shallow gossip.
so in the end, it's just sad.

Welcome to American news, this is why we read BBC/Der Spiegel

American news media fails so hard. Try BBC or hell, even the CBC.
