EDIT: Note my liberal definition of "soon."

    32 KB I hate public transportation. Anonymous 02/24/09(Tue)15:40:31 No.3264429
I really do. It's not the fact that they can be unreliable or unpredictable at times, which in my opinion, that's false; the bus drivers do what they're paid to and sometimes inconveniences occur. No. It's not that. I don't mind taking a Metro, A Bus, a Trolly ... It's just.

I hate the people you meet riding with you.

I can surely say there are a few faces I recognize on the bus, especially the bus drivers, and I'm sure sthey recognize me. But ...

I'm starting to hate Men older than 30 who ride the bus. Mostly because I feel like I am the only young, white, possibly attractive female on the bus most of the time. Sure, there are other females, but they're usually way older than me. But the men, they just scare me, black OR white.

A few months ago, I had one hit on me and give me his phone number.
A few weeks ago, I had a man ask if I was from around the area.
Today, some one asked me to walk with them to 'get to know the neighborhood.'

I thankfully avoided the situation by going the other way to a near-by CVS for a bit, but afterward I was so scared that I took a different rout home.

I really hate feeling scared. I'm tempted to switch buses if this keeps happening. Hell, I'm tempted to just stay somewhere for a while and wait for some one to pick me up. I hate feeling paranoid on who's eyes are boring through my flesh, watching my every move. It's times like these I wish I knew how to drive a car ...

I hate strangers, guys, especially male strangers. And I hate it even more when those strangers ask me something or just talk to me. I'm not social. All I want is a nice, quiet ride and walk home.

But you know what's worse? When their is something on your mind that you want to talk to somebody about, but no one's allowed to listen.

I'm seriously gonna cry, guys ...

    Wear headphones. Listen to music.

Uh.. I think your biggest problem is paranoia, to be honest.

Just make yourself unavailable. You don't have to say a word to anyone even if they try to engage you. Bring a book, fuck.

wear extra stuff on top of your regular clothes until you're at where you need to be if it has to come down to that

In any case these seem like better advice than what I've got.

    suck it up, bitch.

not everyone is out to get you
you're fucking vain for thinking that
as an (underageb&) white female, all you need to do is grow some fucking balls and tell the creeps NO or ignore them
    for fuck's sake
pisses me off so much when people complain about this shit

I wish girls would approach me on the bus.

I kinda like riding the bus, but I hate when some ugly cretin sits behind, in front or next to me. Kills the cool fucking vibes I send out, y'know?
    >> Anonymous 02/24/09(Tue)15:53:45 No.3264509
    LOL NO

You are not attractive. Otherwise men would feel intimidated to even talk to you.

You look like a dumb slut. That's it. That's why creepy guys always go for you.

MAN, he certainly wanted you to suck his dick.

Enjoy your rape on the bus ride home and being dumped at the city slums.
    >> Anonymous 02/24/09(Tue)15:58:55 No.3264543
Just ignore them. I live in a pretty dangerous city, and when I'm on a bus or train alone, even during the day, I get stared at and hit on all the time by mostly creepy old black guys, since that's all we have around here once you get off campus.

Yeah, it sucks, and it can be really scary when I can't see anyone around at all and I'm waiting for a train and two obnoxiously loud black guys walk over and tell me I have pretty eyes and ask me where I go to school and what my name is and try to sit next to me.

But really, what the fuck are you going to do about it? Either listen to music, read a book, or bring a friend. Don't be such a pussy.

    ahahah, oh wow....

just plug your ears with headphones. Hell it doesn't even have to be plugged into something, when people do try to talk to you, just smile and look other way.

I too hate public transport for the same reason as you OP: the people.

I live in one of the more chav infested areas of the UK, so riding the bus/train is always a joyous experience. Little dickheads blaring Kano on their shitty Nokias and fat old men/women that lack any knowledge of hygiene are my usual fellow passengers.

This one time this old woman had a go at me because I chose to stand up at the front of a bus when there were a few empty seats at the back, thus I was 'in the way'. I just ignored her.

In conclusion, I try and use public transport as little as possible. I'd rather walk.

When it comes to public transportation, I really like living in Finland. With the shut-in society that we have, no one even dares to make eye contact in bus, and it would be completely unthinkable to talk with a stranger.
