IRC: do people still use it? I used to chat with tons of people through it back in the day, but now I just use it to pirate various things. Any active and interesting channels out there? I keep meaning to check out the /r9k/ one on Rizon again but I suspect it's neither of those things.
    >> Anonymous 11/07/11(Mon)06:17:15 No.314399

WHY is it that people think IRC is going out of style?
Shit, there are still hundreds of IRC networks out there.
It's cool because it just works.
The one on Rizon was sucked empty into the one on Tsukihi.me but that was degraded into a /b/ chat and was locked soon so fuck that.

I'm gonna see if I can set up one on Rizon then.
    >> Anonymous 11/07/11(Mon)06:51:41 No.314605
IRC is amazing for getting textbooks.
    >> Anonymous 11/07/11(Mon)06:55:06 No.314627
I have no clue how to use that shit, I consider myself a somewhat savvy computer user and that crap just confuses the fuck out of me.
The first time I ever tried to use it, whatever room I went in just immediately said "BANNED NO MIBBIT" and it was all downhill from there
    >> Anonymous 11/07/11(Mon)06:58:48 No.314645
    >>314627
That's because gay IRC Ops look down on Mibbit. And/or Mibbit is prone to exploits, I dont know.
Use an IRC client like mIRC for windows, or irssi(terminal) under linux.
    Xchat(GUI) works everywhere.

If you are savvy, it should be no problem.
There is a channel #TheRobots on Rizon now.

It is? Because there's a couple I need that I won't be able to afford for a while...

AFAIK its possible to get anything via irc, but you need to know where to look.
IIRC, Rizon is use mostly to exchange animu but whatever.

Join #therobots on Rizon, it's open.

I don't know if it's going out of style or not, but I've really gotten out of touch with IRC communities. I miss the days when I used to just chat with random fuckers on IRC.
    >> Anonymous 11/07/11(Mon)07:49:32 No.314906
Go to rizon.net > Click go chat > Enter your nickname > Where it says channel, type #therobot
    Simple.

Well, there's always #/r9k/, even though that's dead. There's also #ROBOT9001 on datnode, but that's hardly used. It has the robot, though.
    >> Anonymous 11/07/11(Mon)17:13:43 No.320211
Yes, plenty of people still use IRC. There are still plenty of interesting channels out there. Some of them are associated with the 4chan imageboards, such as v and g.

I also own my own irc channel as well.
