We all have some idea what we want to do growing up. Maybe not an ultimate goal, but for me growing up, I knew that I would do a degree, and get a proffesional job. I just couldnt concive of doing manual work say.
Now I have friends who dont see the attraction of office work, and grew up wanting to work in a factory. Unfortunatley now the factories here are all closed most of them have ended up in call centres and the like.

In "da projects maan", some kids grow up aspiring to be gangsta. Most dont though, to keep context, otherwise we'd have to wall the places off.

Most gang members live in poverty stricken areas with horrible education systems, oppressive police, and violence around every corner. Many people see gangs as a way to stay safe from other gangs, feel less vulnerable around police, and get ahead in life. Many do not have father figures in their lives and look to gang leaders for inspiration.

1.Gangs are based in racism.
Most gangs revolve around the same thinking behind nationalism and racial pride. This is why you will NEVER see a multiracial gang.
2.Gangs and mafias are different
Mafias have actual wealth and considerable heirachy. Gangs are always poor
3.Gangs are not as seriously "epic" as they sound
Being a gang member will never get you sex, popularity, or anything of that sort. It will get you beat the fuck up(like my neighbor recently was)
4.Gangs rarely mess with non-members

I used to be in a football(soccer) firm, we could of been classed as semi-gang so to speak. Brawls at games, selling shitty cocaine, stealing cars, looting little corner shops.
