I bet even though it's snowing in your area right now, your university is still open, while snowing.

Anyone having the same situation right now?
    >> Anonymous 01/27/09(Tue)08:54:02 No.2927595
Snow-free is for little school kids only. You're in university now, grow the fuck up.

Homeboy I live in Minneapolis. A couple weeks ago it was snowing and the windchill was -35F. All the public schools closed. My college didn't. One teacher who has been here for 25+ years commented that this place never, ever closes.

you pretty much have to have freezing rain for a university to cancel classes. that or feet of snow in one day

I have never ever heard of a school, any school, around here closing down because it was too cold or too snowy. I guess the only time they'd close school was if it was buried under the snow
    >> Anonymous 01/27/09(Tue)09:12:41 No.2927740

My school has actually closed for the day twice since I came here because of RAIN and FLOODING.

We're more likely to have a Rain Day than a Snow Day
    >> Anonymous 01/27/09(Tue)09:15:28 No.2927769
The reason most schools close is because transport to and from school is limited by huge delays and / or unsafe roads.

    Grow up, OP.

OP here, the university where I attend (University of Maryland), has just closed for the remainder of the day.

All afternoon and evening classes are canceled.

They pulled the same thing when it was snowing all day and decided to close for the day at 2pm last year.

As of 10 AM all my classes are cancelled. Busses can't get within two miles of the school at the moment, probably because they don't have chains. My poor roommate has this like 7 or 8 am class and he is walking through the snow looking for an operating bus, while I chat up you faggots.

My god, it's not high school. You're not forced to go, just stop paying.

Christ, this is why people end up with shitty jobs even after getting degrees. Go to college because you want to, not because you feel you have to.

You might as well just go to a vocational school. It's safer, job-wise, and you have easier classes.

It's a death trap at my university. I tried driving out to my morning class, and my car got stranded on the side of road. Managed to get back into my parking lot this afternoon, but I'm ditching my 4 pm class.

Here's my university's policy on snow weather: students and employees must use their own judgment as to the safety of the conditions in their respective areas...

More snow and freezing rain incoming tonight.
    >> Anonymous 01/27/09(Tue)15:56:39 No.2930801
    Rutgersfag here.

There isn't even a flake in the sky at the moment, yet we're still all up in arms over the "Winter Weather Advisory" (ooooh!) for tonight. Banners scrolling atop webpages, notices on the Webmail page about operating schedules.

But it's all a farce. Classes -never- get canceled at Rutgers over snow. In the last five years it's happened ONCE, despite several storms dumping a foot of snow over the course of a couple hours. The rule is that classes are on so long as the inter-campus buses can continue running. They're driven by immigrant madmen who will drive through Hellfire and Brimstone without their wipers on. Headlights optional.

Yet one of my profs tomorrow has already cancelled class. She "doesn't do snow." Cunt.

Here in Hungary it snows less each year. It haven't even snowed yet in my region this winter. But I like snow. There are times when it rains constantly during the summer too. The Carpathian Basin sucks at weather a lot. The only worse is Britain's weather IMO.

Yeah, It's supposed to snow/freezing rain here tomorrow, and I have classes, but I commute. The university might have classes since most of the people live in the dorms, but I'm not going to go if there is weather out. The profs have to drive too, so it's up to them whether to have class or not I guess. Either way, I'm not going to go if it's bad.

Fellow Jerseyfag. This year we've had several "winter weather advisories" but have gotten fuckall of a sizable amount of snow. I doubt any schools or unis will close anytime soon.
