    44 KB Housefire Lucas !!71C7ZPdzI5w 01/22/09(Thu)07:59:36 No.2864100
    Good morning /r9k/.

My house burned down yesterday, I wake up at the crack of noon to my younger sister and brother shouting and screaming from outside, apparently they had a cooking mishap and lit the downstairs on fire. I go to the stairs to see my door ablaze, I rush back to my room and put on my boxers, a pair of my best jeans, a hooded sweatshirt and my slippers in the rush.

I slammed the window and it came out of it's tracks, I tossed my little dachshund down to my little sister and threw my DS out, in it's little protective case with a few games. Panicked and now breathing ash, I grabbed the nearest thing to me, a sword on the wall, tossed it out and dove to the ground from the second story. I busted my knee up quite nicely, and because of the house's age, it was built nearly completely of cedar. Needless to say, it went up pretty quick and I'm now without a home.

A friend took me to the shops to get a bit of clothing so I can at least look DECENT, but now I am homeless and the old house was uninsured, everything is gone and staying that way.

I don't know what to do guys. I just need some advice from someone who may have weathered losing all their shit, or something. Anything would help. If you're awake and on MSN, add stoickarokapha@hotmail.com
Someone to chat with would be awesome. :/

Attention whore. Go get a new house with your insurance money and gtfo 4chan, if you don't have anything better to do than post on 4chan after this incident, you are obviously a retard and beyond help.

    GET THE FUCK OUT.

I'm in previously mentioned friend's home, I can't sleep because his furnace continually clicks on and off, the sound of flame is too unnerving at the moment.

Get a job, get a hotel room, rebuild.

OR use this as an golden opportunity to emancipate yourself from the pieties of modern life. Build a treehouse somewhere remote and live off the land, comrade.

Why was your house uninsured? I thought that it was pretty much common sense to insure houses in case something like this happened.

It was about 98 years old, IIRC. It had all kinds of problems and we tried to get it insured but nobody bit.
    >>2864135
I really don't want to amass as much garbage as I had. I'm tempted to just get a nice backpack and keep only what I can fit inside, a new ocarina and a couple books with the basics. I'd be happy with that, doing odd jobs or something. I have no idea.

If it wasn't for that I'd feel right bad for you.

    What's your area ?

Continue living with mother. I was staying at home and tending the chickens and gardens with her, but I think since we can't live there we'll have to change things.
    >>2864159
Lost my ocarinas. Even the maparam.

Google image search. When your house is on fire you don't exactly think to yourself, "You know what? I need pictures of this."
    >> Anonymous 01/22/09(Thu)08:32:57 No.2864240
This is what happens when you build your houses out of wood, man-alive Americans are stupid.

Seeing as you are an American can't you just buy a trailer to live in on the spot where your house was?

Also, I am very disappointed that you play the ocarina and not the banjo as this ruins my dumb American hick in a log cabin image of you.

And where do you live where they build inflammable houses?

    DO IT FAGGOT

Go to /trv/, they're always discussing this shit. It's more plausible than you'd think.

if you can not afford to loose something, but can not afford the insurance for it, YOU CAN NOT FUCKING AFFORD IT FULL STOP.

your own stupid fucking fault op for not having insurance.

Sounds romantic does it not? Not tied down by earthly possessions, traveling abroad with naught but my backpack and the clothes on my back... On the other hand, I've never left Washington and only ever gone as far as Redmond. |: 3

It does sound better than being tied down to a house full of shit I may end up losing anyway though. I have to wonder where I'd end up going.

OP, do you have any transferable skills? Are you employable?

And is this by any chance Florida? Getting insurance down here is the worst kind of aids.

In Italy, the houses are made of CONCRETE, so we don't have that problem.

Employable, absolutely. I'm quite strong enough, I learn quickly enough. I've got gardening ability and hiking experience, know the local plants and what's good to eat. I may end up with a writing job of some sort, I've been told I'm an exceptional writer.

I can play any wind instrument I pick up by ear, improvise well and all that, street performing wouldn't be out of the question.

This is true... You'd think they'd never heard the tale of the 3 little pigs. They should have learned by now that stone buildings last longer. If OP's house had been stone then he'd still have the building and only have to put a new roof on it to make it liveable in at least. You see the same shit where they get tornadoes there and there's always a load of people on the news who've lost everything, just because their house is made of balsa wood or something.

Its tragic when that happens but made all the more tragic by the fact that if they had more common sense than an egg they'd have built things out of stone like they do in Europe and not lost nearly as much.
