So as a poor college student (paying for my own college) I cannot afford my text books this semester (7 books) because I would rather eat.
and since the public account I've been using on bitme got deleted I have no way of getting these books.

Does anyone have a good torrent site where I can get my textbooks?

    what school?
some seedy photocopy shops in your area might carry copies of textbooks for a fraction of the price. you could try that.

It would totally depend on the course you are doing. I studied Japanese at university, so finding the correct textbooks online would be near on impossible.

I can totally relate though, the cost of textbooks at university takes the motherfucking piss. My last one cost me $70, its a fucking un-funny joke.

    $70?

    lucky bastard.

my spanish text cost $180. textbooks are a scam.

In principle I would agree with you, but at my university the textbooks would basically be unvailable for weeks at a time, due to the high demand and short supply. I mean, they even had a system where you could hire them for anything up to an hour, it was a right pain in the ass.

    Check Ebay/Amazon for ultra-cheap beaten-up books.

90% of classes that don't obviously require the book (literature, ect.) don't ever use them. They're just there for you to "study".
    >> Anonymous 01/19/09(Mon)17:43:30 No.2830186
7 books? How many classes are you taking? I have 4 classes and need 4 books. Those study guides and shit are usually optional and unnecessary. I spent about $250 all together, which I still think is ridiculous. On the bright side, I found my History textbook online for only $12, and then I got my lit book for under $50, but my math book was $90, and in fucking government they use a special Texas edition that's hard to come by except in local book stores, so I had to pay $108.

suck dick for cash, I hear it's all the rage for kids in college now a days
    >> Anonymous 01/19/09(Mon)17:47:11 No.2830227
search other college's bookstores. i got one of my books at another school for $70 brand new, costs $130 at mine.

also look up other schools' libraries, see if you get an interlibrary loan or get someone you know to take it out for you.

    Sweet Jeebus.
Well... why don't you simply offer someone, who bought the books, let's say 10$ for each book you need... take him with you to a copyshop, copy the books, give him the moneyz and then have some beer and get drunk together? People are nicer than you think, you know?
    >> Anonymous 01/19/09(Mon)17:54:01 No.2830303
haha, I get finicial aid so i can get all my books and still have plenty of money leftover to by weed and other shit i don't need. tough shit bro

    Yep.

I used to work at my uni's library. Stopped paying for books altogether. Either reserve the books at your school's library or do interlibrary loans from other schools to get the books you need.

Also, I'm feeling generous. What books do you need? I might have a copy of the book you need on my hard drive. I downloaded a few textbooks from our school network before graduating.

In Soviet Russia textbooks cost 7-12$. Everything else costs as much as in USA, computer parts and clothes are two times more expensive, but books are quite cheap here.

Here in Germany, we get financial aid from the government. Also moneyz for books, if you need it. But fuck it, our libraries are huge and we don't even need fucking books, because German lecturers (right word? dunno) tell us everything we need to know. You learn on the job, not through books, faggots.
    >> Anonymous 01/19/09(Mon)18:01:58 No.2830408
you probably don't need most of the books, btw. I know I only got half of the books assigned to me.
    >> Anonymous 01/19/09(Mon)18:03:38 No.2830439
I often buy the International Editions of the books I need online. They will be much cheaper and have the exact same content. Only problem is that I can't sell them back to the Uni bookstore after I'm done, but even considering this I still save a lot of money by doing this.

Also, get a friend who takes the same classes as you and trade books.
    >> OP 01/19/09(Mon)20:29:20 No.2831959
I am taking 6 classes, but one class has a worksheet book (the Prof said you could print up the pages and do them that way if you bought the book online)

I'm in my 2nd year, and literally every book is needed except one, and that one is the book all the tests are written from so it would help me pass.

also: not sure where in my post I asked for your college experiences... yep it pretty much is just asking for torrent sites...
