27 KB Things to do when hanging out Anonymous 01/15/09(Thu)21:21:23 No.2786193
Hey robots. So I'm heading back to college soon and made plans to hang out with a friend I made over the course of last semester. Other than the day, we haven't really established anything (who's place, what we'll be doing, etc) though she's mentioned she has no idea what we should do.

I've just come to realize though; I've got no idea what the hell normal people do when they hang out. Most all of my friends up to this point have been nerds like me, but this one's not, so the usual things like playing games on a LAN, nerd board games, and things like that aren't really on the table.

So what do you do/suggest when hanging out with people who aren't complete nerds? I was thinking I've got a Wii (though only casual games I have are Wii Sports/Play), or a board game (though only thing I really have is Muchkin and cards), or I don't know, just going to suggest watching The Office or something else on DVD I know we both like, but that stuff seems kinda lame. If we hang out at my place it'll be 1 on 1, at her place it might be with her roomates, but idk.

TLDR: Things to do when hanging out with non-nerds?
Pic related, first image result for "hanging out".

Most of the time, people just talk.

If you don't know how to do that, this would be a good time to start.

Just say whatever pops into your head and go with it.

Sounds good to me, but it seems like it would be weird to suggest, "lets just sit around and talk".

Maybe I'll suggest we go get lunch somewhere and bring some DVDs to fall back on if conversation dries up.

I watch movies and sit around and have people watch me play video games if they so need to see me. if people aren't down for video games, fuck them, they're going to sit there and watch me play Fallout one way or another.

Movies and TV shows are very good to have in the background. Conversation can derive from what you're watching, which helps if you can't think of anything.
