here's the thing about george bush-

    1) we had a huge budget surplus before he got elected, and now we're trillions of dollars in debt

    2) that money (our money, if you're a taxpaying amerifag) was not spent to improve our lives, and the lives of our fellow citizens; it was spent to line the pockets of a few rich folks, and it was spent on weapons that have killed what the red cross estimates as being half a million innocent people

    3) american soldiers are dying every day fighting for what?

like, seriously? how naive can you be...?

trillions of our dollars spent on despotism, illegal war, and subsequent mass murder; our lives haven't improved, and now, the rest of the world hates us because of his jackass actions.

Protip: It takes 30 years to truly evaluate the effects of a presidents time in office. People didn't like FDR, but in retrospect he did alright.

    Things Bush has done right:

    1. Vitalize the economy after 9/11 ensuring the we didn't experience a down turn then.

    2. Make homeland defense srs buisness and prevent a single terrorist attack to 9/11 on this day.

    3. Look up what he did in Texas before he was a president. He did a great job.

    4. Ignore retards who think he is an idiot because at times he lacks oratory skills. No president is an complete retard. They can make bad decisions but they are no where near retarded.

    3. That an raising teachers salaries, raising student test scores, bringing the economy back a little, and reducing crime. Although Texas ranked low in environmentalism.

I beg to differ sir. The stock market was literally frozen after 9/11 and only reached its pre 9/11 levels 1 and a half years after 9/11. People were afraid to get out there and spend. They were still stunned. So Bush got on the tele and said "WAKE THE HELL UP AND CONTINUE LIKE NORMAL OR YOU ARE LETTING THEM WIN!". Was that not extremely apt?

Indeed it was, they got the children and left behind the funding. I think the biggest problem with our schooling is that since the 70's we have this attitude that if someone is failing it's "not their fault". Of course this won't help us to be competitive internationally in schooling or anything. It breeds under achievers.

right, because our bombs, cruise missiles, and infantry haven't killed huge numbers of people, and that's just liberal hype
urban war is actually really nice and clean, no collateral damage at all, they even stop and have teatime

the international red cross estimates the number of iraqi civilians killed by U.S. forces at five hundred thousand or over. and that's killed by U.S. soldiers, not by suicide bombers that throng the streets because our soldiers are there
    >> Anonymous 01/15/09(Thu)21:23:19 No.2786208
    >>2786167
Nobody likes US soldiers being killed. But was it in vain? Maybe, certainly seems that way right now though doesn't it. Perhaps in 30 years people will be saying ,"The Iraq war! That was a great idea!". Probably not, although we can't we walked away form this with nothing. Our military has benefited from more experience fighting asymmetrical guerrilla forces.

Education funding is not going to get any better, either. Issues are always based on the voter demographics, and for the next 3 terms or so, it's going to be primarily about issues that matter to the baby boomers (whose kids are out of schools by then) i.e retirement accounts, veterans affairs and "is my job safe from overseas" (it's not safe over here either, since any company that is going to succeed will be replacing you with a robot pretty soon)
Also, it's a good thing Bush didn't follow through fully on any plans to privatize social security (his 2000 debate issue that he emphasized the most) into the stock markets.

And as for civilian casualties? Yea have been and will be a lot. I hate to feel like a fag, but I will say it again, was it worth it? Americans don't think so. They feel like they go jipped. obama certainly is a media sweetheart, i voted for him, and that doesn't mean that i don't recognize his being a slimy politician just like the rest of them. however, he hasn't done anything wrong yet, so why did you even bring him up, unless it was just to bash liberal ideals in general

however, george bush is ultimately responsible and culpable for everything that has happened in the iraq fiasco; if he'd been a nazi, his orders and their consequences would have warrented his trial, conviction, and subsequent hanging as a war criminal at the nuremburg trials.
