  • "UPTIME IS THE GAME, DOWNTIME IS THE NAME"
today marks the end of scheduled maintenance—two guys with two weeks to kill and a few hundred hours later, we're finally [mostly] done.
page loads/image downloads should be dramatically faster. until we hit 1gbps, at least. to all of my wonderful and ungrateful users: "you're welcome."
(note: there are still a few other things i'll be working on so expect intermittent downtime)
ps: thanks so much to mvb for all of the help and support.

Can you publish and sell a novel in the United States and have the first page be the beginning of the novel, not any numbers or where it was printed or any of that shit?
    >> Anonymous 01/13/09(Tue)03:23:09 No.2753397
No, and you shouldn't bother writing a book.

NO, STOP DOG. YOU CAN'T RECEIVE A DEATH THREAT, YOU'RE JUST A DOG. IT WON'T EVEN MAKE SENSE.

Yeah, you do it illegally, just like when you drank before you turned 21.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/09(Tue)03:32:13 No.2753488
nope, you need a big publisher to get your books out there... and thats what they do
    >> Anonymous 01/13/09(Tue)03:35:51 No.2753510
You can, if you're going to print the novel out on your mom's printer and leave copies on bookstore shelves and hope someone will take it home, read it, love it, and mail you money.

But if you want to be published, publishers generally like publishing and copyright information in things they publish.

I think the issue here is that he does not know what publishing is or what books are, and he is going to waste his parents' time having them proofread.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/09(Tue)03:49:41 No.2753607
I think that OP meant to have the copyright and all that shit in a page other than the first, maybe it's relevant for the theme/style of the book that the very first page is the beggining of the novel, not that it would replace the publishing data at all
    >> Anonymous 01/13/09(Tue)04:05:16 No.2753737
I always thought it would be cool to print a book, and put it in a public library. Then people can come along and discover your hidden gem. But that would actually mean you would have to be good.
