I'm normally the first to say no one cares about newfags/just a website etc but in this case it actually is bad. The biggest influx of new members the boards will have ever seen.

I remember when my rather small forum I visit was on Digg's front page the place was practically wrecked and ended up shutting down for a few days as it couldn't cope. Now I'm sure 4Chan will cope rather well server wise but it will completely destroy what we have as a general board. Just as the posting was starting to decrease as well.

Anon trying to do what he can here. And I had a thought, although gore etc may work it's still not something that should be properly condoned. Wouldn't it be better to DDoS the website outselves? We won't be able to visit it but neither will anyone else? Keep that up for the day and by the time tomorrow comes round all should be fairly well again.
And with all of 4Chan's members doing it it wouldn't be too hard considering other websites and chans have done it countless times and it's worked.

1. You cannot raid Wikipedia. You don't understand how wikis work at all, even a constant stream of 4channers will not work because they will cut off the stream by semi-protecting the article (spoiler: 4chan article has been semiprotected forever) which prevents unregistered and new users from making changes. Now only existing wiki accounts can edit it, and all of those will be blocked and the page will be reverted AUTOMATICALLY based on scripts and bots that Wikipedia is running. DDoSing Wikipedia is the most idiotic thing to suggest, and just because you and all your friends are running whatever newfandangled Anonymous DDoS Inc. tool out there, probably LOIC, does not mean that you can take down THE WIKIPEIDA. You're shooting a tank with a marshmallow gun.

2. The people saging this thread are correct, and if you bother staying at this site for more then a year or two you will end up learning this the heard way and look back upon your past actions as "What the fuck kind of retard was I?" 4chan is not an exclusive club, as much as we'd like to pretend it is. The people who come will either (a) make some annoying posts, get offended by /b/ and /d/, and make dumb threads on specialty boards until they are all banned for rule violation/leave because "th1s siet sux lol"/have Robot9000 protect us with the almighty power of mute OR (b) make a few relevant posts, perhaps making some mistakes at first but as a whole coming to contribute some content to this website, fresh blood that we desperately need.

Yes, 4chan is, despite our failures, a better website then most trashy forums, disgusting social networking sites and other such internet chaos. However, an article on the Wikipedia will cause nary but a minor disturbance that will pass, leaving with it a few more stains of annoying fail and perhaps a drop of original content, which the tapestry of 4chan is soaked with throughout history.

tl;dr we've been through this kind of thing before people, and those who think "we r leg1on" are just going through a phase, try not to make your legion phase impact as bad as some of us.
