yeah, this is true. The BNP have tried to present a respectable image, but their politics are totally cynical. What they want to provoke is racial conflict. What do you think would happen if their policies of forced deportation were to be enacted? There'd be rioting and strife up and down the country. So in steps the BNP to "restore order", round up all the undesirables and suspend civil liberities. All the while, gangs of racist thugs beat up non-whites. Sounds a lot like fascism to me.

The BNP was of course formed out of the the British far-right and neo-Nazi movements after they imploded in the early 1980s. Luckily for us, the far-r-ght is too divided amongst itself to be any real threat for the time being.

The fact is, though, immigration of other peoples DOES change a society completely, forever. Sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a bad way. yeah, there's always some excuse as to why the current bunch of immigrants is bringing about collapse. In the nineteenth century it was the Irish who were the problem "swamping" the UK. Other times, it has been Catholics, Protestants, blacks, eastern Europeans (remember when the tabloids were predicting doom after Poland etc joined the EU? Well, it hasn't happened). In decades to come it will be someone else. In the end, it's competition for jobs and resources that is at the bottom of it all. Most of the BNP's senior leadership is made up of former National Front activists. The founders of the party were John Tyndall, former leader of the National Front, and Ray Hill, a former member of the Racial Preservation Society, the British Movement and the South African Herstigte Nasionale Party, all white supremacist or neo-nazi organisations. The BNP work very hard to portray a respectable and reasonable image, but as soon as you scrape the surface you realise that all the strings are being pulled by jackbooted fascists and bloodthirsty skinheads.

As to whether the party is racist or not, their own constitution states that the BNP is "committed to stemming and reversing the tide of non-white immigration". Not uncontrolled immigration, not immigration full stop, but non-white immigration.

Two weeks spent on a dirt cheap package holiday in some Mediterranean shithole that is basically a building site in the sun. Fat, bald, wife beating alcoholics stagger around in football shirts and Union Jack shorts to make a point that they are "Proud to be British" Spending every day of their holiday developing skin cancer by a noisy poolside as their screaming kids run around disturbing what little peace was there to begin with.

Rather than choosing to sample the delights of a foreign culture, they sit in cockroach infested British themed bars with names like "The Bulldog" and "The Kings Arms", drinking Worthington, eating full English breakfasts and watching Only Fools and Horses and Peter Kay DVDs.

At night, tacky cabaret bars are packed to the rafters with sunburnt, working class scum as they sit and watch some foul mouthed Northern comedian do his best Bernard Manning impression. The mothers and fathers are too pissed to notice the youngest of their 15 kids playing barefoot and topless in the busy traffic. As they sink their 28th snakebite of the day, their 14 year old slag of a daughter is starting her first ever holiday romance with a 22 year old joyrider from Nottingham called Daz. By romance I mean getting plyed with Sangria and taken up the arse in a toilet cubicle.

At the end of this wonderful excursion, the highlight of their year, the families stock up on pirate dvds and duty free Lambert and Butler before landing back in dear old blighty to spend the next 50 weeks saving their benefits up to do it all again.

Ok, let's look at this in the most basic sense... aside from wanting to kick everyone who they don't consider British out of the country, what other sizeable, tangible policies does the BNP have? I have heard nothing to indicate they have any.

I may moan about immigration, like most people now, but I only want to deport the illegal immigrants, and tighten screening for future immigration. This is a prudent and fair goal. The BNP prey on the disillusionment of the public to whip up a furore of irrational hate, as opposed to informed and unprejudiced criticism.

The concept of nation-states is outdated. It had relevance in the past, now it only serves to encourage division and strife. The significance people place on arbitary geographical regions is staggering and dangerous.

The task at hand is the accommodation of these people, not some phantasmal persecution which can never happen.

The problem rather is, apart from any concern over things not to do with them being racist (for example, the fact that they have made a career out of hyperbole and lying, but then again so have the Daily Mail):
1) The party leadership are generally sourced from older extreme-nationalist group such as the National Front, and they do have a strong extreme element - just look at all the white nationalists on Stormfront.
2) Their policies in some areas are borderline or actually racist - for example, this guff about promoting the 'indigneous peoples' (and no, I don't think that it would be appropriate if we had, say, a Jewish People's Party or something) and curtailing 'non-white' immigration. There's a lot there if you look past the reasonably sound - populist and sometimes illinformed, but often reasonably sound - economic policy.
3) The fact that they're the BNP, the big bad racist boogeyman. It's really quite daft - the majority of people do support BNP policies (although I certainly do not) but they just don't want to deal with the stigma of the party and their history.
4) They're generally a party of the lowest common denominator. Ultra-socialistic economics, ultra-populist social policy.
