/r9k/, is it possible to live on $530 a month anywhere? This includes TV, internet, etc.

    Also a hot Japanese woman.
    >> The Red Barron 01/06/09(Tue)10:58:04 No.2671678
Yeah, nigga find a cheap apartment, hopefully with utilities included. Don't expect it to be the Taj Majal or anything, but you should be alright if you don't have horrible budgetskillz

Anywhere in the US that's particularly cheap? I'm currently in southeast PA, an hour out from Philadelphia.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/09(Tue)11:00:05 No.2671690
Studio Apt. + Antenna TV + $30/mo Internet

    Should be okay.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/09(Tue)11:01:50 No.2671699
is that including your food budget?

if not, then yeah, you should be able to do it. Anywhere you go, they're be areas with cheap rent. I'd so some research though, because often cheap area = niggas and crime. But there are some definite areas where you can live reasonably well and be safe for a modest amount of money.

    >$30/mo internet
    Is that broadband or dial-up?

Almost every town with 50k+ residents will have some sort of ~250 a month apartments. This leave the rest for food, etc. Just get a one-bed. Don't bring any girls over, it will not impress them.
    >> Anonymuos 01/06/09(Tue)11:02:15 No.2671704
Shitty new Europe is shitty. I can't understand how they were able to get by when they both made less than 800$ per month in total. (That means when you add both of their salaries together it doesn't even add up to 800$.)
4 children. Fuck, I feel like a nigger now.

    >> Anonymous 01/06/09(Tue)11:09:47 No.2671758
I live on less than that because I live where I work and I have a boss who is awesome. 200$/month for rent (includes electricity, shared bathroom, free internet), 10% discounts in the restaurant (50% when I work), and all the free fountain pop i can drink.
And I only work 3 days a week. Top THAT, niggers!
    >> Anonymous 01/06/09(Tue)11:10:32 No.2671761
Yes. Share a room in a loft in Brooklyn ny, rent $375/mo
Become a Freegan and dumpster dive food twice a week, it actually is not looked down upon but seen as adventurous, ecological and interesting. Get a used bike for little to no money at a Freegan bike workshop or craigslist.

Unlimited metro card is like $75-$125 a month I'm not sure.

Pretty cool life as long as you can tolerate sharing a room & schedualing your tapping time when your roommate isn't home.

    pure and simle. Romania!
You'd live like a king there. Well allmost like a king.
A pack of cigarettes there is 2 dollars, a bear in most bars is around a dollar and living in a small apartment you'll never spend more then 100-150/month on bills. Allso with about another 150 dollars you could rend a small apartment in an ok zone in an ok city.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/09(Tue)11:13:03 No.2671785
I'm living on $426+ a month, counting food, utilities, rent, and college. Of course, I am sharing an apartment with a friend, which helps out quite a bit. Also, I live in Oklahoma, where everything is cheap.

Yeah. If you can go without a wife and kids, well-balanced meals and up-to-date crap you can get by pretty much anywhere on a pretty fucking measly salary. Don't be suckered into the trappings of modern life, it'll just leave you hollow and miserable.

    Hmm...

BARELY, but it's possible. Prepaid cell phone, basic cable + cable internet, all electric utilities, energy star appliances with high efficiency ratings, GREAT insulation and weatherproofing, cheap car, know how to fix it yourself... etcetera.

Fine, I lied. It's $630, but I have an iPhone which I am particularly fond of. I suppose I'll have to bail on that too, though.

    $630 a month, any better?

Older laptops cost almost nothing. (Some people give them away for free, because you can't simply throw them out. You'd have to pay for it to be taken to trash.) Internet can be extremely cheap and also in some countries free wi-fi is extremely common.
(Even buses seem to have a wi-fi router here.)
    >> Anonymous 01/06/09(Tue)11:32:02 No.2671900
Rent for my two bedroom apartment, fully furnished - $161
    Utilities - around $30
    Food - $75
    Gas - $30 (lolz, bicycles)
    Cell Phone - $50

$346 a month. However, everything is split in thirds, as I have two roommates, besides my cell phone and gas for my car.

    >> Anonymous 01/06/09(Tue)11:33:59 No.2671919
Think in terms of cheap food. Ramen, beans, lentil soup....things like this. You buy dry stuff and season it just barely to make it eddible. Be willing to drop the internet and tv in the long run.

no you don't get to keep him. Rather for 1$ you get a worm hug and if you want more you need to negociate with its master before taking him up to your room for a little fun.
But that never gets me over 10-15 $ unless i'm in a really kinky mood.
Allso, more regular items are 'rented' for much less.

I made a total of $6500 last year, according to my tax return. For most of the year I did not have a cell phone. I ate rice and black beans a lot and I worked at a pizza place so it was easy to steal food.

Antenna TV works fine if you have digital tuner or converter box.

    And my $30 internet is AT&T 100mbps high-speed.

    Haha, not here.

My rent is $750 a month for a rather small apartment, and utilities + internet is another $140 a month

Then groceries/general fooding probably comes to about $150-$200
