A 21st century revision of European-styled democracy + common law
+ a bill of rights to include provisions for technology up to and including the internet, also restricting the use of surveillance technology
+ guarantees for a high standard of education
    + complete freedom of movement
+ totally controlled firearms, meaning police may not have access to them either (DISCLAIMER: pro-gun? just ignore this one, because I guarantee this thread will be completely derailed if you don't)
+ proportional representation and coalition based multi-party democracy with a born citizen as figurehead head of state
    + a number of non-hierarchical democratic bodies
    + total judicial independence
+ some SERIOUS restrictions on the free media (yes, that's right) prohibiting them from reporting anything too divergent from the truth.

that last one is pending, subject to me thinking up a way to do it without censorship powers.

I think the best thing the American system has going for it is the bicameral legislature.

If every state gets the same amount of votes in congress, states with bigger populations and bigger economies get screwed.

If every state gets a certain amount of votes in proportion to their size, tiny states get ignored.

Therefore, the Senate uses the first system and the House uses the 2nd system. Win-win. Jefferson was fucking clever for thinking that one up, I'll tell you that much.

We should build a highly advanced artificial intelligence that would secretly rule over the entire population by using advanced CGI to generate fake presidents every 4 years so that the people think that they're electing human beings, when, in reality, they're ruled by a machine that is only ruled by pure logic, incorruptible. The machine should be kept hidden deep within the ground in a massive complex layered like an onion, filled with various defenses so that the AI cannot be tampered with by humans.

    Social Contract Theory.

When everyone is too busy trying to protect their things from other people, they'll turn to someone. There's going to be factions and gangs eventually, as people find teaming up against others will benefit themselves a lot. Even amongst family members.

If someone has 10 siblings, he can fight a family of only 1, and take over their things no questions asked.

But if that 1 befriends another family with 9, the two of them can combine to combat the 10. Thus eventually leading to people grouping completely together and giving 1 person power.

I sort-of like this one.I would consider doing away with the myth of representation in legislature altogether i.e. just having members elected by proportion of votes. My MP (UK) hardly ever sits in, and even if he did, he's one guy. Power should be in the hands of those that give a fuck i.e. actual voters.

And for the last one: no. I am sympathetic to banning things that are directly harmful i.e. drugs. If they could be genuinely controlled, only some wacko libertarians would for them back (which is similar to your policy on guns.) I believe there is a genuine demand for prostitution, though, for example, and it should be legalized and regulated

    GENIOCRACY FOR FUCK'S SAKE.

-Social status is determined by intelligence.
-Children that show obvious signs of mental retardation are euthanized.
-Citizens below a certain intelligence level are not allowed to vote.
-Citizens who wish to apply for a government or management position must take a test of logic to prove that they can reason, and reason well. The higher the function, the more difficult the test and the higher one needs to score to get in.
-Old people who show signs of a mental disease (Alzheimer's for example) are euthanized.
-Depressions, burn-outs and other forms of work-related mental breakdowns are allowed since they're a result of stress that can happen depending of circumstances. However, if a person suffers too many breakdowns, this generates a penalty in his intelligence rating and he'll be demoted to a lower (and less stressful) position.
-A small amount of poor/homeless are tolerated because they're a buffer for the job market if things pick up dramatically.

    Libertarian Socialism

The state would be a small organization of the working class, which handles economic decisions and the allocation of resources. Small communities would govern their own citizens on social issues, and citizens who were unhappy with a certain social organization could migrate to another or organize their own. Criminal justice would be fairly relative depending on the community.
