    Hey /r9k/

I'm fucking sick of Christmas. Two weeks of absolute madness and rush and by the end of it(on 24th, when you're supposed to celebrate) the whole family is stressed to the limits and tired as hell.

What's the point of it? Statistics show that most suicides in every year happen on the 24th of Dec. It's not a big surprise, this period pushes everyone to his limit. Usually I start thinking on a proper gift to give to my family members as early as November. I have to think hard, because all of them have pretty much everything they need, so in the end I just end up giving some useless junk. No one's happy. It's also really, really awkward that you have to give something to people that you know they don't really want, just because you don't have to be the poor bastard who didn't give anything.

Well, in the end all those preparations are worth it, don't they? Hell fuck no. Christmas tree is fucking boring after my measly 25 years. I can only imagine how boring can it be for my 90 years old granddad. Christmas music is pretty nice, and I even like it first. That is, it's pretty nice in the first two weeks. Because they start playing them on TV and radio IN FUCKING NOVEMBER. By the time Christmas comes I heard them a thousand gazillion times and I'm fucking tired of them too.

What do you guys think? Sick of this holiday already, 2 days before it even started?

    I think this is tl;dr

I like Christmas, but I was in Toys R Us on Saturday, and the parents looked so dead, children crying, screaming, playing with everything, while the parents were busy trying to keep themselves together. It looked depressing.

I have to agree. Festivus is possibly the greatest holiday ever invented.

No they don't. As I am reliably informed by my various sources, the most suicides occur on January 1st, possibly out of 'a fear of starting something new'.

Saturday January 1st 2000 has the highest recorded suicide rate of any single day in the US.

Mondays also have a proportionately high suicide rate, again because of uncertainty about the future.

I don't celebrate 'christmas'. I celebrate every day of my life. I'm glad that I am alive and have a joyous heart. Fuck your christmas.

i think christmas is really nice. i get to travel home from uni and spend time with my friends who are scattered across different countries. its lots of warm and loving dinners with my family and i always get really amazing gifts! i wish christmas would last all year.

I can't even afford Christmas presents this year, luckily I'm spending Christmas with my dad and they don't care about Christmas as much as other people do.
I have three presents to open on Christmas, so I'm happy with that.

    loev christmas

    the food is so good
    >> Anonymous 12/22/08(Mon)09:16:06 No.2518500
OP, stop caring. I didn't notice we were approaching Christmas until just yesterday. Then i gave a few seconds thought as to whether i should buy gifts for my family, shrugged my shoulders and spent all my money on alcohol.

    It's depressing really.

I have the vague memories of Christmas's past. The excitement of getting something i wanted. Now i'm all grown up, by myself in the big wide world. It's just another day of the year. Every day is another day of the year. With my current situation, every day is a long lonely Sunday. It's raining.

    So ronery.

I've felt this way for 18 years.

It's a day of the year. Wouldn't it be nice if we all acted kind and gave each other presents randomly instead of assigning it to a day?

Not to mention the religious side is bollocks.

But the whole 'growing up with a normal childhood' angle kinda messes it up for you. I generally try and forget what date it is, so i can never be certain what time of the month it is, that way i don't know if it's Christmas.

Either way, i still cry. As much as i regard it as 'another day of the year', what i wouldn't give to be 9 years old again, with my family as they give me the trainset i always wanted.

    What i wouldn't give...

I can't just ignore it. I have a family around me that I don't want to hurt.
