    I'm going to college next year, and I have three loves. History, Politics, and Music. But I'm keeping music in the background, because while I'm a good Horn player, I just don't feel like it would suit me the best as a profession.

    Which leaves History and Politics, and I'm an avid reader. I have a subscription to Time magazine, and the Wall Street Journal ($140/yr=insane)...All I have done for the past 6 years of my life is read, a little Warhammer 40k sci-fi, but mostly history books...

    Anyway, as I get closer to going out into that scary place known as the 'real world', I'm trying to figure out what I can do. I really would like to become a history professor, not a HS teacher though, because I would definitely commit suicide.

    I'm most interested in the American Civil War, Imperial Germany (1871-1918), WWI, 1919-1938, and WWII eras. Not just militarily, but as a whole.

    What kind of jobs could I look for and combine History/History+Politics? If anyone has any sort of advice about how to best become an assistant/history professor, I would like to hear it. Thanks~

    Ask your professors and explore in university (what you're supposed to do in the Liberal Arts anyway). Maybe you could help out with their research and see if you like it.
