No. I don't think that I'm a bad person. I'm a very good boyfriend, I'm a good father, I'm a good provider. I'm good at these things because I do what needs to be done.

The problem is that some of the things that need to be done are no very nice. when My son started hanging with a bad crowd, I went an talked to them. I explained things to them and he lived a very protected life after that.

The problem is that I explained to his friends that if anything happened to him then they would never skateboard again. The bigger problem is that I meant it.

They believed me, and I'm glad, but I'm not sure that I want to be the person that breaks peoples kneecaps.

I'm very much like many of the people here. When I was young, I was insecure. I didn't know what to do with girls, I didn't get along with my family.

I left home early. I sucked cock because it kept me fed. I sold drugs because I was good at it, and you don't need a resume to get the position.

I learned how to break into buildings. I learned how to talk to the judge.

At some point I learned how to arrange for people to have a problem. I learned that there are people who will do very bad things for a price. I learned that that price is remarkably low.

I learned that if you point a gun at somebody, they will do whatever you want. That became a tool, and I used it.

Ironically, that was not a criminal act. As far as I know (and for that kind of money, I made sure that I knew) I didn't break any laws. The difference between fraud and "negociation" comes down to "did you lie?". I didn't tell any lies and reality is a subjective thing.

First crimes- Stealing food and small toys from stores when I was 9
More serious ones- Stealing everything I wanted and never paying for things after I turned 12. This includes spray paint, CDs, a TV, games and similar things.
First arrest- Graffiti when I was 14. Two felonies and a $10,500 fine. Lots of community service too.
Then I got into dealing at 15. Datura, shrooms, pharmaceuticals (dxm, dph, no perscriptions though), mescaline(impure), and a wide variety of other entheogens I grew.
I am now 20 and have not had another arrest. I never pay for food, I am in college, use and sell drugs, and write graffiti. Your turn OP and anyone who thinks stealing is more fun than masturbating.

Ok - fair enough. Understand that anonimity or nor, I'm not going to admit to specific illegal activity on an open forum.

In my youth, I got into tricking and drugs. retail stuff, keeping myself fed.

retail got into weight. coke, ecstasy and weed. some cross border stuff, but not much - mostly mid level stuff.

I exploited that variations in state gun laws. I got very good at modifying a TEC-9 before they changed the design. I'm pretty good at AR-15 receivers. I've never had a gun license. THERE ARE NO GUNS AT MY HOUSE.

In the course of doing these things, some people have gotten hurt. I might have had something to do with that. I'm working really hard at living a "normal" life. Thats why I post here.

Stealing is way more fun the masturbating.

When I was a teenager, I lived in London. My friends and I got into a B/E habit, and while the goal was to make a little money, the real goal was to get over.

One night, we dropped through the skylight of a warehouse. We're on the rafters, watching the night guard do his rounds. When he was at the far end, we dropped, went into his little guard house, and grapped his cigarrettes and a bolt cutter. Then we split.

We also got a stack of cashmire sweaters out of the deal, but smoking his tobacco was the best until we used his bolt cutters a week later.

Yea, you're silly, but it's a good question for aspiring drug dealers.

As a dealer, you can either move retail or weight. As a retailer, you make a lot of sales, and you know a lot of people. This pretty much ensures that you are going to jail.

Moving volume, you work with a finite number of people, the numbers are larger, but the number of sales is smaller so the risk of arrest is less.

On the other hand, getting caught with a brick is going to put you in a tight spot, and since the going rate for killing someone is about $2500, an $18,000 brick of cocaine is a powerful incentive for someone who wants to change the natural order of things.

The upside is that most people in the business want to remain in business and everyone knows the violence breeds violence, so the chances of getting killed are relatively low and if you avoid dealing with fucktards then you won't have to do anything bad.

    This makes me laugh.

If you read the internet, you would think that americans are all a bunch of gun totin' cowboys who will start blasting away at the first opportunity.

I can say for certain - their is a huge difference between owning a gun and actually pointing it at somebody, and since you only have a few seconds to think about it, if you can comfortably point a gun at someone and be willing to use it, you effectively own the conversation.

Ahh, here it comes. Internet tough guys.

The truth is that I don't have a crew, and if the kids I talked to wanted to kick my ass, they definitely could. There are more of them, they are younger and some of them are bigger then I am.

The catch is that none of them want to kill me, and if they didn't kill me, then I would still be there. The "career criminal" label really means that, while I don't consider myself a bad person, I have been around the block enough times that retribution would be the natural order of things. People would be hurt, some of them badly. Thats just the way things work.

So, I really do get to say "Nothing happens to that kid", because if something does, bad shit will really happen. I know this because bad shit has happened before.

I'm not bragging. The down side to all of this is that in my life, there has been a bunch of bad shit. It is what it is, but I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.

"Everybody Gets what Everbody Wants. I wanted a mission"

Yup. You right. I'm not asking for sympathy.

I do want to live different, but living differently means allowing yourself to be a victim, at least sometimes, and I have trouble with that.

I'm not down with becoming conservative and blaming everyone else for my problems. I'm not down with saying "If that happened then I would...", knowing that I wouldn't. Self delusion wouldn't work for me.

See, if someone harmed my girl or my son, I wouldn't hurt them. Instead, two men would fly in from los angeles, do a job and fly out. Thats the way things work.

I'd like it if things didn't work that way, but I'm not real comfortable with the other options, either. Scumbag? maybe, bit it is what it is.

If by "hold them in place" you mean throw them on the ground, place them in handcuffs, walk them back to the security office and chain them to a bench, then yes, that is what I can do.

And even if I can't seem to get you in handcuffs, the police are usually pretty quick to respond around these parts. It's really not that hard to keep someone on the ground for 5 minutes or so.

I know, some carebear companies don't allow you to do this shit. Mine is pretty awesome.

    > If someone was interested in being a hitman (maybe they saw too many movies, or whatever), what would be the process of doing so? Does anyone start out there, or is it usually more of a side thing?

Qualifier: Keep in mind that being a hitman doen't really pay very well. The going rate for a minority or simple citizen is only $2500 and the truth is that there isn't much call for it. Killing people generally draws a lot of attention and doing it regularly is a sure prescription for jail time, so the saner criminals just avoid it.

If you really want to kill people, join the marines.

Otherwise, you're looking for a high ranking drug dealer who needs to protect their interests. Figure somebody who controls the market in a significant area, something like 50-100K people.

Try not to get killed as you try to contact them - it's pretty easy to end up in a dumpster in that business.

Technically I don't have "police powers", so I can't actually put you under "arrest." But we use the fancy word "apprehension" and it's basically the same deal. We are going to grab you and put your ass into handcuffs.

    Only differences are:

    1. Police get badass weapons, we get jack shit (because our screening and training process is just less rigorous, so it's more likely someone is going to go on the fritz and do something stupid with a weapon and get the company sued... therefore we can't have nice things)

    2. Fighting with us only counts as assault 1 or 2, not assaulting an officer. Not that assault 1 will be taken lightly, but it's still not as bad as punching a cop.

    3. Less people take us seriously, and we get stereotyped as lazy fatasses who are just real-cop wannabes... But I'm fine with that; shit, your surprise is my advantage when I jump on you from behind on your way out the store. (Also, the wanna-be cops thing is sometimes true, but the difference is that most of the people who come through my company wanting to be cops will get hired to some county within two years if they keep a good track record... and those who don't usually are more comfortable being security, it pays surprisingly well as you work your way up and you're way less likely to get shot at.)

you wont make shit as a hitman. Killings come from A. people who are involved in other things anyways which you obviously are not
    B. idiot thugs who will never get ahead
    C. expendable Immigrants who are not paid well, and are completely replacable. In fact in many countries there are organized criminals who have an inexhaustable supply of people they can bring in to do anything they want, and the person doing it doesnt give a fuck about jail as its better then where they come from.

So unless you are already a member of a group, you probably wont make much killing for hire unless you magically coem across a rich person looking to solve a problem.

Ok, so here's something that I can actually bring to the table that might actually help you kids - carrying contraiband.

The rule on carrying weight is easy: don't. If you're into that then the numbers are large enough that you can hire a mule and absorb the costs.

If you're carrying a small amount of drugs in the US, keep in mind that in most states, a cop can search your car for almost any reason, but searching YOU requires probable cause. Typically they will impound the car for some bullshit, but the moment that you exit the car you are a separate entity and they need are real reason to search you. I will never forget sitting on the guard rail, shooting the shit with a cop, ounce of coke in my pocket, watching a team of state troopers tear apart my car. priceless.

If you're going on an airplane - DO NOT CARRY MARIJUANNA! - it's too easy to detect. Anything else is fine, but always on your person. Remember - pills don't show up on a metal detector. Don't carry them in your pockets - safety pin them to the inside of your pants so that they can only be found if you are strip searched. Be prepared to smile while you empty your pockets for the nice man.

Finally - always look like you belong. If you're a freak (I have dreads) then act like one. I come into the country and the question on their mind is "Is this kid stupid enough to carry drugs?" so I need to act like I'm a freak but a smart freak. I offer them my luggage and invite them to search. They assume that I assume that they would find something so they don't look too hard.

I also do security. I dont particularly want to detain people though, I'd rather they just go somewhere else so I can fuck around. I generally just screw around on my laptop or read while keeping an eye on the monitors. Some of the guys I work with think they are cops, one of them seems obsessed with who has drugs on their person. He is an idiot and he's going to end up getting sued. Personally I could care less if you have a dufflebag of coke. if you are not damaging shit or stealing shit then you are free to pass through as far as I am concerned.
Although I do step in when I see domestic disputes, its not really a whiteknight thing, its just really fun to watch the men deflate when I walk over and take charge of the situation.

    > expendable Immigrants who are not paid well, and are completely replacable

This isn't entirely correct. The deal is that for a normal person (not a cop or someone that people would care about), you're going to pay $2-5K to have killed by a professional. Ideally, said professional will be from another city and there may be transportation costs.

You can do it cheaper, but you get what you pay for and if you give somebody $800 to whack someone else, they are going to have no problem rolling over on you when they fuck up and get caught. There's nothing like crime to teach you the lesson of paying for quality.

Yeah, sometimes I think about that shit too, but you only ever do something if you're SURE shit is going down and it actually requires you getting involved.

I hate it when people call me because "This woman is riding the electric handicap cart and her kid is sitting on the back of it and if he falls off we could get sued and blah blah blah blah blah." I don't want to deal with that shit, in fact the worst thing you can do to someone who isn't stealing is have someone dressed up in full security uniform come up and start telling them what they can and can't do. Get the fucking manager to do that shit. It's not my role.

Software engineering during the 90s. I actually grossed $350K in legal work in 1998.

Otherwise - selling cocaine to upper class white people.

    > What are the last 5 illegal activities you commited?

The last time I was arrested I was charged with 18 counts, including 8 or 9 felonies. All drug related.

    > What would happen if you met one of your son's teachers and found that he was a dumbfuck/singling out your son/general bias against him?

I would talk to him and take it through normal channels. There is very little opportunity to leverage that situation if they are following their own rules.

    > What do you want your son to do when you grow up?

An artist, although whatever he wants to be is good. I routinely council him away from illegal activity, even though he knows who I am.

    > How does your family feel about your work? Do you hide it from them, if so then how? Any close calls?

Not too cool with it. My mom and my friends are getting tired of bailing me out of jail and the numbers are getting large: last time it was $50K in bail and $30K for legal. I covered it when I got out, but still, everyone wants me to fly right.

On the other hand, I get to tell my boy and my fiancee "Nobody will ever hurt you twice". They believe it, the neighborhood knows it, and everybody kind of likes that part. Kind of a contradicton, I guess.

Most of the threads here are about "Help r9k, I'm a dork and I don't know how to act."

I'm not being critical, I was young too. I remember having to learn how to talk to girls, avoid the friendzone, etc.

So here's my deal. I've adapted to a lifestyle that involves doing bad things. I've learned what I'm capable of and it scares the shit of of all my friends. But I want the same thing you do. A job, a girl, a life. My problem is that I've been bringing weapons to work for so long, I don't know how to stop.

A guy turned to me at work the other day and said "Dude: what are you doing? this is a software company"

Basic stolen shit goes to a pawn shop. remove the serial numbers, it gives them an excuse to not check the stolen property list.

Stolen ids are harder - a legit store won't touch that. If you've got a steady supply, go to an immigrant neighborhood and find a buyer. You're looking for someone who can distribute them for you, then you can slowly jack the price.

All pawn shops are basically a fence. They are required to compare shit against a list supplied by the police, but their objective is to buy for $1, sell for $2.

So, remove the serial number. Sure, they know it's stolen, but they can't prove that it's stolen, and if they call the cops, then the cops will take their shit and not pay for it.

It's all part of the game.

Securityfag from earlier in the thread again.

This is 100% true. I doubt there is any pawn shop, at least in the US, that is 100% legit. MAYBE if it's out in the middle of bumfuck nowhere, but definitely not in an urban environment.

They ALL cheat the system, just to varying degrees. We've grabbed guys before who have actual written lists of what the pawn shop "needs," with the obvious implication that the bum who is going to bring in 10 boxes of 42count Prilosec is going to steal it from a store somewhere; problem is it's hard to drag this out to a legal connection.

We've shut them down before; generally you just need to work out a deal where some cokehead testifies against a pawnshop in exchange for a lesser sentance. Still, the problem is that the people with the money that finance the pawn shops just open up another one.

it's why even the drug dealers don't necessarily want full legalization - full legalization makes it a sanctioned business with regulations and taxes. decriminalization just means cops don't harass your end user unless they've done something else stupid, and they only go after the dealers unless they do something stupid.

I'm an elderly drug dealer, but I would welcome drug legalization with open arms. Taxes are a bitch. but they're also a constant, and running a business with random unspecified costs is really a bitch. I keep a legal fund, just in case, but legal expenses rise at a really random level.

To wit: I also sell alcohol, with a license. it's expensive and very worth it.

Thats completely false. Decriminalizing it would allow for regulating and taxing it. Legalization just makes it legal for you to have regardless. Decriminalizing would limit what you can and cannot have as well as how you can obtain it and use it.

Thats the problem with legalizing/decriminalizing drugs. It is too easy to get around any government regulation. People know how to make these drugs and how to bypass police in selling them. Most of the cops I've worked with have been, as far as I can tell, straight shooters who never give us any trouble. Whenever we call them for shit they're always here pretty quick and they have our backs, within the limit of the law, until they have reason to believe otherwise

Now, most cops will skirt on the very edges of what they are allowed to do in order to get the job done. Often people are ignorant of their rights and many cops will take full advantage of this. For example, a cop is not allowed to stop you and demand to search you without having probable cause or some sort of warrant paperwork giving him the right to stop you and search you. However, they can approach you and get in your way (making you naturally stop in front of him), and engage you in conversation, asking saying he wants to search you, and without informing you that you have the right to say 'no' and walk away. I've seen this happen multiple times now to kids who don't know their rights.

So yeah, tl;dr, know your rights. (Or better yet, don't get involved in shit that will put you in that situation to begin with)

Many thanks for your insightful commentary on an alternative lifestyle - this is a welcome change from the norm on r9k, and it was a fascinating read.

As a citizen of Northern Ireland, the crime rate here has skyrocketed with the organization of paramilitaries. Both sides of the political divide sell weight, and control all faucets of organized crime from racketeering, extortion and prostitution (with advances in human traffic over the last decade - now the troubles are over, we're seeing a massive influx from the eastern bloc).

I find this stuff fascinating - the hierarchy of organized crime is something which highly interests me, and I really enjoy reading about it, so thanks again.
