I need help, /r9k/. I have never gotten into movies. When I was younger my parents followed the ratings system so I missed out on a lot of movies that other people my age appreciate from that time. I never rent movies and just play games and watch TV in my spare time (most of the movies I've seen were on TV). I go to theaters maybe 5 times a year. I don't know what people are talking about when they are discussing movies, and I'm tired of missing out and want to enjoy what they've enjoyed. I know there are some movies that are really good, and some that every body else has seen that are just well known. I want to know all of these. I prefer action and comedy, but I think my tastes are too limited. I want a huge list of everything I've missed, probably from the 80s and up. I would ask the television board, but I want recommendations from non-experts (because I just want to see what everybody else has), and because I like you guys more. Just to show you how much I've missed out on, I'll try to occasionally mention movies you guys list that I've already seen. Thank you for your effort.

    tl;dr recommend me some movies

(I picked the closest non-dark knight pic I could)

I grew up with the tv and movies. The television was my parent, nanny, and friend. Movies today blow hard. They dont make them like they used to. Do not waste your time with new movies. Trust me.

    What the fuck /r9k/?
You're willing to give 90+ replies to a blatant religion trolling thread but can't name ONE fucking movie?
    Help me out.

I WILL NAME YOU SOME MOVIES

To Kill a Mockingbird. Fuck you, I liked this.
    Papermoon. Brilliant movie, fuck yourself.
Harold and Maude. Oh God old lady sex. I loved it.
Fargo. That accent is awesome, fuck you.
3:10 to Yuma. I happen to like movies that follow the book religiously, even if it is long and drawn out and other people find it boring. Fuck you.
    Labyrinth. David Bowie. Fuck you.
Mirrormask. That shit looked cool, so fuck off.

Okay, thanks. I am not willing to watch to kill a mockingbird because they made us read the book back in high school and I hated it.

Chill out asshole. Its hard to pull movie names out of my ass that I last saw several years ago.

    Here

    coneheads
    critters
    silver bullet
    gremlins
    office space
    ferris bueller's day off
    terminator 1 & 2

Gregory Peck was a hot piece of ass. I also liked the book though, so yeah, I don't know.
    What else is there?
The Godfather? That movie was good I thought, even though it's super popular.
Serpico. I love Al Pacino. He was also good in Carlito's Way.

I don't watch many movies, but here are a few I liked:
    The Cube Trilogy
    The Talented Mr Ripley
    Survive Style 5+
    Idiocracy

Close was okay, if you like sexy couples cheating on each other.
Intermission was decent too, I liked the fuck out of that movie. The ending made me all nervous and shit.
Glengarry Glenross? Is that the name of it? I don't know, the acting was fan-fucking-tastic.

Do you like horror movies? I enjoyed Halloween, the original. That's really the only one I like.

    OP, my advice:
    1.Get a Netflix Account.
    2. Add all the movies in this image to your queue.
    3. ???
    4. PROFIT!

In addition to those films, watch everything Stanley Kubrick has made:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanley_Kubrick
    >> Anonymous 12/14/08(Sun)03:08:46 No.2431708
Go for some classics like Fight Club (just cause everyone talks about it when it comes to movies) and then there are amazing movies like Trainspotting (one of my favorites), Willow (cause midgets and Val Kilmer are fucking awesome) yada yada yada too tired to write more. Anyways, go to Ovguide.com and search for any movie you want and you should find it, just watch constantly for a few days and not rent anything, its free and yeah. Good luck.

    And the movie Hackers!!!

    fuck yeah... hackers...

    1) Names of movies to watch that are really good.
    2) Names of movies that everybody else has seen, that may not be good but are sort of a general knowledge thing.

    No romance.
