Let us now take the other case, which is trivial: if gender is constructed otherwise then trannies are free to construct their gender without any social pressures and on assumption this means that they can just enjoy what they want again without surgery or deviant lifestyle changes.

If it is biologically based though then it is equal to sex. But sex cannot be changed on the basis of reassignment surgery as there are still critical biological functions absent post-surgery. Therefore a man is still a man; a woman still a woman. Thus surgery is not necessary.

It is the contention of this post that gender is socially constructed. In this case trannies should urge people to accept their mental states irrespective of body states instead of seeking to synchronize body states.

Otherwise, trannies must admit they want to be a different sex. Since this is possible on this account trannies could not and have no reason to be accepted.
