Do you like World of Warcraft? Why or why not?

WoW is ok in small doses. Ironically the one MMORPG that allows for people to be lazy and only login once a week for maximum effectiveness, is the one which has 10 million players, most of them absorbed into the game itself.

i like games that have plots and ends. The whole point of grunge work and maxing out your character is so you can get to the next part of the game. All online shit like that is all work and no entertainment. I don't get what the appeal is.
    >> Anonymous 12/13/08(Sat)14:28:14 No.2427340
I don't like MMOs. Too much work for too little pay off. Also, people like >>2427310 and >>2427321 ruin the game, too.
    >> Anonymous 12/13/08(Sat)14:30:20 No.2427349
I like how each quest is like a hit of crack. You finish one and you get this very slight sense of accomplishment. Nothing feels better than a quest log full of (Complete).

Even though it's a large timesink that doesn't really amount to anything other than wasted time, it feels a lot like real life. We're just trying to level ourselves up, upgrade armours etc. In the end we all die but this time no rezzing.

    >>2427333
I'll also point out, who the hell ran around in circles in a field to buy more armour and can levels in final fantasy 6 After they beat it and did all the side quests (side quests also reveal plot, not just some stupid award like most MMORPG's have)
    >> Anonymous 12/13/08(Sat)14:31:17 No.2427356
    >>2427333
Agreed. I don't see the appeal of grindan.
    >> Anonymous 12/13/08(Sat)14:31:44 No.2427359
i played it for a bit.. and i think it's just me

i can't take those mmorpg's where you level slower than slowpoke.. 5 minutes in i was sick of casting the same damn spells over and over and over

after like a week i just quit.. i might play on a different server where the rates are higher.. i can't stand the grinding, but i guess a lot of people like it
    >> Anonymous 12/13/08(Sat)14:32:21 No.2427363
WoW has become ludicrously easily. I have nearly all best in slot items for my character atm and I am barely online anymore and only get online when someone IMs me or calls me that I should get my butt online for raiding or whatever.
    >> Anonymous 12/13/08(Sat)14:33:57 No.2427372
I like it. It's a fun break from college work. However, I've seen way too many people fail college because of it. If you can't moderate, this really isn't the game for you.
    >> Anonymous 12/13/08(Sat)14:35:53 No.2427388
    No.
For all the people saying it was like Diablo 3, it's too slow, lacks the art style, and is too lame.

I hate wow because blizz made me spend 8 hours a day making gold for my epic flyer (I was first on server), don't give blizz more money, have you tried WAR?

MMORPGs in general have terrible gameplay. You would never see a game in another genre get away with "run around and click each monster" gameplay. If you made a game where you just click a red button for hours on end, but which had a server tracking your "experience" and allowing chat, you would still have people playing it. It's just an extreme version of the personality disorder which is attracted to MMORPGs. Some personalities get pleasure out of any sense of accomplishment, no matter how fake. If you are feeling pressure in real life for not accomplishing enough, this game ,recording you levels and experience and "accomplishments," can release that pressure.

But, it is completely false. None of your accomplishments exist, except as a number in a Blizzard server. The game does not improve your hand-eye coordination, your strategic skills, or even your ability to socialize. A retard can beat it given enough time. It is detrimental to your life in every way.

See, I don't understand why people say this about WoW. WoW had plenty of it if you'd only read the quest text. Like the latest thing with the Wrathgate scene? It was hinted waaay back in the Swamp of Sorrows with the original WoW. There's all sorts of plot going on if people would just read the quests outside of seeing "GO KILL 10 BOARS/FEL BOARS/FROST BOARS"

I quit WoW before Burning Crusade came out because it was apparent even back that Blizzard was more interested in raid content than PvP. That's great for the people who have the time to raid and even enjoy it, but it feels like a job to me. I like being able to log in whenever I want, do a quest or farm or kill people or whatever the hell I feel like doing at that moment, and then log off. Fucking having to schedule my life around a game.

WoW's PVP has always been a shitty version of DAOC.

I played for the first time while it was still in beta.
I played for over eighteen straight hours and realized either this was the greatest game in the world or something was terribly wrong with me. Either way, I braced for the WOOWWWWWWWWW all around.
I lived with a lot of rommates who all got addicted pronto, but I still refused to make an account. Although, I still played more than they did. I agreed to level their guys if they paid me a small enough amount for it to seem worthwhile. I haven't played since they all got sixty.

I have problems with a game design that's encouraging me to spend more time in the game all the time. I think this encourages the most redundant, hollow experiences possible. So many of the quests and building are copies of each other.

I'd enjoy it if there was some area of the game where users could have more input or be more creative than hairstyles.

    i'm your standard addict.

    80 Deathknight - 3/5 t7. - unholy tanking.
71 Warrior - t5/t6 - normally prot, fury for levelling
    71 Paladin - Prot
    70 Hunter - t4/kara/pvp
70 Druid - first character, since retired
    70 Shaman - kara gear.
    65 Paladin - for holy
65 Rogue - never play the guy now

and loads of alts below 60.

paladin, warrior and shaman all have epic flying.

Terribly unbalanced PVP, terribly shitty raiding, having to rely on other people to raid, and having them rely on you.

ZOMG!! world of warcraft fucking sucks. Boring repetitive quests.. kill 10 of this kill 15 of this and we will let you level! only to do the same thing over again! fucking boring gay shit.
