I think this is a great movie, if you pretend it's not an adaptation. But compare it to the comic, and it falls to pieces. This is my professional opinion and I hope you like it.
    >> Anonymous 12/20/08(Sat)17:24 No.2390951
The movie itself was average. But no movie has raised my inspiration and spirit that this movie did, and this is what makes it amazing. If you can't feel great after watching this then you're fucked.

    I don't think V for Vendetta is semi-brilliant.
    >> Brotacon 12/20/08(Sat)17:41 No.2391030
As a britfag who enjoys the film, I can honestly say it's a good film. The only problem is, it doesn't feel like the comic book, which felt gritty, noir and very British. You can tell the film is directed and produced by Americans, everything down to the telltale overuse of the word "bollocks" feels like it was created by someone with only a small idea of what Britain is like.

The comic book captures it brilliantly.

Other than that, good film, have it on DVD which is proof enough I like it.

I found it - blatantly obvious - to be very British in comparison to the American comic book adaptions. And any movie with Stephen Fry in it can have my blessing.

    >>2391024

Very true. Kevin Spacey is god.

    Comic > Movie

I don't think there's a director alive who can bring Alan Moore's writing to the screen without mangling it in the process.

V for Vendetta is one of the weakest stories Moore ever wrote. Anyone saying otherwise is a worthless nigger.
    >> Anonymous 12/20/08(Sat)18:19 No.2391206
    OP here, small question.

One of the things i didn't really get in the movie was that Fry's character shows his cultural stuff to Evey. At some point - after they look at the Koran - she sees some black and white photos, which aren't really clear. He then continues to explain that he has a large secret as well. This whole bit confused me - i assumed he is a homosexual yet can't come out of the closet because it's forbidden. But how can you extract that from the scene in a proper way?

Link, please. The only thing Moore's said was that, if he'd known the stylistic approach they were going to take for the rest of the series (no thought balloons or caption boxes) he'd have gone back and applied that to the first few issues.

Koreans cinema seems to be doing quite well lately. They make some awesome action and thrillers at least.
