firstly, this forces people out of their comfort zones to a degree where it strips them of their personality. getting a job, buying dumb little anime figurines, lurking 4chan, and playing video games are all somebody's choice and this can be balanced with pursuing a girl. there's something deceptive and inauthentic about giving up your personal interests to become something you're not just to land a girl and, to me, that's highly unattractive.

Buying someone you hardly know an extravagant gift "just because" will send two messages:
-I'm a desperate loser and think spending a shit-ton of money on strangers will make them love me (Seriously, that flow chart is a couple miles off.
