This movie is the same shit as Equilibrium. Theyre both hamfisted and full of bad dialog.

Only reason people like Equilibrium better is because they slobber all over Bales dick.

Ultraviolet is at least slightly more daring in its visual design as opposed to Equilibrium.

"hamfisted"? what does that mean exactly?

whatever the meaning behind it is, it sounds delicious.

Uncomfortably inserted in an awkward place and not Kosher

UV is the spiritual successor to Equlaibrium. Also probably didn't suffer form the money-issue that Equalibrium had (iirc they ran out of money). Needed more Sean Bean. An E2 sequel dealing with a post-FATHER society trying to cope with "emotion" would make for interesting sci-fi.

Need to watch UV and the new anime.

Equilibrium is the Event Horizon of the "dystopian future" sci-fi genre: It's mostly a mishmash of stuff we've seen elsewhere, but it's satisfying anyway.

Nobody was satisfied by Event Horizon.
I think why some people dislike Equilibrium is that they think it's trying to be deep or edgy.
It's not, it's requires you to think a little bit, but not too much, and the rest is judge kick-ass and visuals.
I mean, it's not meant to make you think, it's not essay worthy and it certainly isn't deep, nor does it take it's message too seriously.
It's just a style over substance movie done quite well.
