I can't believe you morons waste your life here. This is your LIFE. You need to be living with real human beings. You need to go find a girlfriend and spend time with her. You need to find happiness. Happiness is not in your online games or crappy manga books, it is in other people.
Do you really want to be 40 years old and look back to your 18-25 years and realize you pissed them away in fits of loneliness playing RPGs and crying yourself to sleep? I know most, if not all of you, had no real childhood or high school experiences because you were too busy being antisocial losers. Change that, now. How much greater would your life be now had you worked up the courage to talk to that one girl and go to the prom with her? Wouldn't high school have been amazing if you actually went out with friends on the weekend and saw movies? This is why you people love anime so much, because it portrays these perfect people going through high school living the lives YOU wish you could have lived back then.
Stop wasting your time on the Internet. Look outside and see the trees and the sun. Please. There is a world out there. There are interesting people all over. Why do you want to throw away what is left of your life playing fictional RPGs when real life is one big RPG with real consequences and relationships?
Are you just afraid? I mean, look at me, I own this boat.

I'm not fat, and I'm not a weeaboo, but I am a 'basement' (read: bedroom) dwelling socially inept faggot, so the troll is sort of directed at me.

I can't believe that you're trying to force other people into your ideal of happiness. This is OUR LIFE. We need to be doing what makes up happy. Whether that's find a girlfirend, play dungeons and dragons, or beat it to animated porn, or even something else. We need to find our own happiness. Who are you to tell us where it is?

Maybe we do want to be 40 year olds who look back at our 18-25 years and realized we didn't potentially injure ourselves doing outdoor activities. Oh, and most of us don't cry ourselves to sleep. Most of us were probably alright in high school and childhood, but thanks to faggots like you we ended up being only a little antisocial. Oh, and some of us recently saw rocknrolla, which was awesome.

    >This is why you people love anime so much, because it portrays these perfect people going through high school living the lives You wish you could have lived back then.

No, in fact a lot of anime is depicting people fucking up and struggling through supernatural situations and only a small cluster of animes actually conform to what you're talking about.

Yet again, I'll use my time how I see fit bitch.

On a side note, sure is fun to troll trolls who are trolling trolls in an ocean of PISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

I know there's going to be a lot of angry anons in this thread complaining that OP is a troll or something, but I agree with him. I spent my life in my room all the time because I was too nervous to talk to anyone. Whatever friends I did have would pick on me, so that just made me even more antisocial. I really changed my live around when I was about 20 just doing anything I could to raise my confidence (working out, dressing better, drugs like weed and xanax) and it made me open my eyes to start enjoying life.

I'm 22 now and look back at my previous life and regret that I wasted it away in my room. Yeah everyone has their own definition of happiness, but instead of clinging to one situation you think makes you happy, there's so much other stuff out there that will bring you even greater happiness.

But yeah, I see exactly what you're getting at OP.

Y'know, just because somebody uses the internet and frequents 4chan doesn't mean their a basement dweller.

True, but the amount of threads made everyday based on loneliness and relationships pretty much represents /r9k/ now. Obviously not everyone is a depressed basement dweller, but there sure as hell a lot of them around here.

Compare that number of relationship threads to unique posters on 4chan as a whole. Then take the relationship thread numbers and as an optimistic estimate cut out about 30% of them as being trolls.

That should give you a better idea.

And how do we do it, great sage?

Most of us are losers and always have been. We can go outside, but don't know what the fuck to do. We can talk to people, but don't know what the fuck to say. When we try to change our lives it becomes all the more obvious how different we are from everyone else, then we fall back into our old ways.

So where the fuck do we go from here?

Perhaps you're mistaking honest and malicious teasing for friendly ribbing?

Me and my friends tease each other all the time and there's no actual hate or bad feelings behind it. Just playful banter.

I use to be in that place where I assumed all of it was hateful and god was I fucked in the head. Luckily I've learned to get past it.
    >> Anonymous 11/19/08(Wed)21:38:09 No.2184895
The more I talk to people with active social lives the less sence it makes. It's like watching the same movie done and redone with different actors that age gradually.

Not the OP Troll, but the answer is pretty simple.

    Keep trying.

Just because you couldn't figure out how to do high math in a day, or get to level 80 in a single night. Doesn't mean you stop trying.

You have to learn, and learning takes time. Just keep interacting with people and you'll learn how to socialize.

A few quick tips are to keep your hygiene decent. So, shower, and get a haircut/brush your teeth.

Then you need to just start hanging around places where you'll meet people. Start slow, something like a hobby shop or roleplaying games store.
    >> Anonymous 11/19/08(Wed)21:42:30 No.2184937
    >>2184828

Mainly just going to college and getting a tight group of friends. After spending almost everyday hanging out with them smoking weed and drinking, it really made it easier to socialize with people. I know how hard it is to enter a new social group, and I managed to get lucky because I had a friend I knew previously before we went to the same college, and he already had a group of friends so it was easy to get in. Now it's so much easier to talk to people, I don't even hang out with that group anymore, I have a whole new tight group of friends.

Improving my look was just a stepping stone. But it helped a lot, I almost felt like I got a whole new identity from it. Trying to change yourself is hard when you look the exact same, or atleast it was for me. Either way, working out helps a shitload. I'm not talking about buff meathead huge, but enough to look fit and be able to hold yourself up if you get into a fight with someone.

where else could someone meet people. The things I keep coming back to are bars and clubs, but there have to be other options

You wanted places to socialize. I'm assuming you're a nerd, and when I say hang out in the shop I'm assuming there's one nearby where there's a game room in the back.

Either people are playing on computers and conversing. Or there are people doing miniatures games and roleplaying stuff. It's a good way to interact.

Plus it's not jumping into the deep end of the pool when you still have water wings on.

If you want other places? I'd say try taking a martial arts class? or some other hobby courses that get you involved with other people.

Do you snowboard/ski? Alot of schools like mine have trips where they stay up at the mountains for a week. I went last year and met a lot of awesome people. There were only a few girls and they were kind of beat up, but I definitely made more friends after the trip.

Trying something over and over doesn't help when you have no idea how to improve.

You can't learn math by trying over and over to solve a problem that's out of your league; you need to learn every step of the way progressively.

So how the hell do we learn to do this?
