i hope now we'll get devices in which we can broadcast short range on those analog channel frequencies. It'd be cool to setup a streaming server that i could tune into with any TV in my house

Just a fucking ploy to enrich the company that is making the digital tuner boxes. Notice the government isn't giving them out for FREE you get a rebate and still have to PAY for it.

    It's fucking bullshit.

    Well I think it's pathetic.

Widescreen and HD programming is only available during prime time. Broadcast networks should focus on transitioning to widescreen television programing 24/7 and putting it in SD.

Put the HD programming online or on cable/satellite.

no you dumbass you get a debt card that you can go use and to pay for the converter box, the convervter boxes that I got for our TVs totaled up to 12 bucks out of pocket for me. The debt card I got from the government covered most of it.

    >but digital cable only has like 20 hdtv channels

And most of them broadcast in glorious 4:3 stretch-o-vision. Only during prime time they broadcast in real HD. That's why I'm not bothering with getting HD cable in America it plain sucks.

And if a channel does not broadcast in HD most of the time, it's really not a HD channel

yea i hate that, like food network hd.. streched to shit

true hd channels are very few... like hdnet, hdnetmovies, mojohd, ngchd, hdtheater

then the premium hds like hbo hd cinemax hd etc

and the networks sometimes, cbs nbc fox etc

good thing i have an htpc and usenet bluray rips... broadcast hdtv is still very lame
