Let's put aside modern-day controversy for a moment. Islamic societies were pretty much the epicenter of all technological development during the Christian dark ages. They invented everything from reading glasses to modern mathematics to dyes and medicines to important building techniques and much, much more besides.

Western society heavily benefited and borrowed from the Islamic tradition and were it not for them, the Renaissance may never have happened, or been significantly forestalled. Whatever the fate of the modern world would have been without the influence of Islam, it is certain that we would not be nearly as modernized today without them.

There was a time when Christians were the backwater, barbaric philistines and Muslims were the civilized, developed people of the world. Remember this. And remember too that no society maintains its primacy forever.

    It's true.
Our numerals are exact copies of the Arabic ones.
    WE BASE OUR ENTIRE SOCIETY ON OUR 1s 2s 3s 4s 5s 6s 7s 8s 9s and 0s

All fine and dandy until some religious scholar announced that science and reason were heretical.

Then Islam swung into its own dark age and hasn't really emerged.

The failure of the administration to protect these places during the chaotic invasion is I think one of their largest, most basic, and sadly, most overlooked failures. We lost a lot of irreplaceable pieces of human history. Awful.

    Arabic =/= Islamic

Our numerals come from the Romans, which may have come from the Arabic world but it would have been pre-Islamic

I just want to drop a Precision Guided Bomb in the middle of that Mosque in the night and blow up that fucking Black Box. Or better yet, make it look like a radical Islamic suicide bomber blew it up himself, claiming that Allah had come with a message to cleanse the world.

Either way, I wonder how the Islamic would world react to the destruction of the Kabba by a misguided muslim. Especially if it was with a nuclear device.

Lol no, our numerals look nothing like roman numerals, they don't even work the same way and roman numerals don't have a 0.

2008 in roman numerals = MMVIII

Our modern numerals were borrowed from arabs who in turn got them from India.

    DESTROY ALL IDOLRY.
People are worshipping a bleeding figure of the Virgin Mary?
    Mary isn't God.
Turn the statue into component atoms.
St Peter's Basilica is being worshiped instead of God? You can justify its destruction with Scripture.
Christians are supposed to worship God, nothing else. Not idols.
Actually, whats been picking at me is that some Latin Americans accept Jesus because of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Empress of the Americans.
I'm a pretty pathetic Catholic, but when worship over the Lady of Guadalupe takes presidence over God/Jesus, it drives me nuts.

I don't dispute the OP. I just charge that Islamic society, while very progressive for the tenth century or even the nineteenth to be honest, has hardly changed since. But even back then the all of Islam was not part of that brief period of enlightenment. And while Europe in the Dark Ages was very backwards, learning and knowledge had not completely died out there during that time.

The only thing holding Iran back from becoming a third world nation are the Zoroastrians (followers of the old, not so fucktarded and anti-progress, religion of the ancient Persian Empire) that won't let the Muslims take full control of society.
SometimesI think it would be better if we went back to the old pagan religions if we can't agree on agnosticism/atheism just because atleast those religions were not anti-everything good for society.

Islamofags tried to take over the world in the 10th century and still try today, they always fail though. One of the main points of the crusades was to drive them back, and it succeded greatly.
"The Crusades originally had the goal of recapturing Jerusalem and the Holy Land from Muslim rule and were launched in response to a call from the Eastern Orthodox Byzantine Empire for help against the expansion of the Muslim Seljuk Turks into Anatolia."

Christians were never as backwater as the muslims are today. Muslim culture has become increasingly more decadent since the 10th century, and it shows no signs of stopping, luckily.

    Voila! I prove everything.
