Asperger's syndrome/disorder (think autism but not as severe). I have it. ask me anything you'd like. you know how it goes.

    pic very related.

everyone on the internet thinks they have Asperger's
    >> Anonymous 11/03/08(Mon)00:22:35 No.2003880
difference #1. I get out. I have a social life.
difference #2. I actually have had it confirmed by head-docs (never heard of it before that).

    >> Anonymous 11/03/08(Mon)00:32:14 No.2003934
probably have papers somewhere. how would you demand proof of a social life? I'm still horribly socially inadequate in many cases, but I have friends and a girl.

Everyone has aspergers. Literally anyone can be diagnosed by A Real Doctor with aspergers. Yoou have to watch anime and be a jerk in social situations and go on about trains, thats about it.
    >> Anonymous 11/03/08(Mon)00:37:21 No.2003976
I have a friend with aspergers, so there's a purpose with my question, and I can't really ask him.

How is your memory? Has anyone ever accused you of saying something you didn't, or maybe misunderstanding them?

How "free" are you thoughts? If that question makes sense. How hard would you consider it to break your daily pattern if someone asked you to do something, or showed you something new and asked for an opinion?
    >> Anonymous 11/03/08(Mon)00:38:59 No.2003989
If you have a social life, then 99% you don't have Asperger's. That's like saying you have ADHD, but are really good at focusing.

I have very weird memory problems. I often forget conversations and everything I did the day before, but I generally remember more trivial/factual stuff perfectly, forever. it is often very frustrating for my friends when I ask them something/tell them something I already did....several times.

I don't have much of a daily pattern, I'm not so much into routines....only thing I can think of is eating out. when I go to a new restaurant, I'll find something on the menu (I'm extremely picky with food) that looks appealing, eat it, like it, and order it every single time I go there again. every time.

I've been trying to work on it at an Italian place that has a good pizza. I get three toppings, two that I've already had and I know I like, and one that I haven't yet, so I can enjoy it even if I don't like the new topping.

another question about thought... how aware are you about what other people are thinking? Would you consider it hard to.. say pick up a tone in someone's words that is insulting?
    >> Anonymous 11/03/08(Mon)01:52:20 No.2004605
    >>2004325

    I'm somewhere in the middle.

tone generally isn't so much of a problem. like when someone makes a sexual connotation, it's generally in a very joking manner and therefore pretty obvious. but the actual words, and what they mean is more-so.

for example: I had a problem at one of my older jobs where my boss would "ask" me to do stuff, but was actually ordering me to. it was an everyday struggle of translating. i.e. "would you mind cleaning theatre #2? into "clean theatre #2"

I think I'm getting understand tone and thought process down better, but it's still a very hard temptation to not take many, if not most, things literally.

A doctor I have been visiting thinks that I'm most likely Asperger's. I went to see her regarding other problems. Waiting for a referral to the NHS mental health chaps. I'm 21, not a virgin, picked up social skills over the past three years. If you think you have it, don't think you're doomed. Your eccentricities can be made endearing when you gain a bit of confidence and social skills.

well autism-like symptoms can be a symptom of schizophrenia. It's kind of like adult-onset autism in a way.

I think this is everyone who plays video games for more than 2 hours a day.

No offense, not trying to down your social disorder, I have ADHD and people tell me its fake all the time. The medication works, people don't understand though. Then again, that medication could make anyone focus, so maybe its just a training issue instead of a real chemical imbalance.

yeah, but i'd put your balls and dick in my mouth at the same time, deep throat them then bite down hard. you'd do more damage to what's left of your family jewels than i would and you'd live life knowing you made that happen. i'd be dead and happy, maybe even a little famous.

OP here. Rhode Island. entire state is a 20 miles radius =\

    >>2004808
my fixation generally changes over a few years. when I was very young...up until...maybe 6? TRAINS TRAINS TRAINS TRAINS TRAINS TRAINS TRAINS. and pretty much anything the color green.
after that uh....Star Wars I think. ships/airplanes/submarines. I've always been a gamer, but Halo kinda took over when I was....14? until I got my license a year a half ago, then automotive (anyone seeing a trend here?)
right now I'm not really sure what my fixation is. trying to find myself. getting really into health and fitness, eating healthier, running, weight lifting, etc.

    >>2007468
I used to play a fuckton of video games, not so much any more. I do spend most of my time not socializing/working out on my computer though.

    >>2007426
I've had many sleep-related hallucinations before. I was prescribed Ambien for a sleeping disorder, reacted badly, pure terror every night for three weeks or so, and then I flushed them all down the toilet. once in class that I was on IRC, and last week my girlfriend woke me up for school, and I thought that I was in the Star Wars universe (she was Mirax Terrik and wanted to take me to Bespin...go figure) but I think she got the idea and brought me back to bed.
ever since the Ambien incident, I've been a little fascinated with hallucination. I've come very close to trying LSD, etc. several times
    >> Anonymous 11/03/08(Mon)12:23:57 No.2007847
    >>2007832

er, slight correction. had a hallucination during class when I was extremely thinking that I was on IRC. somehow no one noticed I was staring blankly and typing a non-existent keyboard <_<

So? I daydream all the time, and unintentionally do or say the last thing that happened in them, sometimes.

Doesn't mean I have an illness.

never said it was Asperger's related, some guy was just asking about hallucination.

you should try benadryl OP. if you get uncomfortable easily you probably wouldn't like it, it has a very strong body effect, but the hallucinations are very interesting. you see spiders, cobwebs, cats, ghosts, people you know...you hear voices sometimes. it's pretty great.
