interesting as that link is, it kind of misses the point of sheeple.
there are a lot of people out there who are looking for someone or
something to tell them how to act and what to think. they aren't voting
for a candidate or a platform because they necessarily think it's the
right thing to do... because they probably haven't really though it
through at all. they are just following the masses and doing what the
rest of their clique or group is doing. there are a lot of people out
there that are labeling themselves conservative or liberal, democrat or
republican, simply because some professor gave them a convincing
speech, they want to fit in with the rest of the hive mind, they've
read too many philosophers or propagandist without understanding what
it is they are filling their heads with, or any number of other reason.
in the end, they are taking a stand on one extreme or another to the
exclusion of all else blindly. one side or the other might have certain
strengths and weaknesses that make them more or less 'right' or 'wrong'
in relation to specific issues, but neither side is perfect. people who
can't recognize that and try to make their decisions on each specific
topic that comes up based on how the cults of liberalism or
conservatism dictate they should suck. |
