How come young people are so liberal these days?
    >> Anonymous 10/28/08(Tue)02:33:16 No.1950831
they always were. Soon they will have to fend for themselves and realize that the kid in Darfur really doesn't matter
    >> Anonymous 10/28/08(Tue)02:34:32 No.1950844
Because it's popular to be liberal. If it was popular to be raping natives for their land and resources then young people will be all over that too.
    >> Cr9 !PLAN9M8Wsc 10/28/08(Tue)02:34:47 No.1950845
    Because of the Flynn Effect.
Wikipedia it, it explains a lot.
    >> Anonymous 10/28/08(Tue)02:35:17 No.1950847
When the going gets tough, the people turn liberal. Not to mention the approval ratings of the current conservative president.
    >> Anonymous 10/28/08(Tue)02:35:21 No.1950848
This new generation of whippersnappers is no different from the last. Our generation of offspring will seem crazy liberal too when they want to marry a goat or some sort of hot alien monster, but then that will become commonplace.

Liberals are just ahead of the curve.
    >> Anonymous 10/28/08(Tue)02:36:09 No.1950856
no conservativers are behind the curve

    >> Anonymous 10/28/08(Tue)02:39:22 No.1950883
You're heartless if you're not a liberal when you are young and you're an idiot if you're not a conservative when you are older.
    >> Anonymous 10/28/08(Tue)02:39:44 No.1950887
most young people who are 'liberal' are usually that way because they are too stupid and spoiled to know better.

most old people who are 'conservative' are jaded, narrow minded fucks who need the stick pulled out of their ass.

people who venture too far to either extreme would do us all a favor by making a point to not procreate.

Because these days when people think of the words "Liberal" and "Conservative" they think of it in the social sense. Obviously when it comes to social issues the younger generation will be more liberal (Make shit OUR way!) than the older generation (Keep shit OUR way!). In 30 years the same socially liberal kids of today will be conservative, trying to maintain the environment that they finally created for themselves.

Fiscally is a whole different story, but it doesn't matter because most people are too stupid or simply dont' care enough to know about the fiscal side of politics. Most of the more intelligent people I know identify themselves as Socially Liberal and Fiscally Conservative.

Why is it that every politician who identifies themselves as "fiscally conservative" loves to spend trillions on unnecessary wars?

as interesting as that link is, it kind of misses the point of sheeple. there are a lot of people out there who are looking for someone or something to tell them how to act and what to think. they aren't voting for a candidate or a platform because they necessarily think it's the right thing to do... because they probably haven't really though it through at all. they are just following the masses and doing what the rest of their clique or group is doing. there are a lot of people out there that are labeling themselves conservative or liberal, democrat or republican, simply because some professor gave them a convincing speech, they want to fit in with the rest of the hive mind, they've read too many philosophers or propagandist without understanding what it is they are filling their heads with, or any number of other reason. in the end, they are taking a stand on one extreme or another to the exclusion of all else blindly. one side or the other might have certain strengths and weaknesses that make them more or less 'right' or 'wrong' in relation to specific issues, but neither side is perfect. people who can't recognize that and try to make their decisions on each specific topic that comes up based on how the cults of liberalism or conservatism dictate they should suck.

90% of people who describe themselves as "fiscally conservative" don't know what it means. Fiscal conservatism has to do with not using fiscal spending to affect the state of the economy, not about keeping a balanced check book. The difference between fiscal conservatives and fiscal liberals has little to do with balancing budget and more to do with when to spend: fiscal conservatives believe in spending while the economy is doing well and saving while it's doing poorly, while fiscal liberals save while it's doing well and spend while it's doing poorly. Sometimes, spending counter-cyclically means running up debts during a recession, but Keynesians would argue that in the long term, it means we save money because the short-term spending revitalizes the economy.

Everybody thinks keeping a balanced checkbook is a good idea. But that has absolutely nothing to do with fiscal conservatism.

I've never met anyone who thinks that way. I think you just made up a stupid idea to accuse others of having. Or that's how you used to think and now you think everyone else must be as stupid as you used to be.

    It is a art.
