because I have anxiety, and a symptom of mine is depersonalization and derealization, so looking in the mirror at the reflection of my hand moving while looking at my real hand moving freaks me out and makes me uncomfortable.
beside that, I'm just a slob.

My hygiene ironically improved dramatically after I started smoking.

Brush twice a day, scrub my tongue, shower regularly, clean clothes every day.

I only brush my teeth when I leave the house which is about four times every year.

After about seven years of this my teeth are really soft and they crumble if I poke at them and I can only eat soft food.

Somehow they don't hurt at all, but I'm sure I will get ravished by agonizing cavities any day now.

I didn't brush very often until I got braces, then I was forced to brush 2 or 3 times a day. After they were removed, I kept doing it because by then, I was accustomed to doing so.

It feels nice to have your mouth clean.

Teeth are porous. They get stained by fluids like coke, tea and coffee which can get through these tiny holes.

Brushing does nothing to alleviate the yellow colour of your teeth because you're only brushing the surface (enamel) and it's the bit underneath (dentine) which is stained.

If you want white teeth then buy a whitening kit. No amount of brushing with any kind of over the counter toothpaste will ever make your teeth any more white, despite what the advertisements say.
