Fucking police shouldn't have given them this opportunity to look like they have some shred of legitimacy. Now this shit's just going to get more attention and draw in more disillusioned idiots. Fuck.

The expression on that guys face in OP's pic really fucks with me. I don't know what i'd do if my brother was in that state.

I mean fuck we have the right to protest in this country, at least I thought we did.

Actually i don't think so. Police will disperse a protest if you disrupt public transport (<--against the law), is a public nuisance (<--against the law), doesn't have a protest permit (<--against the law - look it up), and a few other things.

i think what you mean is that you have the right to campaign for whatever social or political cause however you want, so long as you do so within legal bounds. People are allowed to assemble so long as they do so with legal bounds (see above).

    yeah

yeah, the guy in the pic looks like he's had the "straw that broke the camels back" just happen. I feel for him, and I've always despised the horrible human beings that some how became police officers. I don't give a fuck who you are or what you do, if you have it in you to murder or hurt another human being unprovoked and without grounds for self-defence or anything, then fuck them. Sorry for guy in ops pic and hope he gets the opportunity to promote justice and vengeance.

It's not literally his brother. They just claim to be brothers since they are both marines and they pretend all marines are brothers, in the same way guys in college call each other "bro".

But anon... everyone knows that if you question the corporations, who are the Lords of enterprise and the guardians of the free market you are a dirty lazy socialist.

Also don't demand a fair wage for fair labor, that is also a sign of being a lazy socialist.

Also don't question why your pay has failed to rise with the pay of your bosses, think of it as added motivation to become rich like them.

Oh... also those corporations may be poising your food and water, buying enough votes to make yours useless, and hording incredible amounts of wealth and resources for themselves and leaving little for you and your family. Don't worry about this, in fact, think of it as incentive to work harder, and be more productive, so that one day, you too can be like them.

Thank you for your time. Oh and don't forget, if you get sick you're fired.

I understand the necessity of keeping protests, protestors and the public safe but I disagree with people having to ask the states permission to protest peacefully. What kind of society are we living in when people want to protest and raise awareness of an issue they feel strongly about but the state just says "lolno" and sends in heavyhanded thug cops to disperse the crowds? The establishment has the audacity to criticise the Middle East and China for using brutal force to silence protesters yet the media actively ignores it when it happens right outside our doors. I always rolled my eyes when people used the term "Police state" but even I found it difficult to deny it when I saw some of the videos that have been doing the rounds lately.

In other words, they're corporatists fighting capitalism, since the two words mean virtually the same thing.
    >> uno 10/28/11(Fri)07:13:01 No.143822
Just because this capitalist system got it a bit wrong doesn't mean that capitalism is wrong. Capitalism is freedom in action. But there is no (scaling) equality and there damn sure isn't any equal opportunity.

    >The establishment has the audacity to criticise the Middle East and China for using brutal force to silence protesters yet the media actively ignores it when it happens right outside our doors.

China controls substance and form: You can't protest because we don't want you to spread your message.
USA does not control a protest's substance, just its form: Spread your message freely, say whatever you want to say, but organize your demonstration in a way that doesn't cause a massive inconvenience.

    Very different forms of control.

    >Just because this capitalist system got it a bit wrong doesn't mean that capitalism is wrong

The capitalist system is what allows great wealth disparities to exist. Wealth disparities don't come about magically. They're the result of a system that allows a cabal of individuals to profit off of the labor of others.

Except that's not at all true. When the government gives special benefits to chosen corporations, and enforces those benefits with the threat of legal force, that is corporatism, and it is anticapitalistic. Lots of government regulations put small businesses at a disadvantage compared to larger, more established corporations. That sort of favoritism, which the major players lobby for, is not capitalistic.

To a die-hard conservative / right-winger / capitalist / w/e "equal opportunity" is the same as "being born". That is equal opportunity.

Never mind that family income is the greatest determining factor in how good your education is, how well you do in school, the likelyhood of you getting involved with gangs, doing "drugs" (pot does not count), and weather or not you go to jail.

Wealth disparities are inevitable. The only question that matters is whether they come about through productive means (consensual transactions) or destructive means (theft, coercion; e.g. taxation).
