Would you join the Empire or the Rebel Alliance?

What are the pros and cons of both and what type of job would you aim for in the one that you want to join?
    >> Anonymous 09/30/10(Thu)11:26:59 No.11334059
I heard the empire pays more. Plus they probably have better benefits like better equipment and stuff

I'm surprised the rebels have planes and shit. Where do they get their funding from?
    >> Anonymous 09/30/10(Thu)11:34:48 No.11334118
The rebels fight for a cause. Against the empire which is meant to be evil. Most stormtroopers probably don't even know how evil the empire is. Or they just want to feed their families and couldn't find a better job
    >> Anonymous 09/30/10(Thu)11:39:46 No.11334146
at least the empire gets cool armor, and you can rape chicks with impunity as they can't see your face

Working on the deathstar would be much better than working on some fucking snow planet. Think of your quarters in the death star compared to your quarters on some shitty rebel planet

The empire has a shit ton of money so you get to use new toys and the uniform is way better. But if you meet a jedi you are probably fucked

Probably the empire. I don't think I'd want to be a stormtrooper (seriously, White armour?), I'd probably be ship's crew. They have the best uniforms.

being an imperial stormtrooper would be similar to being an american soldier, they stuff your head with shit about how you're fighting the good fight etc, while you're really just oppressing nations for resources.

The empires guns have terrible accuracy, also their generals suck. Ever thought off surrounding the jedi and not all standing grouped up to one side?

    I'd still go empire though.

I've gotta admit if i was in a bar and someone said to me 'hey, what do you do for a living?' I'd feel pretty good to say a Stormtrooper so I'd go with The Empire myself, the only con i can see towards them is their blatent lack of training in firing their weapons, those guys have an awful aim.

    Pros of Empire:
    Pay well
    Cool plastic armor
    Working on a space station

    Pros of Rebels:
Better spaceships (i mean little ones)
    They has jedis

    Cons of Empire:
The site where you work can be blown'd up
    Rebels has jedis

    Cons of Rebels:

    Planet can explode
    Shitty armor

    yeah stormtrooper for sure.

think of all the shit that you would have to do as a rebel, zero pay (just do it for the cause!), having to live and act like viet cong, IRL would lose any fight badly etc etc etc

joining the viet cong vs joining the US army

Actually after the clone wars they began do diversify the storm trooper corp adding different clone templates and accepting regular humans for enlistment.

As for joining the Empire or Rebel alliance it would depend on the time period. After the fall of the emperor I would totally join the Empire, they were the only ones not to get their shit totally raped by the Yuuzhan Vong. Before the battle of Endor I would prolly fight with the rebels. They had some sweet ass star fighters.

I would also like to say that George Lucas sucks donkey cocks, the only good movie was The Empire Strikes Back ,the only one Lucas didn't direct, and the books, games, and comics are 100x better than the films.

Knowing the imperial discipline standards (executing freight-ship captains who surrender to pirates for example) I would go for the rebels.
Though I've always dreamed of becoming the captain of an Executor-class star destroyer. I just love the humming sound and the way that thing casts its shadow upon puny regular star destroyers. On the other hand, I'd have to tolerate that asshole Vader on board of my ship, even the emperor and honestly, those guys are lousy leaders with no people-skills.

I hear you. Coruscant was, at various times, the capital of the Galactic Republic, the Galactic Empire, the New Republic, the Yuuzhan Vong Empire, the Galactic Alliance, very briefly the Fel Empire and Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire.

Still, I'd probably stick with the Empire. If I survive their first loss, I might be able to hang around long enough for the Remnant to become the good guys!

I think that most of the evil acts committed by The Empire were done by a small number of their troops and commanders, although in a galactic scale even a small number of them is a staggering amount to us, but most of The Empires troops were peacekeepers and defense forces.

The Star Wars galaxy has never been truly unified. There are always rouge warlords, rebels(aside from the rebel alliance) criminal organizations that can call upon armies of mercs and fleets of pirates, hostile star systems that are not part of The Empire, the list is endless.

From a pragmatic perspective, Empire. Better pay, less danger, higher chance of winning, blah blah.

From an ideological perspective, Empire. The rebels are a bunch of terrorists and upstarts led by a religious caste that the galaxy has FINALLY rid itself of. The downside of this is the insanity of Palpatine and his really regressive cultural policies (Humans first, etc.), but that should even out in a few generations.

The rebels just wanted to destroy the empire at any cost.

They were so enamored with their own Idealistic prospects for the future, they really had no goals other than, "Yeah, bro, we'll destroy the empire and shit, bros. Fight for freedom, bros. We just gotta take down the Empire, and everything will be alright! The Empire is the source of all the problems, bros!"

They're simply 'freedom fighters' who have no goal other than destruction.

This is why the Empire is better. They stand for order. They stand for stability. What would the rebels do but cause chaos and universal upheaval? Planets would revolt and begin their own wars for conquest and power, galaxies would rot as trillions died. Rebels are too narrow-minded, and cannot see the ripples that would occur in the pond by their throwing a rock in the waters.

Yes, the leaders of the Empire are 'corrupt', but do they not ensure planets are livable? Do they not provide health and retirement benefits to their army? Do they not take care of the citizens of their Empire? So what if a leader is corrupt? If the Empire's people are not harmed, then it will just be a matter of time until the leader dies or is replaced.
Why overthrow what is obviously working because a leader is corrupt?

Well the empire just sounds like some all powerful government. A government that got so powerful that it thought it could do anything it wanted. So that turned to evil. Maybe they took things too far and the rebels formed to counter such injustice.

But the rebels could possibly be seen as terrorists. Stealing plans to the new government space station.

The only bad ass thing about rebels was that they had Jedi. Jedi are seen as only good since they have to follow a strict code of helping others etc. And if they were with the rebels then the rebels must be good right?

What is the actual idealistic view that the rebel alliance have though? Is it that all people should be free and not be governed by rules? Because that wouldn't work

how was the emperor corrupt though? He didn't need to take bribes. He just wanted power over the galaxy. With that power he ensured that things worked. There was a large poweful army to protect the galaxy from any intruders.

He was evil in the fact that he lied and killed anyone he wanted though. But as a whole it didn't seem too bad. Like an evil dictator that made sure the galaxy was working well.

Rebels sound like terrorist freedom fighters who don't really know what they're doing. A bunch of kids who want to fight the powa because the empire is too poweful and they font want to obey rules or listen to storm troopers

I wonder how many rebels vandalized empire property as kids

The 'jedi' were violent cultists who used ancient technologies, kidnapped youths to brainwash them into their ideologies, and essentially claimed being an emotionless robot is the best way to live.

How can they advocate peace when they carry with them weapons that can melt military-grade metal, and spend their lives training to use mystical voodoo that can push, harm, and read the very minds of others?

Why wouldn't a bunch of terrorists accept the help of these cultists?

The Jedi did have extreme powers. But they only used these powers for good. They need light sabers to defend themselves against their enemies though. Having a weaon doesn't make you automatically bad

they don't try to convert people to living like them unless they want to. They never forced anyone to do anything

but yes the rebels would accept help from anyone. But it's the fact that Jedi were willing to help the rebels wthat mean the rebels must be good. Since the Jedi are a noble bunch who fight with honor and are always looming out to protect and help others

The Jedi supposedly kept peace and order.

Palpatine was ok at first maybe until he started to kill people to get his way. He lied and cheated to get into power as well. Which can be seen as evil.

The galaxy might have not needed protecting from anyone. They had Jedi for that anywAy. Palpatine just made some massive army and then got too powerful. So the rebels formed to try and take him out.

    But the Empire did.
The Empire is the one who provided jobs for the poor, who provided a chance at rising out of poverty by joining their army (and getting the benefits of joining, as stated in prior posts by myself and others), who gave the potential for intergalactic commerce to otherwise backwater and impoverished worlds.

The Empire is who gave innumerable people a life to live.
What have the rebels done? What have the jedi done?
The rebels are just upstarts who want to change things through violence, and the jedi are nothing more than the remnants of a forgotten culture. The medicinemen of a universe in the throes of galactic interaction.

You forget the empire blew up alderon. That's pretty fucking big man. No matter how many jobs they created, they don't seem to think twice about blowing up entire inhabited planets for their own means

the rebels would have let a new form of government take power. They were just a bunch of people who wanted the empire gone. The rest is up to the politicians

one world, out of millions. complaining about blowing up that world is like people whinging about the US nuking hiroshima. yes, its regretable, but it was done with the best of intentions.

... lets just ignore the fact the empre fell anyway
    >> Anonymous 09/30/10(Thu)15:30:04 No.11336205

There was government evidence that Alderon was the center for Rebel activities, and that there were secret Rebel training spots all over the planet, in towns, cities, forests, lakes. I will admit, destroying the entire planet was a bit much, but if the extent of Alderon's betrayal to the Empire was so much infested into the planet, then what was done was done.

Further, the main thing that is wrong with the rebels is exactly what you claim:
    >They were just a bunch of people who wanted the empire gone. The rest is up to the politicians
They don't care a wit about the universe. They just want to destroy a government for no reason other than they don't like it, and then they'd allow chaos and anarchy to reign, they'd allow for numerous civil wars and planetary conflicts as nations competed with each other to succeed the Empire. The rebels' actions would cause more blood to flow than any other war in the galaxy. The power vacuum caused by the Empire's destruction would murder billions of trillions for centuries, or even millenniums!

And what if the new government that takes over is one these rebels don't like? Will they rise up again to overthrow it, to murder trillions more in their fight for "freedom"?

I ask you, how many must die before these rebels are satisfied?

    >>11336165
Yeah but they didn't need to do it. One world at first. Then another. Then another. Why did they even need a lasor that could blow up entire planets.

It doesn't matter if the empire fell or not. The question is are they evil or were the rebels the evil ones?

And did the storm troopers just not know how to aim or were their blasters just shit?
    >> Anonymous 09/30/10(Thu)15:35:41 No.11336270
I would most likely end up joining the Rebel Alliance if anything, the Empire's blasters don't have any accuracy at all, fuck that shit.

The storm trtoopers were under orders to allow Han solo and Luke to escape with the princess so that the tracking device they left on their ship would lead the empire to the rebel base.

Watch the start of a New Hope. The stormtroopers wipe out the rebel resistance on tantive iv with little to no losses in very little time. They can be ruthlessly efficient and accurate when they are really trying.

What I dint get us why no jedi went nuts after they received their training. I would have been all like "you want to have sex with me"

and I would fuck hot chicks with boyfriends and shit. If their bfs had any problem then I would show my light saber. What would they do then? Call some storm troopers? I'd light saber their asses and repel their lasers

problem is if they put a bounty on your head after you did that too many times. You don't want too many bounty hunters chasing you

but man the fuxking chicks part sounds pretty good. They would actually want to fuck you as well

I do find it a bit strange that the first thing I can think of is to trick sexy women into sleeping with me once I have gotten my Jedi powers though
    >> Anonymous 09/30/10(Thu)16:00:21 No.11336645
I'd be a janitor for the empire. The empire has infinitely more money than the rebels, and their shit doesn't really get dirty cause it's all in space and made of metal, and people's skin are covered in those storm trooper suits so the dust doesn't really happen that much. I'd be making more money than a rebel janitor, and be doing less work.

Just as I am there long enough to learn some Jedi skills with the light saber and most importantly the Jedi mind trick. Even with just the Jedi mind trick you could go and have a decent life

trick bitches into sleeping with you. Earn money by tricking people to give you money or give you high paying jobs.

I suspect many jedi or Jedi drop puts did the exact same thing. You just font hear about it cos the media want to keep it secret otherwise the public would get really scared and it would cause a panic to know there were rogue Jedi tricking women into fucking them. And trucking others to do things as well

I'd join the empire officer corps. Try and become a low level officer, maybe in charge of a small frigate one day. Keep out of sight and out of the battles. Maybe a laundry or garbage ship or something. Remain loyal to the empire after the fall of Palpatine, but still never engage in hostilities. If I ever came across rebels, humbly turn the other direction and gtfo, never enage in direct combat. Like one of those cops who sees bank robbers and just turns his head to the side.

This is the empire we're talking about.

I'd go to the academy, do all the training, etc. work my way up faithfully and by the time I'm 40 or 50 I'd be in charge. Not gonna be super ambitious out of the gate brah.

Also, if the empire killed as many officers as you'd believe then they'd have a rebellion themselves, not to mention as serious lack of authority figures and trained leaders. Look at the Red Army in the latter half of wwii, it was an utter piece of shit.

But if you avoided any battles with the rebels then they would repremand you for incompetence. No more promotions for you.

But if you somehow specifically requested to be in s laundry frigate you probably wouldn't be involved in many battles anyway.

that is somewhat true. During Anakin's time... jedis couldn't have relationships or touch or do anything with the opposite sex. They were basically monks. While during Luke's time the new jedi order wasn't morally different but socially different. They were closer to the gray of the scale.

How powerful you are with the force depends on how much allied you are with good and evil. That is why the Jedi didn't do "evil" things to make them more atoned with the light. Look how bad ass Obi was when he fought Vadar in revenge of the Sith.

Another thing the movies never really tell if the empire was oppressive to the people. In the thousands of years of the Republic the citizens never rebel. Yes some federations came and went but the Republican only saw war ever 400-500 years.

Form a 3rd fraction who claim to want peace, and gather planets and systems throughout the galaxy to my cause. Bide my time, attack after the death of the Emperor. Destroy the rebel alliance with the combined power of my army the others. Also gather the remnants of the empire. Bring peace and justice throughout the galaxy.

Depends. If I'm magically joining as someone with a position of power, Empire, because it had the potential to be a completely invulnerable engine of dominance that could go on to smack down those fags from beyond the outer rim like they were step-headed redchildren.

That said, it would require getting Thrawn onto the frontlines, keeping Raith Sienar alive, getting the stick out of the Emperor's ass that kept him from replacing the shit TIE platform with the Advanced/ad/d models and pumping the Interceptor out IMMEDIATELY, then stopping the random political crap that got the Imperial II from being okayed, along with the AT-AT...

    Yeah, that'd be a clusterfuck.

Otherwise, Rebellion, because they understand quality beats quantity, and the Empire as it was never had the balls to go full-on swarming people with the absolute cheapest and best tech they could.
