To all the loneyfags and sadfags that claim they have 1) no friends 2) no social life 3) never been touched by a girl and 4) that nobody loves them... I have a remedy for you.

You need to find a passion in life. Something like a hobby, but that you're 100% dedicated to and honest about.
You need to find a passion in life, and no it's not playing vidya, or collecting anime.

Find something that connects you with the outside world, something that highlights the best of you, and why people should admire and look up to you. Photography, cycling, doing sport, painting, graffiti art, making music, making shit, anything, building birdhouses, anything at all. Something that shows you are not only in tune with the environment around you, but that you enjoy doing something very few people share.

The magic of that is of course you can share it, and in that, you shed your loneliness and depression.

    Try it. Find a passion.

I was thinking about this today. How do you find a passion? I have things I like to do, but the only thing in recent memory that has given me any kind of strong feelings was being with my past girlfriends. I was passionate about them. I can't think of anything that I want to be THE BEST THE BEST at in life, except that when I was with them I wanted to be the best boyfriend, best lover, best everything to them.
Clearly since I'm on 4chan right now it didn't work out but I really don't know what else really rustles my jimmies, give me some ideas anon.

I love blowing glass but I haven't since I graduated and since I haven't put the effort in to find a new shop yet it clearly isnt my passion.

I thought I wanted to teach but I dont think I have the passion for (modern)art in order to be able to teach it to other with any kind of conviction. I do love making things though.

I know I've got fuck all motivation to realistically find a passion. That said, I'm in bands and go out playing music all the time. Despite the fact that there's a massive social network of musicians around town, I supernaturally manage to not socialise with anyone.

    Skillz.
    >> Anonymous 09/13/10(Mon)20:00:49 No.11116036
    OP here,

Let me tell you this: A personal story,

We've had our ups and downs, all that shit, but more often than not, we see ourselves in a pit where nothing entertains us anymore or really matters much.

We don't get excited like we used when kids, and we have to get that spark back.
    >>11115918
Yeah, me too, I remember trying to be the best boyfriend, friend, lover all that... but when things didn't go my way, I got massively discouraged, then cared less and less... The hardest thing is to find a passion, because if you have nothing that you think you can be good at, you need to try a crapload of things to find one.

I always hated cycling, always, I had a shit bike, no where to ride, a total weakfag. I found myself on a bike over summer, totally diffferent to my old one, and I loved it. As soon as I got home I bought a new bike, and now I'm riding the shit out of it. Learning the ins and outs of cycling, and having a huge sense of freedom I never felt before.

I can ride on my own, ride with people, it's all good, it feels amazing.

I am passionate about the future of humanity, and thinking about making the world and mankind as good as they can be.

This makes me pay attention to politics, which then causes me to rage at the massive amounts of stupidity and short sightedness and subsequently hate the world.

Trick to getting a band together: Know at least one person who wants to do it and then put up posters. OR play in public regularly enough for people to snatch you up to their own projects when they like your playing.

I'M ALSO A BASS PLAYER AND I FUCKING LOVE DFA1979. I actually play a Rickenbacker 4003 with a nice ODed tone these days as well, but not nearly as balls out as Jesse Keeler's because I'm sitting behind guitars and playing more prog/punkish stuff. What joy.

Yeah, but to relink to the actual topic, if you're anything like me it's easy to still fail socially when in a band.

But yeah, my problem is that I have a good friend that plays drums but

    1) Sucks, cos he doesnt practice enough
    2) Listens to faggy shit, so we dont have common music ground
    3) Doesnt want to be in a band, and if he does, it would be some gay generic shite.

like 2 weeks ago, i bought a new based (well it was used, but it's new for me). it belonged to some hippy man that sold it to me real cheap, he never used it. it's a peavey milestone IV.
i also have an acoustic guitar, and a friend comes sometimes and we play a little, but it's like in your case, he doesn't practice much either.. and we dont play that often either

    not bad OP.

For a while I've loved music more than anything about life. I'm a pretty good drummer. I get better all the time the more I practice, and so I should reach expertise maybe in the next 3-5 years (sucks that I didn't start playing when I was 10). Playing music with decent musicians is about the most fun thing I've ever done, I can't wait to be able to do the complicated tricky stuff the best drummers can, but also do it with really a good guitarist.

I also feel close to the same about work. You can have a very meaningful passion for your work. I do mental work, and I get off on my analysis being as careful, concise and precise as I possibly can.

Also drugs are great, but you gotta keep that shit under tight control or you'll fuck up your life, obviously, and there are some drugs you should never do...

Considering all that, it would simply be illogical to spend my time bothered about just about any girl when I have other ways to fill my time very meaningfully, unless the girl is tip-top...
