I did a small stretch in county. I only did 6 months. It really wasn't bad at all. When you're in jail, you just basically mind your own business keep to yourself. Be friendly to guards but not too friendly.

There really aren't too many stories to tell. There were the occasional fights between some inmates, but that's really not a huge deal.

You kind of get stir crazy when you're in the pen. I made good use of the prison library. I read a lot. I lifted weights. I played cards with other inmates to pass the time.

Oh, and there was no raping going on that I was aware of. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but it seems that it gets embellished quite a bit.

I went in for armed robbery (Australia)

Basically my experience was lots of working out, lots of playing cards and watching TV.

Mind you all my time was spent in remand centres (pretty much a year in remand). Guards where assholes, inmates mostly cool except for a small percentage, but people just avoided them anyway.

So yeah, boring, no rape or beating.

I don't think the book carandiru has been translated to english, but it's a very interesting book about prison life, the movie is good too, but it puts different stories together to create more interesting plots.

AFAIK, prison rape only happens in maximum security shitholes in states with a lot of niggers.

I've been in jail before for 2 years. There is virtually no rape. Contrary to popular belief, prisoners don't rape to show that they're top dog. It's actually because they've been in there for so long and are so desperate, they'll resort to sex with men. There were a couple of gay guys there who were treated like kings (queens?) because they'd consent to sex with almost everyone.
Also, there aren't a lot of fights. It's more of a "don't piss me off, I won't beat your ass" kind of philosophy in there.

I was in county jail for 45 days serving time for 2 weed charges. I wasn't in a cell, it was a big room with 50 or so bunk beds. Only one 'boss man' aka guard watching all of us. Most people were older, from 25-70. That's why they deemed me, 'lil yungsta'. Most were in for DUI, child support, meth, pills, robbery, etc. Not any serious crimes really, those people were in a seperate unit than me. Basically all I did was read books, do push ups, talk to criminals, and think. It gave me a lot of insight of things, especially hearing about some of the shit these guys go through. Makes my life seem easy and stress-free.

I kinda want to go to prison before I die, I don't know why though
