    Anyone else in Social Purgatory?

I'm not experienced enough to be around well-adjusted adults and be able to discuss adult topics such as careers and politics; But I also do not have the cred to be with hardcore nerds since I do not watch cartoons and anime nor play video games.

In way I guess I am, though I have learned to tolerate/fake enough to be able to hang out with people and have friends anyway.

But still, it's a chore to hang out with most people because they try so very hard to fit into their subculture.

With the classic nerds you have to learn to tolerate their surprisingly inflated ego's, because they are oh so very intelligent, and the non-intelligent people (the majority population) are all just mindless automatons. And you have to be on board with their own social norms, you have to be edgy atheist and laugh about christfags while sucking Dawkins cock.

Hanging out with your average jocks is a chore as well, because it's party, girls, sports, party, girls, sports repeated ad infinitum. I enjoy going clubbing with some bro's, I enjoy watching football now and then, but I can't base my entire life around these things, it makes it feel meaningless.

    Continued...

With the hipsters/emo's/scenepeople in general, you are only as good as your vintage clothing, your knowledge of obscure music no one else listens to etc. You get bonus points for adding obscure things to your lifestyle, like going buddhist, just because it's edgy. It's a constant competition to be as different as possible, while still fitting in with the pretty narrow line of social norms.

Hanging out with vidya nerds you have to learn to cope with everyone's unhealthy obsession with their favorite vidya. A good portion of vidya nerds are ridicolously competitive and are difficult to socialize with, because they really want to play vidya, and preferrably their favorite game, but they are most sore losers in the world should you ever happen to beat them at their vidya. The fanboyism around their favorite vidya makes any discussion about it impossible as well.

Hanging out with non-vidya gaming nerds (eg nerds who like tabletop games, warhammer, MTG etc) is pretty much the same thing, but instead you have to deal with their obsessive need to be know-it-alls. Better watch out if you ever forget a rule, they will come down on you with the force a thousand suns in a race to see who can correct you first and thus "show" they know the most about your particular nerd interest.

And then once a while you find someone that has interests in several fields. My theory is that it mellows them out so they do not possess the extreme characterists of any one group. They usually make great friends.

I'm like that. I guess I really should find a scene but I'm too ashamed.

I like some videogames but I haven't owned a console for the past 2 generations, I like some Anime but I've never watched all of Inuyasha/Sailor Moon, I like some film but I don't like any of the Godfather films. I could go on for ages.

I think it might be because I was one of the first generations to have internet access at 18, I cant form a distinct set of skills/knowledge, rather its like I amalgamate the top search results from google instead.

How do I become pro at something?

bitch girl next door bullies the protagonist, but when some girls hit on him she gets jealous. Typical anime story with a possessive 'bitches and whores' story line to keep it grounded in reality or that's how it was roughly told to me.

The gimmick is the dude of the story is in love with his older sister (not blood-related) and she kinda likes him, but she's also a ferocious troll and she knows he likes her. So the comic is mostly her trolling the fuck out of him.

I kinda am living in such a hell.
I have a knack at not realizing when what im saying is going too far.
For some reason I was hanging out with jocks in highs chool once and they talk about how a random girl has huge knockers and how they jerk off to her. Me, trying to fit in, say some bs like "oh hell yeah, jerking off to her would be great, with some anal stimulation as well, and possibly using a banana peel for lubrication/fake pussy would be great".
Needless to say, I went home that day early for they would not let me live it down.

This, I think it invalidates the whole point of it being a subculture. I also think its why boards like /a/ and /v/ and /g/ have become so shitty. Instead of people posting their opinions, it seems to have become a fucked up popularity contest of who is the best at posting on the board.

Just like how /b/ is full of people who want to get doubles and troll because they think "thats what people do on /b/".

That's not the gripe though. The problem is you are really only supposed to have hobbies in one field, and your hobbies in that field need to fit special criteria.

If you have hobbies spanning several fields, none of these subcultures will really let you in. So you have to "supress" certain hobbies and interests, depending on who you hang out with.

dude the texture of a banana peel is fucking godly. best bit is leaving the last bit of flesh in the end to stimulate the feeling of hitting the uterus (I have no idea what it actually feels like, but it provides an adequate physical metaphor)

One time I took too much flesh out though, and got that spike up my urethra.

also cumming into a banana peel things don't seem to smell, and it doesn't leak through like normal tissues.

I'm not the OP but we are the same person.
I play vidya and read what is considered literature and watch films I find interesting and listen to music that I like and draw things I don't really want people to see because it's more of an outlet and I play a little guitar but not good enough to be in a band and I smoke a lot of pot and ignore a lot of people and at the same time put up with a lot of people because if I didn't I wouldn't have friends and that's the one social norm I seem to care about following. Chances are the OP and I are a lot alike, different interests in all sorts of things but there seems to be a problem with being accepted by the die-hard or "definitions" of a subculture or niche or clique because we aren't doing everything "right" to be allowed in their secret clubs.

The only other person I know like this sort of fits into the college bro culture but he's a lot more intelligent than his peers and by happenstance he's my closest friend. It sounds nice but when you're in the position I am you kind of realize that compared to his best friend you don't really mean anything at all and all those compliments kind of hollow out.

What the fuck are we talking about.

I'm similar to you OP. I do however take great ineterst in politics. Other than that, I'm not a hardcore nerd nor a hipster nor a jock. Most people though don't like to talk politics or history. I have a surface level appreciation of nerd hobbies like science, technology, and video games. Even on politics and history, I'm not at a super high level. I couldn't hang with real ivy league intellectuals and authors for sure. Music I dabble in, certainly not a guy with half his hard drive full of obscure music. The thing is though, I know about more in a lot of these areas than the average person I run into. The average person is the sports and clubing types who consume the mainstream culture. While I don't live in underground subcultures, I also don't much partake in mainstream music and TV, etc. So I'm in social limbo and/or purgatory as well. I'm sort of stuck in the middle.

Cut off one end with a knife, hollow out the inside, and it's ready. Though depending on how large your penis is, you might need to cut a slit there so that the peel won't burst into treats.
