OP, I suppose you've never commented on any field other than your own?
You don't give people computer advice based on what you've read on the
internet, because you're not an engineer or a software developer. You
wouldn't help someone with their math homework, because you're not a
mathematician. You wouldn't dare to comment on a book you read or a
movie you watched, because you've never taken a course in academic
criticism. And I'm sure you don't vote, that would be ridiculous given
your lack of political science degree!
I'm a professional
physicist, by the way. Sure, it annoys me when people horribly
misinterpret science and act like know-it-alls (quantum mechanics=time
travel LOL!!), but I have a remedy for that: I correct them. And if
they just mention that they saw an interesting documentary, that's
great, I can have a conversation with them about something that we're
both interested in - and it's always good for the ego to have a
conversation like that where you're clearly the most knowledgeable one. |
