    ITT College administration horror stories.

    >Finish FAFSA on time, technically, but far into the year
    >All seems coo' on school's registration site
    >4 weeks ago, selected for verification, must send all my tax infos
    >Okay, get that shit done
    >Wait 2 weeks
    >Status finally changes to received, even though I shipped it priority
    >Wait 2 more weeks
    >2 documents marked incomplete (with no explanation), 3 still un-reviewed.
    >Receive an email notifying me I will be purged from the university system unless I'm validated (ie paid tuition)
    >Process of validation entirely in their hands
    >Call FinAid office
    >Don't even get put on hold; mostly answering machine, picked up ONE time, hear silence, they hang up
    >FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

Fuck this school. Pic related, fellow blackfags; don't believe the bullshit about HBCUs, go to a real school.
    >> Anonymous 07/14/10(Wed)23:44:14 No.10085077
Um... why not try going down to the FinAid office and taking care of it?

I mean, yea, that's shitty, but don't call "Game over" just yet.

    >Get 32,000$ scholarship to tech school
    >still 30 grand short, can't go
    >get accepted to another 90k tech school
    >still too poor
    >mom too rich from divorce, can't get any grants
    >all scholarships fall through
    >go to community college, no scholarships, pay with loan
    >dont learn anything, 8th grade curriculum, get bored and hit 2.0 gpa
    >move in with dad, he's too rich for me to get grants so I continue to pay shit with my loan
America, where you're too rich for help, but too poor for school. Feelsgoodman

Why not go there personally to settle the matter? If it's important enough to you, that is.

Full ride. Also, my entirely extended family basically said they would drop all support for me if I went to the school I was planning on going to. Again, this was a stupid idea the stupidity of which I did not know until after the fact.

    >>10085077
*sigh* Fucking... Yes, I'll probably have to do this. Though I feel bad for the people who are out of town and can't just waltz in whenever they want. For me, it's still like an hour away.
    >> Anonymous 07/14/10(Wed)23:49:26 No.10085158
Blacks getting into college because of affirmative action is a big misconception. Colleges will let you in based on academic history and more so based on your ability to make sure they're being paid cash. College is a business, not a free themepark. Being black does not mean you'll get into free.

Oh and that Financial Aid bullshit? Racists who complain about it obviously don't know a single thing about how the system works. Financial aid is given to an individual based on income, the number of people living among them, and other non-racial factors. I hate how racist whites will do anything to discredit the achievement of blacks who are trying to do something good with their lives.

I'm with this anon. I always had ridiculous troubles with financial issues while going to college, but, usually only a few visits to the finance office and they were pretty cool and willing to work with me. Got through school with less than 5 grand in debt.

    >FAFSA
    >selected for verification
    >turn in paperwork next day
    >sign up for next semester's classes
    >months pass
    >go to first day of class
    >not on the list
    >go to office
    >spend 3 hours going back and forth between different offices
    >turns out that the Financial Aid department lost my paperwork
    >too late to sign up for classes that semester

    fuck them all

I got shit from my parents for "skipping" a semester, but it's not like they're paying my tuition. Went back the next semester and everything was fine.

It was kind of nice having an unexpected break.
