Despite the board's reputation to the contrary, I've actually found /r9k/ to be a reasonably consistent source of fairly decent material.

There unfortunately is a fair amount of adolescent/twentysomething "that feel when no gf," spam and related misogynistic rubbish, but if you can overlook that, most of the rest is ok. Not necessarily stellar, but ok; and given what /pol/ has degenerated into these days, "ok," can be a serious upgrade.

Unfortunately there are signs of Stormfag migration into /r9k/, but they are slow and still relatively minor, at this point.

Since /r9k/ doesn't have a set topic to focus on, the topic of threads will gravitate towards what teens and young adults are interested in, and what concerns them. People would think it's /lit/ or /sci/ because of the board themes, but the general userbase doesn't live up to that expectation. The averages suffer simply from all the children going there out of innocent interest without too much knowledge. If you ask me, /g/ is the most informed.

/lit/ is a fucking joke though, /int/ is terrible most of the time, /r9k/ varies severely... honestly I would probably have to give the title to one of the least text heavy boards (I don't think I've ever seen serious drama on /c/ if we consider minimal memespouting/shitposting to be a necessity), or /pol/ on a good day, depending on your tolerance for shitposting.
