You just move on. When the site launched it was very different from 2007 and so the oldfags from then called people from that era summer or newfags. Now those guys are the oldfags and the 2010guys will soon take over. You either move on, only come back for a certain niche or keep up with whatever's trendy.

You can always just try going to slower paced board. The worst posters are always on the fast ones.
>>
You'll find it out when you move on yourself. Various corners of the Internet, nowhere in particular.
>>
Other image boards mostly. Some fairly well known, some not so much.

Wouldn't pointing them out defeat the entire purpose?

i'm an oldfag if my terminology is correct. not an originalfag mind you, but i've been here a long time, seen some shit. because it's all shit. it's almost pure crap. /b/ was never "good" for instance; it's pretty much always been the asshole of the internet. if anything, there's a lot less illegal content there than before so it's probably improved. If you're lucky you can still find "good" threads there, or maybe /s4s/ now if you're looking for quality trolling. I browse multiple boards and see a lot of the same shit i always see lately implying no one is going anywhere, right? I mean, /pol/ is still happening and Jews and political compass stuff. /a/ appears to still be circlejerking lolicon nerds. Your thread on /q/ (which has always been for qq-ing) is literally yostuba-chan crying about the end of 4chan, which is proof there are still trolls all over the place. 4chan is alive and well my friend. (^_^)

I'm ignoring today's "happening" of course... I imagine every board will be full of shit today, so I'm probably just gonna lurk /q/ and play videogames on fullscreen. Kudos to the mods though; I think happenings got you stepping up your game. I saw an OT thread on /pol/ deleted before I could report it that had no replies yet... normally i report and hide those and they go to image cap... *rolls eyes*
>>
>>552368
/s4s/ is the less cancerous version of the /b/ you are able to 'enjoy', if you want to call it like that, at the moment.
>>552623
>(^_^)
>*rolls eyes*
You are obviously an oldfag.
Most people who call themselves and beg for attention with this term are either pretty new or are just in need for some kind of verification of their own worth.
If you refer to /pol/ as something which is here for a longer time seen on the entire existence of this board, then you are the kind of person I expected to call themselves 'oldfag'.
The only obvious thing I can see is that you are probably an emoticon-using and avatarfagging tripfag who may leave now. Thanks for your attention

O_o... I'm not going to leave because you call me names. Baka... Step up your game, onii chan. I like this picture of kirino; it's cute. And it seemed like a good "explaining things to someone kindly" sort of picture.

But anyway you were right-ish about /s4s/. It's good parts are like /b/'s good parts. For those of us that understanding its backstory and have watched it develop it has been awesome. I've been calling it the new paradigm in shitposting. I don't really lurk there just take a peek every once in a while. It's almost never been a disappointment.

I've been here since early 2005.

/b/ used to be cooler because people posted wittier things (sort of like early /r9k/, before it became a gangbang of whining) and because it used to be full of people who had a great sense of humor and knew their way around Photoshop.

I stopped coming to /b/ around 2009-2010 and went to Digg, and then reddit. Came back when /r9k/ opened, then left, and eventually came back to /fit/ and /trv/.

All the oldfags left are in /fit/ and /fa/. They've realized if they're going to continue to browse an anime forum, they might as well improve their lives in the process.
>>
i've been here since 2006, and i can tell you that oldfags are just an illusion. being an oldfag is not about how much time you've wasted on the boards.
it's more of an attitude, really. a shitposting "newfag" and a shitposting "oldfag" is indistinguishable from eachother.

but many expats are moving to other *chans, like 420chan, 7chan, desuchan (if you're a dollfag)

(continuing) Anyway, as for your question- the answer used to be redddit. Before the Digg exodus, reedit was actually an awesome little community. I'm convinced- and there's actually an infamous old reedit comment which argues this as well- that the oldfags went there when exposure from Anonymous and Chanology started bringing in the hordes of newfrienditry.

But then, of course, the hordes followed the oldfags there, and now redddit is a festering cesspool of children spouting le memes.

Now, I think the oldfags have gone in two directions. The normalfags and non-NEETs have graduated from 4chan and gone out to live normal lives. They come back out of nostalgia sometimes, but when they do, they leave disappointed.

And the truly unsalvageable, the real neckbeards, have retreated deeper into the internets. Other chans, deepweb maybe, I'm not on the pulse of the Internet enough anymore to guess. Some of them might remain in the smaller boards, but they, too, visit infrequently.

This is the way the world ends: not with a bang, but a whimper.
>>
Smaller boards.

It's only a matter of time before these boards also get overrun.

After that, I'm not sure where else to go - other than the smaller chans.
>>
Some hang out on /q/.

Other still lurk /b/. Posting an old meme on certain threads will always bring a happy response from a nostalgic /b/tard.

According

>To answer OP's question, most of the original faggots went back to FYAD
>Calling the original ADTRW/FYAD faggots oldfags
>The year of our saurian lord 2011

Those were a bunch of faggots that only posted loli and retarded idiocy because they wanted to "transgress" the rules of SA around 2004. They left when 4chan closed on August that year.

>>552368
/s4s/ is like /b/ between 2008 and 2010. It's not a carbon copy at all, only a tame joke of what it was. It's bad, a little better than /b/ in terms of contribution but still bad.

Honestly I think /a/ has been recovering somewhat. It has yet to be worse than 2009/10, with the exception of early 2012. Incidentally, both were times when spam was allowed to run wild.

Personally my problem is the rest of the site being overrun by normalfags. They claimed /v/ and they brought /sp/ and /pol/ upon us. All I want is for the site to be primarily about Japanese pop culture again. The only reason /a/ has slowly been getting a bit better is because they isolate themselves aggressively from the rest of 4chan.
I'd love a secession of all the Japan-themed boards but who would maintain a new website for them?
Most of them changed, adapting to the standards of newfags.

I'm not a super oldfag, but I've been here when the term OP was starting to become used on 4chan if that tells you anything.

From a time where trap didn't mean transexual, and people actually did lurk moar before posting in order to learn board culture.

I'm proud to say I lurked a year and a half before I even made a single post on /b/.

Nowadays, any faggot 12 year old just in anywhere and shits up the place. I think the rate of decline massively increased about the time of the great cancer, such as the TIME article and those guy fawkes fags claiming that they were the true anonmyous of 4chan instead of newfag cancerfaces.

Eight years later and a lot of fandom-jumping and a break for a while after the Dragonzord bit, (that's another story) I mainly hang out on /co/, /m/, /toy/, /pol/, /tv/, /vg/, /vp/, and /d/.

I suppose I differ from other oldfags in that I'm fine with how most of 4chan's changed in the superficial areas. New people aren't really a bad thing, as long as they try to live up to the older standards, but not to a fault. There's a light touch to take with it.

Reddirt. No joke.

I started on 4chan around 2004, migrated to 420chan around 2008 then came back to 4chan around 2011. Now 420chan moves too slow and 4chan is a shitbox full of serious faggots trying to mold the place into an echo chamber. Thanks to generation iPhone, /pol/ and the whiners on /q/, this place has lost any semblance of fun and creativity it used to have. /s4s/ seemed hopeful at first, but the parody elements were removed and now it's just another board for newfag /b/tards, with slightly less moderation. The problem is twofold: Anons started taking themselves and the site way too seriously; and mods are beginning to enable their seriousfaggotry. I miss when this place was mostly trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls, but those days are gone. It's now trolls trolling anally raeped seriousfags, who lack any sense of humour about themselves or the world around them. This place is dead. It's time to move on. At-least Reddirt has thousands of subreddits to cater to an enormous array of interests and the site doesn't pretend to be something it's not.

I lurked there for the first time a few weeks ago.

you mean you idled there for a few weeks
and I don't even know what you mean by "there". There are thousands of irc servers, saying you lurked there is like saying you went on a website, pretty broad.

Generally a good idea is to not idle a lot on smaller channels, actually chat a little and such. Big channels there are tons of idlers so meh.
