If racism is prominent enough to be specifically mentioned in global rule #3 as a bannable offense outside of /b/, I'd likewise like to see a specific mention of sexism. I report it when I see it as rulebreaking content for trolling/flaming, but it would be nice to see it called out specifically since it's a widespread problem on pretty much every discussion board.
>>
You are right we need to remove the rule against racism just to not give you SJ feminists a inch.
>>
>>707435
What does "SJ" mean?
>>
>>707440
Social justice

P.S fuck off shitty troll
>>
>>707442
That's not a satisfying answer. I still do not understand. Does that word have an actual meaning or is it the new buzzword for "things I don't like"?
>>
>>707444
> I do not understand
It's okay, we know you don't. Here let spoon feed you child.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_justice
>>
Sexism follows the same guidelines as racism does whether or not it's explicitly stated in the rules. Report it when it is shitposting, off-topic, or an obvious attempt at derailing a thread, grow a pair otherwise.
>>
>>707447
>understands and values human rights, as well as recognizing the dignity of every human being

That sounds very reasonable.
>>
>>707440

Not knowing what SJ is pretty much proves you are new here. For someone who spends a lot of time shitposting on /q/, you sure know absolutely nothing about 4chan.

>summer
>>
>>707451
The terminology "SJ" is not site wide. Not everyone posts on your favorite boards.
>>
>>707450
Of course it does.
Reddit.com/r/shitredditsays/
Here are some people who agree with you :)
>>
>>707383 (OP)
You realize you generally have to break most of the entire rule to be banned right?
>>
>>707451
Why do you assume I should be familiar with your redditor terminology? After all we're still on 4chan and not on reddit. It is rather your psychological deficit not to recognize that posters from different boards and with different interests don't share the same knowledge.
>>
>>707454
So you do not agree? You dismiss the idea of human rights? Why?
>>
>>707460
Yup this site disregards social justice which you agree with.

Reddit.com/r/shitredditsays

Go home back to your people
>>
>>707463
Please answer my question. Maybe you have convincing arguments. What do you think is wrong with the idea of human rights? Would you like to be tortured or to be denied access to medical care?
>>
>>707457
Isn't this that butthurt 6TTwhoever?
>>
>>707455
I don't think that's true, especially when it comes to dubs and things that are image-specific. I've seen bans for vanilla trolling.

>>707463
>>707465
Can we not have this discussion here? This is irrelevant to feminism and social justice.
>>
>>707465
I just told you if its part of social justice i am completely against. you how ever are for it so you have something in common with SRS.
>>
>>707467
>6TTwhoever
Who's that?

>>707468
>This is irrelevant to feminism and social justice.
Nobody was talking about feminism and according to >>707447's link "social justice" is a synonym for accepting the idea of human rights.
>>
>>707468
What discussion is there to be had? I can't think of a single time that a sexist post would be rule breaking where it isn't already breaking some other rule. It's covered. This thread serves no purpose.
>>
>>707471
So you agree with SRS then?
>>
>>707470
Why are you against it? What problem do you have with human rights?

>>707474
I do not know their views.
>>
>>707457

What the fuck are you talking about? I post on 4chan, I have nothing to do with reddit. I have never said anything about reddit. SJ gets thrown around all the time on 4chan, even if you only spent a couple of months here you should know what SJ is. If you have been here for the past couple of months on /q/, you would know about the term because there were tons of posts complaining about SJWs posting on /pol/ over the past couple of months.

Of course you wouldn't know about this because you are new here. And you are shitposting like an idiot on this board because you have no knowledge of 4chan whatsoever.

>>707460

You had no idea but Social Justice issues until 5 minutes ago. Please read the actual article and it's criticisms first and consider that people might be more knowledgeable on the subject because they've spent time researching and forming their opinions over time.
>>
>>707475
That its apparently a synonym for social justice. I have explained this three times now. So you admit you agree with social justice
>>
>>707472
Well, a racist post would likewise also already be breaking the trolling/flaming rule, yet it's still specifically mentioned. Adding "sexism" to global rule #3 next to racism would be a quick and easy one-word change.
>>
>>707476
>SJ gets thrown around all the time on 4chan
No it doesn't. Again, stop assuming every single person browses your boards. I'm aware of the social justice position but I cannot even remember if I've ever seen it abbreviated "SJ" on a few of the boards I post on.
>>
>>707476
>SJ gets thrown around all the time on 4chan
Not on the boards I browse. Usually I stay away from containment boards.

>Please read the actual article
I did. The article says SJ is a synonym for human rights. I don't understand why anyone would oppose human rights.

>>707477
I enjoy my human rights and I wouldn't want them taken away.
>>
>>707482
So you admit you agree with social justice?
>>
>>707479
A change for what? It adds nothing to the list of rules. I'm not against it, I don't care. But it does nothing so I feel nothing needs to happen.
>>
>>707483
If it is nothing but a synonym for human rigths, I see no reason why I should dismiss human rights. They're beneficial for all of us.
>>
>>707486
You keep evadeing the question. Do you support social justice or not?
>>
>>707479
Dude. That rule is not seriously enforced anyway. No one gives a shit if you got told you were a whore on /r9k/, and you don't need a special modification to the rules just so you can calm your mild autism. Like, I understand the principle, but it is honestly pointless. You are either browsing boards where the post will not be deleted, or the post is already technically against the rules.

I mean, I guess it doesn't take effort to make a thread, and you have a legitimate suggestion, but does it honestly bother you that much? If so, why are you even here? Not in a MUH SEKRIT CLUB NO GRILLS ALLOWED, type way. I just mean, how did you make it long enough to stay here and make this thread? I really am curious, if you are that sensitive about the issue.
>>
>>707488
I did answer that question more than twice. You should work on your reading comprehension.
>>
>>707486
Social justice is in practice only special treatment for gays/trannies and identity politics. In the way it's referred to here it's the new movement that has nothing to do with general human rights.
>>
>>707488
Shut up you fucking retard. You are doing nothing beyond calling her SJ and saying it is bad. I understand the point you are failing to articulate, that the social justice movement is implemented poorly, but I'm beginning to wonder if you even know what I'm talking about. I suspect you're just parroting things /pol/ and /r9k/ told you and are part of the reason on or both of those boards suck major dick now.
>>
>>707493

I feel that definition is too narrow in scope. I always feel the modern internet version of the social justice movement is just adding "not hearing things that may hurt my feelings" as another fundamental human right. In which case, >>707498, this discussion would be on topic because a rule mentioning no sexism would make it less likely someone's feelings would get hurt.

>>

Nothing. They are upset because they feel it is beginning to take place in the real world on a geo-politica; level, and that the wikipedia definition of social justice that they didn't read but linked you to supports this.

I used to avidly browse 4chan but as of late I've reached my threshold with how toxic the environment is in the boards I lurk are towards girls. It used to be a minor annoyance but I've come to realize that it's probably not good for my mental health for most of my socialization to be in a place full of people who think I'm subhuman, heh. These days I come here exclusively for the denpa threads on /jp/, although I still poke my head in other boards from time to time. I realize that this seems like a rather petty request, but I think it would be a good change.

I have to say I don't see it very often outside of /r9k/ or /pol/ and I imagine /v/ and /b/. Granted, I don't visit every single hobby board of the site. I can see your reasoning for it being added, but I hope you do realize that it likely won't affect post quality very much.

No, but there are people who feel as though speech should be censored in order to make absolutely 100% certain that nobody's feelings could ever get hurt. Which is something that some other people would find ridiculous.

Downvoting is a quality of reddit and sage is not a downvote regardless of what other people might have told you. As well, you say you are new here but you are already trying to involve yourself in things you do not understand because you are new. Learning about 4chan's culture takes time and you should lurk more before you try to have things changed to your liking.

Meanings are mutable, not absolute. What sage means in 4chan is determined by how people in 4chan use it, not by how people in 2ch or 2chan intended us to do so. If you happen to buy a pair of sneakers made in Japan you don't take them off before going into someone else's home, that'd be stupid and so is to pretend others to do the same. If I sage a thread with an aggressive or low content post and the OP feels offended then sage is precisely that, a way to express disapproval by implying your thread is not worth a bump.

ProbIem is that you (or anyone else who asserts there's a true meaning of sage) fails to acknowledge the whole sage concept was, in the first place, taken out of its native context (text-boards) where threads don't 404 when adapted to futaba style image boards, where old threads are naturally pruned by new ones. This is a fundamental difference because it allows a sager to reduce the already limited exposition of a thread, moreso if we take bump limits into account (also alien to text-boards and forums), in which case sage can effectively be used as a downvote (-1 post). This phenomena can be better understood if you tried to post in a fast moving board with several thousands of users, like /b/, where the use of sage you propose is irrational and completely out-of-touch with board mechanics.

Even other English and non-English speaking boards have adopted this use of sage, most noticeably Krautchan, in which sage appears spelled in red letters, all-in-caps and accompanied with an exclamation sign (SAGE!).

Your post shows not only a complete disregard for cross-cultural semiotic variations in favor of a vertically engineered outcome approach but an unwillingness to adapt to different social environments that borders cognitive impairment.
>>
>>707545
>doesn't recognize his "infamous" ID

>>
>>707523
It's a big problem in /cgl/, which is infamous for being the "woman board," so it draws a lot of posters from /r9k/ and the like looking to stir up trouble. It's also quite common in /jp/ and /a/. There was a thread in /jp/ just yesterday where people were talking about the application of silly hairsyles in anime to real life where girls with those haircuts were posting politely and answering questions that turned into a giant shitfest because people were upset that girls were on their board.

I know that this addition won't actually change anything if implemented, just like nothing has changed about racism, but it would be a nice confirmation to know that when I report posts like "women only pretend to like my little pony to get male attention because they're whores incapable of genuinely liking anything" they're actually being deleted. (I saw a thread like that the first and last time I went into /mlp/, haha.)
>>
>>707549
I recognized it, hell, I'm the first one in the thread to call him out for it. But if you don't show it up on /q/ all the /b/astard /q/ueers will think it actually has an argument.

They shouldn't be attention whoring, and I'm not being "sexist"--the same would go for if males browsing 4chan posted pictures of themselves. It's /jp/, not /soc/, and according to Moot all pictures of yourself belong on the latter board. If you post them elsewhere, it's a bannable offense. The only thing the people did wrong was not report them.

>>707561
I was unaware that moot has said that photos of yourself are to be limited to /soc/, even where they would be considered on-topic for the point of discussion, but somehow I doubt that's completely true because this would make most of /cgl/ rule-breaking. The thread was even babysat by a mod who was removing the spam until it became unsaveably off-topic. But even beyond people posting pictures of themselves on boards where doing so would be questionable, which I realize is a very gray area and probably not a good example to bring up in retrospect, it would be nice to see confirmation that text posts of the kind I mentioned are deleted.

In other words: A clusterfuck of internet tough guys that give Tumblr a bad name. Pardon the reddit link, but this is what "Social Justice Warriors" are truly like.

>and as you know, the trans community must be pandered to
Since when do we have to pander to mentally ill people? What's next? Is the schizophrenic community gonna demand that we all believe in aliens or something?

In this case I don't see what "SJ" has to do with the OP. She did not threaten anybody.

This will probably ignored among people screaming "GO BACK TO TUMBLR!!!!!!" but a big reason sexism isn't enforced is because your gender as an anonymous poster does not matter and is impossible to determine unless you post with a tripcode and a timestamped picture, in which case you're asking for anything you get.

If it were possible to just look at somebody's real gender easily then I imagine sexism would be covered in rule 3 for the same reason that screaming NIGGER NIGGER JEW JEWISH NIGGER is also covered under racism, but oh look, that isn't the case.

How is screaming that that all women are whores different from screaming racial slurs? Even if no one outs themself as a female it's not uncommon to see unprovoked posts like that, just like it's not uncommon for people to post about how much they hate black people and jews even when no one has prompted it by prefacing their post with "As a black man..." to deliberately incite it.

According to that logic racism rule should be enforced only on boards with flags, stating what ethnicity you are is also attention whoring in most cases. And sexist slurs are also used on 4chan ass well as racial slurs.

I don't see why you care so much about posts like that to want it covered by rule 3 then, sounds like it's already covered by rule 6 and there's no need to make additional rules for it.

/pol/ is always right. Always.

Racism is already covered by those rules too yet it still gets a special mention, presumably because it's a sitewide problem. By that reasoning, it makes sense that sexism should also be mentioned in this rule because it's equally prominent, if not even moreso on boards like /r9k/. Either call out both or neither.

>it's equally prominent, if not even moreso on boards like /r9k/.

That's wrong though, and I would also note that rule 6 doesn't apply on /b/.

Do you walk around on the street and randomly insult strangers? Is this what you consider "free speech"?
>>
>>707714
Yes

If everyone is forced into the same opinions because a higher up considers them "right", nothing ever changes and culture stagnates, and might even fact suffer and die because the supposed right as wrong and harmful all along. Let people have opinions all they want, who cares how much it differs from yours. We might as well ban mentioning windows on /g/ if we give a shit about racism, sexism, or some other hot button issue that still hasn't been completely resolved.

Mods should just delete shitposting instead of paying special mind to if someone hates niggers or thinks that some women are useless whores

Maybe you haven't seen it on your home board but it's definitely a problem on the "nerd culture" hobbyist boards.
