One Piece threads and Naruto threads occasionally happen when new chapters come out, andn that's generallly accepted, but not when it's only purpose is to shitpost.

As someone that has spent 3+ hours a day on /a/ for the past two years (and a regular user many years before that as well) I must say that the shitposting on /a/ is definitely a problem but one we often overcome. I'm a little torn on the ban in that image, though. I mean, sure, it's a rather brainless topic. If the board were to devolve into nothing but posts like that, then I'd say it's in need of drastic reform.

But it's precisely detached that kind of mentality that lends /a/ (and indeed, 4chan) that bizarre quality that makes /a/, /a/. Out of the hundreds of thousands of anime forums there are on the internet there aren't many quite like /a/. Borderline topicality issues like that OP ban also apply to telling people asking for recommendations to try Boku no Pico or the "we're all little 2D girls" sentiment (one I do not share but tolerate). You could probably also ban a wide number of posts if you're going to go after that OP. I think /a/ does a pretty good job at self-moderating due to the bulk of users that spend 5+ hours a day on it.

All that being said, /neet/ or foolz or whatever is a fucking problem and they need to be dealt with. Regrettably I lack the tools or knowledge needed to do so.
