4chan as the title suggests, at this point is now Reddit 2.0.

People are now freely linking Reddit links/posts and threads now. With no consequence. A few here and there for arguments sake would be alright. but apparently it's over whelming /pol/ at this point.
I seen a couple on /v/ and some other boards.

Can we at least try and discourage or stop reddit linking? If you can get banned for some obscure fucking bullshit spam detector, why not ban reddit links? It won't stop them but at least help them understand that this is not a reference place for reddit threads and links.
>>
>BULB HOO HOO I HATE REDDORT CUZ THEY TALK ABOUT THINGS ON THE INTERNET WAHHHHH

sage

There has never been nor will there be a rule against linking to Reddit. There was a filter in place, but all filters are useless due to leddit, r3ddit, Le Site, and so on.
>>
reddit has high quality discussion, so of course people on this shit site are going to link to it.
if you have a problem with it fuck off, or better yet actually post quality threads and discussion on this site so people won't have to look for it elsewhere.
>>
>>618068
>reddit has high quality discussion
Stopped reading there. Not saying 4chan has quality discussion by any measure either.
>>
>>618057

You didn't sage, good job dumbshit.

consider the following

modern day /v/ is shit because

>work safe
>Not strict enough mods to ban shitposters, permanently (LOL ARE U CUT /V/?)

and most important

/v/ isn't the vibriate community it once was, we never hold big Quake games or due anything together anymore, 4craft was a failure, so inb4 4craft.

The root of the source is young people from highschool or collage who learn about 4chan from there friends and start wildly shitposting without respecting the community or the culture. Now we would like to think /b/ is the root of the cancer, but it is just a gateway for the cancer. /b/, believe it or not, was once a fucking awesome place, probably the funnest place on the internet from 2003-2007. 2007 is when kiddies starting learning about the Habbo Hotel raid, the Scientology fiasco, and the whole fox news "HURR ANONYMOUSE IS TERRORISTS!!!" which brought in alot of edgy teens and political nutjobs (IE /pol/).

rules 1 and 2 were not respected, and thus faggotry contaminated 4chan.

I say we need a fucking purge. No more shitty advice dog variants, no more ironic shitposting, no more "HAI /B/ MUH GIRLFRIND DOSNE'T LIEK ME PLS HALP" or "/B/ HAK DIS PERSUN, DIS PERSUN IS BAD GUISE!!!!" and more community activities.
>>
>>618197
and modern day 4chan in general, I just used /v/ as an example.
>>
happening on /sp/ too, tell people to fuck off back to reddit and they say >lol u must be from /v/

yeah, because /v/ is the only board that hates reddit, right?

just censor this shit again
>>
>>618197
Boo hoo. This is the Internet. A tool for sharing and exchanging information. Of course new people are going to eventually find their way here. That's the nature of websites. It's going to change, it's going to grow, this isn't some exclusive clubhouse in your backyard. Yeah 4chan has gone downhill, but it wa going to happen eventually. If you really want a completely exclusive that was never designed to grow, take it to the deep web.
>>
>>618212
please re read my post again. I have no problem with new fags, it's just that alot of them don't read the rules or lurk before posting. Heck I'm a newfag myself, came here senior year of highschool back in spring of 08.
>>
If you guys like reddit so much why don't you just fucking stay there?

if it has high quality posting why don't you stay there?
>>
>>618222
Ah, I see, less the fact that there's more people, more the fact that people don't bother to even understand the rules or culture. Yeah, I can see that I guess.
>>
What is it with you people ad treating Reddit like the sites Mortal enemy. Reddit isn't even concerned about you people in the slightest, just stoop bringing them up every chance you get.
>>
>>618251
Nothing unites people more than a common enemy. It's true that Reddit isn't really as much as a concern as people make it out to be, it's just that people desperately want something they can hate on together with.
>>
>muh 4chan secret club

Yeah, no.
>>
>>618259
Just because it's not a sekrit club doesn't mean you can act like a retard.
>>
>>618263
Just because it's not a secret club doesn't mean there are no consequences for acted like a whiny piece of shit over another website.
>>
>>618266
>acted
Fuck.
>acting
>>
>>618232
so wait. we're only allowed to browse one website? well, this is news to me.
>>
People who bitch about reddit on 4chan are the same shitposters who are ruining 4chan. It's just the latest scapegoat the shitposters use to explain why 4chan is sinking in quality. Before it was reddit, it was summer, before it was summer it was gaia. The real reason is the idiots bitching about other websites instead of just making better threads. You can cry about other sites existing but it won't make 4chan better.
>>
There are, believe it or not, some people on this site who don't get into a frothing rage whenever the very existence of reddit is mentioned. These same people also don't get into a state of immense personal discomfort and anxiety whenever someone posts a link to reddit. Surprisingly, it just so happens that the owner of this site is one of these anomalous personalities, and therefore allows links to be posted. Getting upset over links to reddit is just plain immature and stupid, a ridiculous over-the-top (and generally baseless) reaction to a link to a website that you don't like.

(For the record I don't use reddit, but I suspect at least 90% of people who spam "gb2 reddit" don't use it either. I've never understood the "reddit hate" and frankly the only reasons that have ever been given to me to justify it have proven to be bullshit upon investigation. I highly suspect the whole thing is just to fit in and seem "cool").

>>618083

If neither reddit or 4chan have high quality discussion, what's your foundation for disliking reddit?

>>618085

You're a moron. Sage on /q/ is invisible, it works differently to other boards. It works the same way nokosage (used) to work, in that it does not bump the thread but it doesn't have any visible indication that sage was used in the post itself.

>>618232

If reddit links on 4chan bother you so much, why don't you leave 4chan?
>>
>>618279
Your parents didn't even teach you that? They should be ashamed.

Different websites are different. Forcing the culture of one into another is destructive. Do you want everything to be homogenized, normal, and boring?

>>618283
Making good threads doesn't stop bad threads from existing, and making good posts doesn't stop threads from being derailed by shitposters. The only way to do that is to keep bad users out. Come up with a better way to drive them out, and people will listen.

>>618251
Reddit has subreddits about 4chan, with huge numbers of users, who post links to 4chan. There have been plenty of cases of good threads getting destroyed by influxes of idiots where it was revealed that reddit was already posting about it. This effect makes it impossible to create popular OC.

Whenever site X is obsessively paranoid about site Y, it's a sure sign that there's a lot of overlap between the userbases and people who are familiar with both, especially ones who quit using Y, are recognizing problems from Y appearing in X.
>>
>>618328
Then just ban everyone who complains about reddit existing. That will eliminate 90% of the shitposters. Problem solved.
>>
>>618055 (OP)
i agree.

no more fun off-topic posting
no more potential for oc
no more friendly banter
no more fun allowed
rules must be strictly followed so no fun can be had

i like it. reddit is a awesome place and is strict like gamefaqs. i love how moot stripped the soul out of 4chan just to be like reddit and gamefaqs. no more secrete club and more mainstream :D

when you gonna do another ama on reddit again moot?

Every day it's the same with you retarded scapegoating faggots.

Oh no, the feminists/reddit/normalfags/Facebook are ruining 4chan!

It just makes you feel good to demonize some outsider. There's rarely any evidence to support it though.

Someone mentions lebbit and redditurd faggots come out with their superiority complexes and their walls of text as if anybody gives a shit what you fedora-wearing faggots have to say.

because this is 4chan.org not rebbit.com. there is absolutely no reason to post about some shitty american hive of misogynists, atheists, pedos etc on 4chan. please just stop being so entitled and return to rebbit

Maybe we should have got Samuel Jackson too, so that we wouldn't need to go to reddit.

>step it up moot
>>

It kinda reminds me of how Kimmo Alm would react when people suggested that AnusTalk was inferior.

Walls of text about how AnusTalk was for quality discussion and so on.

>4chan as the title suggests, at this point is now Reddit 2.0.

Other way around.
>>
I'll respect raddit as a community when it
1. Gets a userbase other than euphoric grown-up That Kids and permanently rectal raged SJWs
2. Stops jacking our shit and using screencaps to go LOL LOOK AT 4CHAN SO WACKY
3. Redesigns its god awful interface.

Until then I'm just not gonna go. And for everyone involved in secret club shitflinging, let me just say this. No, it shouldn't be an exclusive club where you have to prove years of membership to post a reply. BUT, there are certain conventions and means of posting which should be learned and respected. These have been almost entirely eroded by people who learn about 4chan from knowyourmeme, 9gaag, or some other website, hop over here, and get confused when every post isn't so funnay me-mes. All we so-called "sekrit-klubfags" want is that people act like they're on fucking 4chan. Lurk for a bit. Learn the style of discourse. Remember what's acceptable and unacceptable. Don't post like you're on a different website, because you aren't. God knows individual site cultures have been almost wiped out in 2013. 4chan is one of the few which can be distinguished from the broad mass of Web 2.0, and I want it to stay that way.

Not on /mlp/, and if, they'll get dubbed.
