The rules regarding VNs with adaptations aren't as explicit but mods sure act like they get the same treatment as LNs with adaptations. Meanwhile there is nothing that suggests that video games themselves are allowed on /a/ even if they have an adaptation.

With other threads it would be more difficult, for example AMD vs. Intel threads. There will be genuine users who debate about the benefits of each chip manufacturer. I am aware that astroturfing in these threads will be hard to identify. Still, if you would examine these threads more closely you will see them.
