Nah, that's /b/. When I first came here 5 years ago /b/ was my first board. I was impressed by how many reasonable people there were and how they freely expressed opinions even though they were politically incorrect. I shared many of these views but would have never talked about them IRL. Over the years I had several good and civilized discussions with other anons on political topics. /pol/ nowadays is nothing like that. /pol/ is what happens when the facebook generation tries to be edgy. The whole "look at me being sooooooooooooooo offensive and btw did I mention that I'm offensive xD" thing is simply overdone and ruins rational and reasonable discourse. /pol/ is less about sharing and discussing political opinions but about role playing and memes.

The users of this sub-forum consider themselves to be brave for daring to speak openly a worldview which is only held by a small proportion of the population.

These behaviors have caused somewhat of a backlash against the sub-forum, and thus much of the rest of this site holds it in contempt.
