Can't the mods just ban any future /v/ga threads in the following days?

The shitstorm can't be avoided, better safe than sorry don't you think?
>>
>you can't talk about video games
>on the video game board
Wow.
>>
You realize you are causing what you want to prevent by doing this right?
>IT WILL CAUSE A SHITSTORM
Yeah, thanks to you retard. Stop taking things so seriously.
>>
hahahah oh wow
>>
>>445576 (OP)
Oh, and of course: the shitstorm can't be avoided... only if we don't do anything about it. If we don't react in time, everything will be lost.
>>
>Not realizing the rest of 4chan is laughing at you, and your reaction to this thing
I say we sticky it.
>>
>>445585

it should be stickied otherwise we'll get 100 different threads
>>
>>445584
You know that the shitstorm is only caused by faggots like you taking it too seriously.
>>
You realize ignoring it would be the best option right? The problem with last /v/gas was how everyone got ass blasted over it. Just don't be an autistic faggot and everything will be fine.
>>
>>445586
No, we should sticky all 100 threads. Or at least just 5.
>>
>>445576 (OP)
Some people think its fun, Fuck off.
>>

That's why the 2011 /v/gas didn't cause a complete shitstorm, right? Oh, wait...

Some people think Call of Duty is fun.
Some people think My Little Pony is fun.
Some people think Loli, scat and guro are fun.

It caused a complete shitstorm because people on /v/ are autistic and took something no one should be caring about made a big deal out of it.

Won't happen, there will be tons of bait and autists will rage hard.
>>
>>445596
Then ignore the autists.
>>
>>445595
Then why not ban all discussion about it? Hate threads and the normal ones.

Just make it so people can only talk about it on /vg/
>>

Its /v/.

I've been thinking. Why is it we don't disallow people who post on /v/ to post on other boards? You know, to contaminate all the shit in one place. It could just be a simple mechanism which logged your ip and then if you posted on /v/ you couldn't post on other boards for a week.
>>
>>445605

Except the /v/GAs didn't cause anything except two days of minor butthurt. The split was because of the 24/7 LoL generals that had been on the front page for months.

It's a community built event, if you don't like it, then it's a problem you have with the community.
Memes have always existed, now because they got popular it's cool to hate them just like everything else /v/ hates, but in the end almost all the jokes, skits, and even announcers had something to do with the /v/ community.

Everyone was certainly excited for it. Too bad the finished product left most of the viewers scarred and and embarrassed even after a year it transpired. No one fucking wants this shit again this year.
>>
>>445659
I was being sarcastic to make a point. Arguably the first /v/GAs started this whole witchhunt for users from That Site, when they probably don't want anything to do with us because their own site meets their needs.

I agree there is a lot of paranoia in and around /pol/ though.

I was fully expecting a 2 hour loop of SANIC. What I got was much better than I expected. If it were just a two hour loop of SANIC this wouldn't even be issue and no one would care. The reason people do care is because people take it seriously. That alone shows it must be worth something.

Once you stop caring about /v/, this sort of event becomes much more entertaining.

/v/ is going to shit all over itself in an effort to clear out this shit that dwells within it, could this be the time they finally manage it!?
>>
>>445711
Yes it's just a tiny few people who hate this. That's why no one ever expresses any love or praise for the magnificent job they did with last year's vgas.
>>
>>445712
I agree, /v/ is nothing more than shitposting ground. Even moot likes to shitpost in /v/.
>>
I wonder how much worse /v/ is going to be after this year's VGA. Maybe it'll get so bad that Moot will finally actually do something about it. Nah who am I kidding no one gives a fuck about /v/ - Shitposting.
>>
>>445724
>Maybe it'll get so bad that Moot will finally actually do something about it
Moot is a massive meme-spouter who makes off-topic stickies on /v/. I doubt it.
>>
>>445724
Why would it be worse afterwards?

You're not one of those morons who thinks the only bad things on /v/ are from people who aren't *real* /v/tards like yourself?
>>
>>445728
If you don't think that the VGAs last year negatively effected /v/ in anyway you're delusional.
>>
>>445733
Well this should be good for a laugh: In what ways was /v/ worse afterwards, and why?
>>
>>445739
You came to /v/ a year ago, you wouldn't understand.
>>
>>445739
/v/ started a witch-hunt among its own ranks to deal with an 'invasion' that never happened.
>>
>>445739
For starters the "newfag" swarm that may or may not have happened created this whole crazy "war" between /v/ and r/gaming that resulted in endless shitposting that hasn't ended.
>>
>>445744
Nice deflection there, the newfag thing is a bit played out though.

>>445745
That started before the /v/GAs, you think this is /v/'s first witch hunt?

/v/ has a new scapegoat every few years, a new one is due soon.

>>445747
>may or may not have happened

So, nothing then.

If you're not even sure if it happened or not, trying to point out the effects is rather pointless.
>>
Can we ban all video game threads on /v/ for the next few days? We fucking hate video games.
>>
>>445629
There's no reason for it to be on /v/. If people like the VGAs then they can make a VGA steam group chat or IRC, there's no reason to force it on all of /v/.
>>
>>445752
It may have started before the /v/GAs, but I'd argue the witch-hunt for users from TS4HSMIWSUAI began in earnest once people realized people from that site alledgedly voted (though IIRC allegations were made that their votes were thrown out)
>>
>>445760
> allegedly

This should be /v/'s next buzzword, it could bring /v/ to a grinding halt if it was used properly where it could be.
>>
>>445747
>may or may not have happened
I don't know how people are this aloof. Or maybe you just go on /v/ once a week for ten minutes and then act like you have authority for board intel.

Anyway, I found that one of the easiest ways to tell that there has been a r3ddit invasion is the rise in moralfaggotry and anti-piracy. It became ridiculous in 2012. I could hardly even recognize the board. If you didn't have the actual experience browsing it for multiple hours every single day, you could still notice the change in attitude.

Also, while 4chan was has already been becoming increasingly serious and less playful, the hostility also intensified last year. And it's not the hostility that was keeping this place safe from normals all those years ago by refusing to spoonfeed, it's just morons who don't understand what this website is about and get offended. Then it devolves into idiotic fallacies and bandwagons.

And then the normalfag humor. It's horrible. Go to those screencap threads and see what people classify as funny nowadays. You wouldn't be able to tell these people apart from r3ddit posters if not for the interface and slightly adjusted *chan posting customs.

There is just so much wrong with that board, and it was only strengthened by the /v/GAs last year. I don't know how much worse it can get, but I guess we'll find out soon. Nothing to be done now. Even moot and his idiotic staff are on their side. Accessibility for all, rite guys?
>>
>>445769
>rise in moralfaggotry
If we're both working with the same definition of 'moralfag' here, I'd disagree from my own set of experiences. The vast majority of people from That Site have a similar morality. Fully willing to dox people, willing to say terrible terrible things, essentially roughly equivalent to our Internet Hate Machine days.
>>
>>445769
Furthermore, if "normalfags" wanted a place to discuss their "normalfag" values, opinions, and experiences, wouldn't they do so on a site that's less obscure, such as Facebook?
>>
>>445769
>>445778
This is adorable, it's like watching a couple of boys try to figure out what girls are like by telling each other about their mothers.
>>
>>445598
>Then why not ban all discussion about it?
Why simply don't react to this like autistic manchildren?
>>
>>445782
What did you want to hear? You win. I'm not denying it. You have been approved by the moderators. Your event is happening in a few days. It will bring in more people like you to the board, and it will change it more in the direction that you want it to go. I'm just an archiver. I do include my own reflections on it, but that's not going to change anything at this point unless moot does something.
>>
If we start banning things that the majority of /v/ hates from /v/ we'd be left with nothing.
>>
>>445787
>What did you want to hear?

I don't know, perhaps /v/ as a whole agreeing that none of the scapegoats are the root of them problem, and promising to work together for the betterment of the board in a new age of understanding unity and videogame discussion?

>Your event

Oh for goodness sake, can you not go two sentences without trotting out your escape goats?

>It will bring in more people like you to the board

More bitter old /v/irgins? How? And why would you think that's a bad thing?
>>
>>445769
>muh sekrit club
You seriously can't believe that average /v/tard simply can't ignore obvious trolling and samefagging due to being stupid, ignorant and underage therefore filling the board with shit?

See, I have to disagree with that, because while some of it is just paranoia, another part of it is real. This is why 4chan is different from what it was 9 years ago. All those people came from different places and changed its culture. Right now, the primary contributor to this change is That Site (thanks ldQxIHZ+, this sounds much better).

>to work together for the betterment of the board in a new age of understanding unity and videogame discussion
Good luck convincing everyone!

>Oh for goodness sake, can you not go two sentences without trotting out your escape goats?
Sorry. That also covers your next point too.
>>
>>445809
>All those people came from different places and changed its culture.

Right, so you're looking at this new changed culture which no one IN the culture seems to like.

So your response is to pick out a few of the sites that *might* "allegedly" be responsible, and then start a witch hunt for the next few years, of such a scale that it becomes a popular fact that /v/ uses 'le' more often than all the cancerous places it's bitching about.

You're all fucking retarded and shitting all over yourselves to clean off the shit.
>>
>>445809
I do that because I find bypassing wordfilters childish, especially when people inject malice into it (eg. "fucking 9fag users").

>>445817
>shitting all over yourselves to clean off the shit
Shitting on shitters is a 4chan pastime! See "look at my post number", sagebombing, etc.
>>
>>445809
>the primary contributor to this change is That Site
Are you sure that it is not simply childish "secret club" mentality and /b/-level activism?
There's been a lot of "these sites": ebaums, gaia, digg, whatever else. Scarecrows change but it is always the same sort of people bitching about muh sekrit club and newfags.
>>
>>445817
>*might* "allegedly"
Sorry, no, it's very easy to see That Site is very closely tied with 4chan. Difference is that 4chan takes things less seriously (which has been declining), isn't politically correct (which is almost untrue at this point), isn't full of terrible normalfag humor (which is now true of 4chan as well), and isn't a hivemind (his is definitely gone from this site).

Oh, oops.

And you know, of course, the link between stealing OC and all that... but it's so far behind that I don't even want to pick it up.
It's true that this has always been constant, though. For instance, there was a site that was raided back in 2007 for stealing Longcat. But who cares, that was the year all the internet phenomena went full mainstream anyway.
>>
>>445825
>Scarecrows change but it is always the same sort of people bitching about muh sekrit club and newfags.
What's your point? I was around during some of those times, and I also swore against those sites when they were relevant.
>>
>>445830
Correlation is not causation.

>That Site

Fun thing for me is reading that and mentally rolling through the list >>445825 to see which one it is you're whining about.

In any case, I don't think you can maintain much credibility when you're trying to blame how shitty /v/ is on Cheezburger.net
>>
>>445834
The sites come and go. Each one is a only a symbol for the force that destroyed 4chan. moot at the forefront, of course.
>>
>>445833
>I was around during some of those times, and I also swore against those sites when they were relevant.
And did it make any difference besides filling this site with even more unrelated shit instead of actual, on-topic content?
>>
>>445839
Yes. It slowed the speed at which this site went to shit just a little bit. Keeping the culture intact is important. You wouldn't care about it though. This place is just your playground where you can have fun being Anonymous. Nothing wrong with that, it's just that the times change and not all of us can accept it.
>>
>>445844
>It slowed the speed at which this site went to shit

How did it do this exactly?
>>
>>445848
In his interpretation, 4chan is a super secret neat castle, the invaders are stereotypical Vikings (rape and pillage without remorse, etc).

You do the math.
>>
>>445858
Half the soldiers in the castle dress up as vikings for the lulz and end up raping and pillaging the super neat castle?
>>
>>445863
Okay, perhaps that was a bad analogy.
>>
>>445867
I thought it was quite apt myself, the invaders aren't really invaders and don't even want in your castle, and it's only people in the castle intent on ruining it for their own amusement causing the problem.

I'm sure we could work some goats in there somewhere.

>banning video game discussion on a video game board

The weak-willed permabetas who are intellectually and emotionally incapable of simply hiding or ignoring content they don't like.

and this thread is the proof of it
>>
Okay, so what happened with the original event? Wasn't on /v/ for a couple of days, come back and there was just so much shitflinging.

I literally don't know shit about it other than that MSPaint comic which goes something like "PRAISE BE TO VIDYA, VIDYA IS MERCIFUL"

It's only a shitstorm if you let it be a shitstorm. If you don't like it, simply ignore it. Hide threads, filter words and phrases, take a couple days off from 4chan. If you ignore it, it will ignore you.
>>
In the end the threads belong on /v/ no more than feminist frequency threads. Neither are /v/ related, both are advertising. Those that are interested in either have places to discuss them, and /v/ doesn't need to be and shouldn't be one of those places.
>>

we should ban E3 too
>>
>>446702

I ignored all the Katawa Shouju whatever and the LoL/DoTa threads and they still consumed /v/ before /vg/ became necessary.

Can't wait for more leddit scum

Keep in mind they won't stick to one board.

This never, ever works on /v/.

/v/ has been told this advice a great many times, without fail 70% of them intentionally ignore this advice in order to ruin everything for everyone else.

You know, for 'teh lulz'.
>>
Seriusly nothing good come from the VGA, the VGA should be banned and forgoten.
>>

>that picture

If it's obviously controlled by "master race" shits that think Valve is any good then it's not any better.
>>
Please mods. /v/ is shit enough as it is with the upcoming console war.

Don't need an assload of VGA threads with bitching
>>
please no vgas
>>
vga threads are containment threads. The keep all of the rebbitors out of good threads. A necessary evil.
>>
>>446698
sorry you're getting an autisimal rage over typing habits

are you gonna le grammer nazee me?
>>
I for one welcome a ban on vga threads.
>>
>>445769
>Anyway, I found that one of the easiest ways to tell that there has been a r3ddit invasion is the rise in moralfaggotry and anti-piracy.
There have been CONSTANT shitstorms about piracy on /v/ over the years, this is nothing new and it did not get any worse because of leddit.
>>
OP was definitely one of those people advocating /vg/.

TOO MANY VIDEO GAMES ON MY VIDEO GAME BOARD.
>>
>/q/,
>"No fun allowed."
>>
>>446885
I'd contend it's less "no fun allowed" as much as people arguing their way of having fun is the only way and the other alternatives are horrible and toxic and etc.

3 days left, gotta bump this thread.

The /v/ga's were always meant as a joke. The thing is, they became a bad, sad joke rather than a good one. The people behind them are attention whores of the highest pedigree. Deleting thread or not allowing them won't be enough. They'll spam threads about it themselves. A sticky will only serve to validate them, so in the end there's no feasible option. You'll just have to deal with the fact /v/ is pretty much undermined with people like them and try to find good threads on page 7/the catalog.
>>
This and autist cup threads should be deleted on sight, on every single board.

Nobody with half a brain cell enjoy these "events".
>>

>They'll spam threads about it themselves.
If only.
Mentioning /v/ga is a sure way to get some laughs out of autistic\retarded\sekret club\cultur part of /v/.
I'll surely create a thread myself given the chance there will be no /v/ga thread on the board.
>>
>BAWWWWWWWWW MOMMMY THEY DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT FUN THINGS AND MUH WEEABOO GAMES MUM MUMMY!

Fuck you, we've been losing /v/'s culture and community ever since the split with /vg/ (which ironically was supposed to help /v/'s community.

Removing this, dubs, fun offtopic, harmony, etc just makes /v/ some stupid website where people only talk about weeb games and shit on others

If you don't want a GOOD 4chan you should just LEAVE

Go back there, I hear it's free to troll with stupidity in there.

How new are you?
Well I guess that those things are part of YOUR new-/v/, you probably got attracted by that shit.
Glad I stepped out of /v/.

>llsMore years
How ironic capthca
>>
>>450564
That's some quality trolling. Felt like I was on /v/ during the week of the split there.
