moot stop trying to make me feel bad for using Adblock, I have my reasons. Please remove that immediately, thanks.

You can unblock ads on specific sites without allowing them everywhere.

Just buy a Pass.

It's just $20. Jesus ...I give $20 a week to buskers.

$20 per year? Come on!

But J-List is shit, you got to understand.

fuck you man. either ignore it or just pay the 20 bucks
>>
>>411423
J-list? Dude ... do you run a website?

I am a J-list affiliate ...

$30 a month.

My rent is $500 a month.

Even if 4chan makes 100x from J-list that I do on my website, that's barely enough to do shit.

Buy a Pass. Buy your friends a Pass.
Keep slapping moot in the face to accept your moneys. (He won't take mine)

Yet you'll still keep buying dildos from Amazon.

Weird!
>>
J-List doesn't pay moot for each time someone loads that ad nor do they pay him per click. We know what the ad is, why the fuck does it matter if we see it or not? If we're blocking it then likely we don't click on ads to begin with and thus either way you're not getting any profit based off of anything we do. Am I missing something here or is the logic people have when they say "please unblock ads" completely fucked beyond belief?
>>
I'd whitelist 4chan if at least a few of the ads weren't weeaboo pedo crap

who the fuck else would want to advertise on 4chan?
>>
I'm only annoyed by the 4chan pass advertisements elsewhere. For instance the [Learn More] link under the captcha and on the captcha error screen.
>>
I only got adblock recently, and although I had every intention of unblocking 4chan's adverts, when I went on to the boards I felt that the lack of adverts was somewhat unsettling.

After using 4chan for so long with the ads, not having them made the boards seem uncomfortably different. No other site felt like this, and so 4chan is currently the only site where I have Adblock disabled.
>>
>>412229
Why is it so hard for you to just ignore them?
>>
I unblocked ad's on here a long time ago. You'll get used to it after a while since it's nothing but J-list 24/7.
>>
>>411400 (OP)
Lol Moot you hear that? Do it immediately! It's an order!
>>
>>412166
Moots already said that you don't need to click on the ads, he still gets a profit from it.
>>
>>412217

With a userbase as massive as 4chan's, why wouldn't you want to advertise here?

Do people shame companies for putting billboards up in bad neighborhoods?

I don't adblock, simply because things like life-like texture ;_; are an integral part of 4chan, to me. It wouldn't be the same without J-List ads, even if I don't give a shit about the store.

>>412436
>why wouldn't you want to advertise here?
There are plenty of reasons, 4chan generally has quite a negative reputation, not something you really want to put your name alongside. J-List is one of the few places that willingly advertises on 4chan.
>>
>>412441
That gave me a good laugh.

Blocking ads doesn't erase ads from existence. Also it brings up the adblock message problem, which is a perfectly legitimate thing to complain about. I don't see your problem here

also please dont call me idiot that really hurts my feeling

I just realized you called me something else. I'm not an infant either. Why do you call people infants because they complain about things? Babies eat too, is eating an infantile thing to do? That's very mean, I'm an adult could you please make me feel like one?

>I've made /q/
That was the problem. Meta threads on 4chan were never a real problem, which is all /q/ is going to be if you aren't willing to discuss rule changes, removals, and adaptations.

What could have been done to get the same updates was make a sticky on every board, let the posters ask questions, get answers, make suggestions, and check up every year or so rather than just sending it to one board.

Now you only want to talk to people here and every other board is likening /q/ to a horrible place to have dialogue, and you can't get the proper feeling of the individual boards. Because, surprise surprise, what /co/ wants isn't the same as what /d/ wants or /v/ wants or /tg/ wants, and only the angry majority who are willing to put up with /q/ get a voice.

And your various updates to the function of the site, while appreciated, didn't need a /q/ board to talk about them. Just link them on the 4chan status blog.

/q/ is only a containment board for meta rage, and only brushes any actual board complaints, calls for change, and progress under the rug. You've effectively stagnated 4chan and are taking up bandwidth space to do it.
>>
>>415105
I mean, take the issue with /pol/. It was only when you made a sticky on /pol/ you actually got any answer on what /pol/ needed (removal of the /s/ threads, new custom flags, improved moderation.) Here on /q/ it was just 'I WANT /pol/ TO LEAVE' 24/7. You didn't get to the actual problems until you WENT to /pol/, so how do you think you can solve the other board's wishes and concerns if you aren't willing to go to them and ask them straight up?
>>
>>415105
>Now you only want to talk to people here
But that's not true at all. People come HERE to talk to moot; with the exception of Q&A sessions, all board-specific "talks" are done on the board in question (see: flags on /sp/).

>only the angry majority who are willing to put up with /q/ get a voice.
Remarkable! Every other day I hear "baaaaaw vocal minority ruining my board" here on /q/! The anti-/q/ brigade should get its story straight.

I've found /q/ to be most helpful for bug reports, minor suggestions (several of which have been implemented), the occasional rule clarification, and in general just finding more out about the parts of the site I don't visit. (and even the ones I do, come to think of it).

I think a major reason why people don't like /q/ is that they come here and find out that, shock of shocks, not everyone on the board thinks the same way about everything as they do. But they would rather not believe that. So they adopt a fiction of this vocal majority/minority(?), or sometimes they go so far as to allege that there's a userbase specific to /q/(?!), and THESE are the people posting opinions they disagree with. It's similar to the explanation given in that one image about "crossboarder scum."

I suggest perhaps another answer, OP.

You might be a faggot.
>>
>>415105
>Meta threads on 4chan were never a real problem

Plenty of people would disagree with you on that. /vg/, /vp/, and /jp/, boards that exist solely to contain shit that other boards complained about, were all created before /q/.

I agree with everything else you say though. /q/ suffers from having too much of its own identity to really help anything. Board-wide ID's help, but I don't think anybody really pays attention to them and they're only most useful for mods/moot who can see posts they make on other boards.

>>415140
>But that's not true at all.
moot called out someone for posting almost entirely on /q/ in one of the stickies. I don't think that's an unfair accusation.

>anti-/q/ brigade
Quit marginalizing everybody who doesn't like what you like. If you really believe such a thing exists, you can use the ID system to prove it.

>I think a major reason why people don't like /q/ is that they come here and find out that, shock of shocks, not everyone on the board thinks the same way about everything as they do
Quoted for truth.
>>
>>415181
>moot called out someone for posting almost entirely on /q/ in one of the stickies
Well, if that's in reference to my "/q/ has no userbase" implication, then okay, sure. I know I post here a lot, and not just about the 3 boards I browse. But the sentence you quoted was about moot refusing to talk to users anywhere except /q/, which is just wrong.

>Quit marginalizing everybody who doesn't like what you like. If you really believe such a thing exists, you can use the ID system to prove it.
Well... I have noticed recurrent posters whose every post amounts to "/q/ won't help you, give up, etc." Like, no matter what they're discussing, they'll find a way to throw that in there. But yeah, I guess it's not fair to lump everybody in like that.
>>
>>415140
>>415181
Perhaps then the solution is keeping /q/, but also doing with 4chan what was done with /pol/, checkup discussion stickies where no topic was offlimits, and people could argue for their ideas no matter how controversial. Start with one of the smaller boards, get a feeling for the process, and work your way up.
>>
>>415213
What boards do you think could benefit from that? I'm especially interested in small ones, since you said moot should start with those.
>>
>>415190
>But the sentence you quoted was about moot refusing to talk to users anywhere except /q/, which is just wrong.
Oh, my mistake, I misread it! I didn't notice that he was talking to moot.
>>
>>415218
/toy/ would be a good place to start. They don't have many problems, but there's always checkup to do and discussion about the BST threads or maybe spoiler tags on /toy/. (Being a supplement to a lot of cultural things means sometimes you can get spoiled on /toy/ for stuff, or not wanting to be spoiled on /toy/ news itself. It's a light risk, but it would be nice to have tags and spoiler text as a precaution.)

/d/ also had a long-lasting thread on /q/ and it seemed divided between popular /q/ mentality and /d/ mentality. Moot said he'd consider reinstating thread timing, but I think discussion on /d/ could get a better answer of what exactly they want and need. Yes, even the consideration of some previously banned fetishes. (There was a idea of creating an extreme tabs for those under the rule 2 'extreme porn ban', and it was pretty popular. Maybe act like spoiler tabs at first, and then work on a more streamlined system, such as a tab that automatically hides extreme threads perhaps?)

Those are small, but big enough to make good changes if they're talked to, and they're certainly different from /q/'s populace.
>>
>>415245
Other suggestions could be /sci/, /m/, maybe /vp/. I can't speak as well for those boards, but they're about the same size.
