Am I the only one that feels like Mods need better reasons to ban sometimes? I just got banned from /v/ for "shitposting", even though all I've posted in the last hour was a reaction image to a guy telling me to google "carbuncle" and linking someone to an image's source.

Don't Feed the trolls

Reaction Images = attention

Attention = troll food

I have actually made something to do precisely this if moot does his part!
>>
>>148
I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW YOU EXISTED
>>
Spoiler:
>it probably wasn't him
>>
>>125
It wasn't even really trolling, he ended up explaining that he thought carbuncle was the name for some crystal from FF.
>>148
That's good to hear, I've been banned like 4 times for "responding to CP" in threads didn't even have any.
>>
>>148
>developer

what
>>
I think more clarity on what gets you banned on /v/, and other boards, is needed.

I mean, I get that you gotta keep them obscured so that people don't find ways to get around them, but like I've been hit with a "restricted phrase" or outright banned for posts that I felt weren't anything bad.

Also I want to know if words like "Nintendrone" are still autoban.

Quick guys
where do I apply to be a developer???

Not to steal the thread, and it may sound like a dumb idea, but what about banning by popular vote? Specifically shitposting and trolling tripfags that intentionally derail threads
>>
>>233
something like that would have its purpose hijacked instantly, terrible idea
>>
>>199

This.
I got a 1-day autoban on /vg/ when I tried to make a thread apparently because I made reference to the previous thread dying, but I'm not exactly sure.
>>
This has been on our todo list for like, six years.

We're going to standardize ban reasons and lengths and encourage moderators to use the canned ones, and they'll also reference a rule that was broken from http://www.4chan.org/rules

I seriously planned this out in 2006. el oh el 4chan dev cycle.
>>
>>316
C-can I be unbanned then?
>>
>>316

Can you please have the ban message show a copy of the offending post(s).

I second this notion.
>>
>>333
Oh god, I need this so much. The first time I got banned I wanted something like this.

I think this would be good too.

Because I mean look at this

I would really like to see this too.

Definitely want this

This would be great to have.

Yeah, posting to support this.

I was banned for two days about a week ago for "shitposting in a nsfw thread" on /v/.

Said post was a sage in an idolm@ster thread saying I felt it belong more on /a/ because, while it was a video game, it was inviting hordes of shitposting and OP really should of known that would happen on /v/.

Hell I think the only NSFW stuff was one guy posting a doujin after I already said my piece.

On a side note why exactly is it that most bans are for all boards, at least on /v/? I think the only time I haven't been banned from all boards whenever one hit me was from /tg/. Is it just the default setting? I personally think the default should be just the board you were posting on.
>>
>>1512
>while it was a video game

Videogame topics go in /v/, there shouldn't be any debate about where it belongs. I'd have to agree with the guy who deleted your post.
>>
>>1512
I highly doubt you were banned for that post. You might've made an earlier rule-breaking post in another thread, which you forgot about, that the mods got around to it later and banned you for it.

Also, though I can't speak for all mods, most of the bans I give are usually board specific except for posting CP, which is an automatic permanent ban on all boards.
>>
>>333
Was going to make a thread about this, but since it's already been posted, to the top!
>>
>>1512
You deserved to be banned, or at least have your post deleted. Idolm@sters is a video game, no matter how hard anyone tries to deny it. You should not be encouraging the opposition to attack said threads.
>>
Not sure if anyone cares or wants it, but here's a thread with a lot of bans that people thought were bullshit, almost exclusively from /tg/.

>>
I think posting reaction images alone is shitposting, so I don't see your point.
