Well since the sticky asks for "4chan site suggestions, there is a captcha that one can just do simple math calculations or even one with ads within them, considering many of us (including myself) use some form of adblocks. The id system changed recently and i was wondering since OP ids dont change anymore within a thread, will they change between posts (ie someone making 2 threads)? (I'm not planning on making multiple threads, just wan to know for reference)
Can /wg/ require subjects to be added to every new thread? Also what about bringing janitors to /vg/, i know someone previously made a post about it.
>mfw new janitors will be lurking and potentially bring down the delete hammer
>>
also if you can bring the banhammer on princess of /b/ shit that would be great or at least set that as spam. i'm not sure if that's already implemented or not though.
>>
>>4387

It's likely all the boards that are lacking in moderation/ janitors will have that problem alleviated once the new janitors are recruited. I might be presuming too much, but I'm sure moot intends to promote some of the existing janitors to mod level as well, which should help a good deal.
>>
>>4412
what im most interested in is requiring a subject for /wg/ posts, but hopefully that will help curve some "looking for x image" threads
such as "black and white images"
"image modification thread"
"desktop thread"
also i was browsing /q/ and i see /g/ has some issues with shitposting. the desktop threads could be moved to /wg/, just a suggestion

Hello. Just wondering why /tg/ doesn't have spoilers. It'd help out on storytiem threads and possibly the rampant quest threads.

And if you don't want to add spoilers to /tg/ I'd like to know why.

Pic is entirely unrelated.

If there was a level-headed janitor on hand, 24/7...Maybe a few in shifts, I wouldn't be so worried but alas; /tg/ is notorious for running it's moderation off.
>>

I'd love to do what I can were applications open

I lied when I said I was done. I made one more with the Imperial Aquila.
It's a little busy for my taste, but I wanted to toss it up here anyway.
>>
If a mod's here, would you mind putting a sticky on /tg/ with "You guys have spoilers now." and leaving the thread open for a week or two, so people can test out spoilers etc.

Thanks for your time!

It's nice but I prefer the D6

/po/ is quiet. TOO quiet.

Also, bring back /z/

also, would /q/ be interested in participating in the 4chan cup? ((Look it up))

Pic unrelated.
>>
>>4083
But there is no /q/ community yet to support them in the 4chan cup.
>>
>/po/

Lol. I thought that board was deleted some years ago. That's probably the only one I don't visit, along with /i/.

Idea was cool, but needs to be implemented with other boards.
>>
>>4102
>implying most of the teams in the cup have supportive communities.

And yes, /po/ has to be merged with another board, imo.
>>
>>4125
/po/ + /ic/ maybe?
>>
>>4102
>4chan cup
We already have a thread about this
Look a few threads back

OH GOD IT'S FINALLY HERE /meta/ THE BOARD
I CAN BARELY CONTAIN MY AUTISMAL EXCITEMENT

That said, will mods be making an effort to kill meta-metathreads? i.e. discussion about the state of /q/ itself. If a /q/ board culture develops, will this be shunned or embraced?

Also:
>Super-oldfags will remember our IRC townhalls from 2004-2005, /q/, and /sug/. Those proved to be extremely productive and we're hoping this will be the same.
>/sug/
>extremely productive
Seriously?

Thumbnail quality is still pretty awful. It makes posting reaction images a little worse. Unless it seriously affects 4chan's bandwidth consumption, this should be addressed.

There's also a problem with black and white pngs not thumbnailing properly. This doesn't affect many images but when it does it's pretty seriously problematic. I'll post one as demonstration if the flood detection allows me to.

What are you talking about?
>>
can thumbnail backgrounds be fixed too.
Not everyone uses Yotsuba B.
>>
>>4229
There used to be a problem a whole while ago where uploading transparent GIFs/PNGs lead to thumbnails with a black background.
>>
>>4167
I'd hazard a guess at saying the artifiacting is a good way to cut down on bandwith usage.
That or moot and co. just haven't updated the compression technique for a very long time, and have just forgotten about it.
>>
>>4234
It'd be great if png thumbnails were actually pngs instead of jpegs.

During the past year or so, /r/ has degenerated into nothing but creepy threads requesting pics of random girls getting photoshopped into a nude and/or sexually explicit state, fake cum facials of their faces, bubbled (see OP pic), or their clothes x-ray'd so they can appear as see-through.

What troubles me the most about this (aside from these types of threads overrunning the board) is that a lot of the pics uploaded can be led back to peoples' personal info with a quick image and/or Facebook file name search (leading to possible harassment, online & IRL) AND that there's no doubt most of the girls being posted are in fact underage.

Global Rule #4 strictly prohibits the posting of personal information, which the pics being uploaded kinda are, especially since they can easily be traced back to their original source. And the most troubling part of the underage point posted above is that said even EDITED pics of underage people in nude & pornographic/sexual explicit images ARE considered child porn.

Call me a white knight or whatever you want, but I honestly believe these types of threads gotta be cracked down on considerably, banned from /r/ and confined to /b/, or completely outright banned, which ever moot & the mods feel would be appropriate.

Agreed 100%.

/g/ has been near begging for a split into an actual real tech board and a consumer tech board for a long time. I know I'm not supposed to ask for board request as such, so I won't. Not now. But what I would like to see on /g/ is less of the elitist faggotry that takes place. In EVERY thread, someone is always derailing it by acting all high and mighty because they have something in their little PC's that makes them special. There is no way to get any kind of productive feedback on legitimate discussions because someone makes some "you're retarded and should kill yourself" comment and more posts like that continue to follow. Also, gets have become a maniacal plague on /g/. If someone gets even doubles in something as simple as say a guts thread and on /g/ user decides to point them out, then that's it... the thread is pretty much over. /g/ is turning into a sfw /b/ and it's getting bad. Real bad.

Did you even read the sticky on this board? REPORT the shitposters, filter them, hide them, whatever.
>>
>>4019
Guts, desktops, and battlestations are horrible threads. /g/ used to have quite a bit of OC but it's all gone now.
>>
Whatever you're complaining about it sounds really vague and more like you're frustrated and whining directionlessly because someone hurt your feelings.

Try beating up your pillow and crying it out.
>>
>>4046
This is an example of people on /g/ acting like high and mighty douchebags because they've "been here longer"
>>
>>4072

I'm acting high and mighty because I'd rather not have the board collectively mollycoddled because you can't handle frank discussion without loading your vagina with sand. If you can't read through the board without getting flustered over people not being friendly enough, try visiting again when your balls have dropped and you can deal with it.

No one cares how long you've been here.

It is possible to display an automatic message inside a saged post (visually similar to a banned post, but with a different color)?

Something like "(I used sage because I don't think this post is worth enough to bump this thread)".

At least everyone can learn the true meaning of sage. Just a thought.

Yes, we currently implement this functionality in the form of a "mailto:" link, a common identifier for emails, however we here at 4chan believe that re-purposing a rarely used feature is a far better solution than creating a brand new feature!

To use this feature you can hover over the email field to display their email address using your web browser's native parsing functions.

Did you ever think about adding more /b/'s? Like, /b/1, /b/2 and so on? Maybe cut the noise down ever so slightly? Let things come into focus more easily.
This would, be a better solution than just adding 30 more pages to /b/, because theoretically, you could "main" one.

>"I main /b/2, mostly."

Also, I get this feeling that intra-board gamesmanship might spur a wave of creativity. And that's always good.

so a few weeks back moot made a sticky asking the users of >>>/pol/ if they wanted flags like >>>/int/ and >>>/sp/.
my impression was that the majority vote was no, but he went with it anyway.
but he didn't give us conventional flags, he gave us random "funny" flags instead.
it was funny, for a couple of days, but now it seems it has run it's course.

I know we're not your favourite board, but please, could you take a couple of minutes to remove the flags from /pol/ or at least make them proper, country flags?

>>

I think China itself banned 4chan from their internet.
>>
>>4060
I doubt that would surprise anyone.

So yeah, /gif/ is a shittastic board. Not because it's overrun with porn, but because every fucking thread has some number of retards asking for "sauce".

I'd like a sticky stating that if you have the source to any .gif you post, you post it- otherwise, it's assumed you don't have it, and therefore, asking for it is futile.

Then, make asking for "sauce" a bannable offense. Preferably, wordfilter it to "I am a huge faggot please rape my face" or something.

Please.

If they don't have it on hand, then they're on the same level as the people who are asking, who would be just as effective at searching for the source.
>>
>>3807
Not that person, but they have a point- if the source isn't given, be a bro and try to provide it for other people.

I'd rather have several people giving the source to a .gif than several people asking for the source.
>>
>>3746
This is the kind of shit that bothers me. You're basically implying post sauce, or source, or don't post at all. You realise that right? If you don't want someone to aske where something is from fucking EVERYONE who posts ANYTHING must know exactly who it is, what it's from, what time it was shot, how many clips are left, etcetera etcetera.

Putting a word filter up on "sauce" would be fun because newfags would know how to request anything thinking they've gone done fucked up and ruined posting for themselves, but it would be stupid to ban a word because you don't like that it's all over a thread.

If anything, think of it like this: It bumps your threads and keeps them around to live another day. And once in a blue moon they inspire OC.
>>
>>3969
>You're basically implying post sauce, or source, or don't post at all.
No I'm not, read carefully. I'm saying if you DO have it, you should post it along with the image. Otherwise, post the image anyway, and then people shouldn't reply to your post going "SAUCE?" because it's fucking retarded.

Activate posteruid on all boards, forced Anon not necessary.

The only people it harms are shitposting samefags.

If there's one thing that was good about AT, it was User IDs.I always thought they were a great idea and should be implemented here too, everywhere. Fuck "4chan culture", IDs would raise the quality of all boards considerably.
>>
Good idea.

Samefagging is ruining 4chan.
>>
>>3133
Not to sound like one of those anarchist that is an "individual and don't play by the rules man!" But I do feel anonymity is an integral part of 4chan for better or for worse. As for samefagging issue if it's a person making a shitpost and then he makes several post praising it then it is bad, but if it's multiple post of good point, or at least points you agree with, does it matter if all those post are made by the same person?
>>
if you can't learn to identify posts from one another then you really have no place here

it's pretty fucking easy
>>
>>3467
>"Oh, I am not the original person you were replying to".
Wow, what a big deal. It takes seconds to detect the right post anyway after that.

Oh goody, a new board!

Okay, is anybody else sick to death of the word `edgy`? Biggest buzzword since ever.

You guys should make a filter where posting `edgy` changes the word to `sexy`

so `so edgy xD` will turn into `so sexy xD

You should totally do that.
3 posts omitted. Click Reply to view.
>>
Why don't we just change every word to something while we're at it?

Edgy can become bear, and fish can become tooth. It'll be so randum and funneh XD

Your idea is bad and you should feel bad.
>>
>>3936
so edgy
>>
>>3936
Edgy teenager detected.
>>
Fag should be changed to :3
>>
I don't really think it's in anyone's best interests bo wordfilter any old word. it's get pretty old, pretty fast and would be a barrier to anyone actually wanting to discuss something on the board.
Will it discourage people from posting the word? hell no. If anything it'll make more people post it because it's prohibited, i.e. /b/ wordfilters circa 2011.

I do agree that it has its advantages but nine times out of ten it's just not worth the effort.
