Thumbnail quality is still pretty awful. It makes posting reaction images a little worse. Unless it seriously affects 4chan's bandwidth consumption, this should be addressed. There's also a problem with black and white pngs not thumbnailing properly. This doesn't affect many images but when it does it's pretty seriously problematic. I'll post one as demonstration if the flood detection allows me to.
Lets see if this still thumbnails incorrectly.
>>4132I can see her fingers cut off a bit. However being on /a/ and in manga dump threads, I haven't noticed any significant errors. I'll keep my eyes open though.
>>4158It was only black and white .png files with transparency. Doesn't look like it's a problem any more, but those artifacts are pretty apparant.
Is the transparent GIF thumbnail problem still there?
>>4204What are you talking about?
can thumbnail backgrounds be fixed too.Not everyone uses Yotsuba B.
>>4229There used to be a problem a whole while ago where uploading transparent GIFs/PNGs lead to thumbnails with a black background.
>>4167I'd hazard a guess at saying the artifiacting is a good way to cut down on bandwith usage. That or moot and co. just haven't updated the compression technique for a very long time, and have just forgotten about it.
>>4234It'd be great if png thumbnails were actually pngs instead of jpegs.
